jellyb
Are there any negatives with running SRP's in PCC's? TIA Link to comment
usmc1974
I use srp and lrp for everything. Just saying Link to comment
jerseyglock
I've been using Wolf small rifle (.223) for past many many years, they go bang! Link to comment
WarLeg
what loads are y'all running when using SRP? thinking of using these as a temp replacement for SPP's. Link to comment
OPENB
All the rifle triggers I've run across will reliably ignite rifle primers loaded in pistol cases. Should be GTG. A very good way to conserve pistol primers for lightly sprung pistols. Link to comment

Start with your regular load and see how it works. If you're already on the "hot" side with your load then start a little lighter and work back up, but I haven't noticed a difference. Link to comment
usmc1974
I am not changing my loads. If I remember right it was over thirty years ago that guns and ammo did a study. SRP had 17 pounds of energy and SPP's had 12 to 15. Magnum SRP's had about 19. I have found SRP give a very nice even ignition in my pistol loads. Link to comment
WarLeg
thank you everyone for your responses, greatly appreciated. Link to comment
bigdawgbeav
Somewhere on this forum there was a rest of SPP vs SRP in terms of velocity and PF. If I remember correctly there was no appreciable difference between the two. SRPs usually have a harder cup so may not work in a pistol with lighter springs. Some of the PCC manufacturers actually recommend using the SRPs Link to comment

fedupflyer
So far all of my pistols run well with SRP. Once primer prices return to somewhat of a normal price, all I will stock is SRP and no SPP. Link to comment

Alvin
Run srp in my .38 super and sti .40 since day one. Use them in the pcc also. Chrono them with the pcc against spp....had less than 4fps difference, much to my surprise. Link to comment
cperazza
Nope. Running SRP on my PCC, Limited and Open guns with no issues. Note: If you use mag SRP you might see a spike (15-20 fps) in velocity, that you might have to adjust on powder charge. Link to comment
Squirrel45
Like everyone else said no issues. However my pcc doesn't lite #41s to well. Those are mil spec 5.56 caps Edited February 24, 2022 by Squirrel45 Link to comment
usmc1974
I tried S&B SRP I did have a issue with these in my glock 19 gen t5. This is the only time I tried them. They did run fine in my JP GMR 15. Link to comment
Braxton1
To the people espousing the interchangeability of LRP and LPP's, please be advised that there is a dimensional difference between those two that doesn't exist with the SPP/SRP swap: Link to comment
SteelCityShooter
Primers are starting to be available again but at a very high cost. Target Sports shows Remington, CCI and Federal small rifle and small pistol primers in stock but at $600/ case of 5000! It does include free shipping so that's something. Link to comment
bigdawgbeav
so small rifle magnum would probably OK if using already a light Steel Challenge load? Have a line on some Remington 7 1/2 Bench Rest primers that (from my understanding) are just small rifle magnums... Link to comment
gerritm
I know all are saying no problem. Like everyone I got some CCI SRP when things got tough. Tried them in 2 of our PCC's running Taccom Bolts & FP. They worked fine. Tried them in an older BCG that I can't remember where I got, but have had it for years and they were inconsistent. Some lit off every once in awhile they wouldn't fire. Could be worn FP & spring. My advice is to try them in practice. gerritm Link to comment

They run in our other PCC's and have never run in consistently in this one. Why would you not check a batch of ammo when you change components before running them in a match. Not a good time to find out if they work. Between the 3 of us shooting we have several 9mm STI's that run SRP with no problems, but our Cajunized CZ's will not run them. gerritm Link to comment
