I want to use 00 buckshot with as little recoil as I can get. The original buffer slides inside the socket, resting against the shoulder, and the spring rests against the bottom of the socket. You’d end up adding about an inch of spring to the overall length in stock configuration. It’s ads instant weight but not more than a rifle length buffer. If I wasn’t going out of town I’d give it a try this weekend. Easy way to test the added weight theory. Now let all the “OMG don’t do that” people chime in... WWG1WGA Posted March 3, 2020 Share Posted March 3, 2020 So the taccom buffer is longer. But if I put it through a 1/2” drive socket, you still have the use of the inner spring. Yeah the socket sounds sketchy but it saves me getting other weight buffers turned down just to try something. Nelsonh Posted March 7, 2020 Share Posted March 7, 2020 I have seen a few folks looking for m- loks to work with the vm80 and just wanted to point out the standard m- loks work but every brand I have tried you do have to cut them down a little to clear the piston setup. You file the tabs and the screws. I had plenty of metal to hold the rails/accessory's on mine. And the last guy I talked to said only use the heavy piston for 3 inch shells. The choke goes inside...why would it matter if the choke can pass as long as the comp can screw on the outside? Also....I have to say seeing that up close I have less faith that it will perform well because its less than half the size of the long comp. Main thing is to break it “completely “ down and clean it like your an archeologist unearthing aliens. Then just buy a case of the cheapest crap you can (Walmart) and burn through it. I didn’t bother sighting in or anything until the gun started to work. I did the break in with a buddy...1 loaded a mag while the other dumped the mag and vice versa. Don’t shop any parts yet just clean/shoot till it starts working/ clean again. They should include a case of shot with the thing!
