  1. Like mentioned earlier, it's about the parking situation. If you are shooting multiple guns and 2 sessions, that can take a lot out of you by the end of the day. Already have done enough walking for the day, I'm ready to pack up and get out of there.
  2. Hadn't thought of it like that... sound reasoning. And I can always save on shipping my picking it up since the warehouse is an hour from me. Can stop there on the way to Area 7 next week...
  3. I want one, but can't justify it right now. Not really loading a whole lot with the primer shortage...
  4. I'm running the TACCOM ultra lightweight handguard on my AR-V. 4 screws that hold it to nut and barrel nut only needs to be tightened with a crescent wrench.
  5. This is actually good advice no matter the platform. Screws can loosen over time, especially when connected to a part taking a beating every time you shoot. Thanks for the reminder. Going to make sure i add it to my post-season tune-up checklist.
  6. I, too, was looking at changing guns around. But can't make up my mind. Might just leave it as it is and take my chances...
  7. and i think we are squadded together one of those days...
  8. Meh... changed both parts anyway. Honestly the hardest part was putting the clip back in that holds the firing pin. The little bitch tried to bend on me and had to get a small punch to push that one leg up. Felt like I needed 3 hands for it. The extractor swap was very easy.
  9. Thanks for the reminder. Got my parts kit and still have to make that swap. Is your firing pin better than the stock?
  10. Done... added the @TRUBL Taccom parts, the handguard and the 3-stage buffer...
  11. Anyone else here going to Area 7 in Dunbarton, NH in a few weeks? https://practiscore.com/scsa-2021-area-7-steel-challenge-championship/register
  12. Take a look at this from Tandemkross from a few years ago
  13. So here is the completed build... although have a couple more accessories coming in...
  14. When did Wiland start making a barrel for the PC Carbine?
  15. actually just ordered one of those. I was reluctant at first, but seems like a good alternative.
  16. I have it on my PC Carbine and my rimfire pistols... love it
  17. MSRP = $599... given a little time probably on shelves for closer to $400. Canik killer?
  18. Thought it was interesting... an aluminum lower that has a grip angle similar to a 1911 but takes Glock mags. Would like to see it broken down to see how they figured out that geometry...
  19. I'm using a 1981 Ruger receiver with a basic, screw-on pic rail
  20. I'm using the standard 10/22 irons. I have the largest aperture ring for the rear and green front. I didn't like the rear sight all the way to the rear, so I moved it to the front of the receiver, I like that better. For me the sights are at a decent height. The rear is bottomed out and was shooting way too high. I had to move the front sight up to get it to zero. My front blade is almost showing the screw cutouts. This is actually my 2nd front sight because the first one one of the blade screws stripped out. They are very soft and you have to be careful.
  21. Like others have said, the Ruby's are great in the sun. They were designed for shotgunners to highlight the orange clays better against the sky. As a side-effect they really make RED dots and fiber optics pop. But they are darker and may not be the best choice on overcast days. Also, you CANNOT use a green dot or fiber, they will look gray. Personally, I am happy with my Golds. They are all around a good option for all light conditions, indoor and outdoor. It's all a matter of personal preference. If you are at a match where Brian and the Hunters HD Gold Magical Mystery Tour are there, borrow a pair and try for yourself. (disclaimer: I am a Hunters HD Gold Ambassador)
  22. Started the new build. Have to wait for the Taccom XLW barrel and for the bolt to come back. Also waiting for a ratcheting castle nut since I didn't want to stake and didn't want the nut to possibly come loose. I know it's a slim chance, but my luck it'll happen in the middle of a match and something breaks.
  23. Just curious if everyone stakes their castle nut. Or are you changing things enough that a staked nut would be a problem?
