CHA-LEE
Over the years I have seen several people battle mid match malfunctions due to chewed up or worn out shock buffs. If you are going to use a shock buff then you need to treat it as a consumable item and replace it regularly. They are cheap so I don't understand why people are compelled to try to use them until they fail. I don't use shock buffs in any of my guns. I don't want to risk ANY match performance on something like that which doesn't really provide much of a benefit. My stance is, Man up and embrace the recoil!!! TimBoettcher
I used to run a Wilson and aluminum on top, pretty darn soft shooting... edited to add that it was not 100% reliable but have found that if your going to use one, use aluminum. cconnection
I was giving the same "dead blow " speech for the aluma-buffs, so I have run them, but agree that anything that can protect the potential frame damage when shooting Major cannot be a bad thing? I did have one issue with a new SVI 9mm major gun. When I put the buffer in the gun would no longer lock-back. It would hit the spring at full compression, and with the buffer would not come back far enough to lock? Would any-one cut there spring to make room for the buffer, or just not run one? JD45
When I shot a .45, CP buffs would last thousands of rds. and never caused a problem.
alanm
My open gun will not run reliably with a shok buff. I don’t use them for that reason.

I cut the spring until contact is with the buff rather than the stacked spring stopping travel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cconnection
thank you for that feedback, I did not like the fact that there was no room for a buffer. On the next practice session, I will play with springs and buffers, I'll report back.
36873687
I’m running one aluminum buff in each of my open guns. With 5 coils cut off the spring. Love the feel an it’s protecting the gun is a plus
S&W686
I run a Wilson Combat shock buff on all of my 1911/2011 style handguns.

Chris Keen
I always liked CP buffs. But recently tried the alumibuffs and like the feel of those just as much.

Never tried aluminium
rishii
I just replace the cp buff that’s been in my open gun since March, maybe 6k rounds fired, it could probably go another 6k with no problem I only replaces it because I’m going to Area 2 next week
