echotango
4 sti 140's and 3 sti 170's. As mro stated, depends on the stage.
Hi-Power Jack
I find it less certain (repeatable) to reload with a "big stick" (170 mm), so I usually start with a 170 and reload with a 140 (that gives me more than enough rounds for almost all stages. ScottieShootz
I've got 1 big stick and 4 140s. I only start with the 170 if I can finish the stage with it (as planned). Otherwise if a reload is needed I'll start on the 140 and finish out with a 170 as others have stated.
racegun9
Majority I see mix it up between 140 & 170. Learn to reload from both depending on where the best place to reload is. I've shot 4 rounds and reloaded to a big stick if thats the best place to reload. Sometimes a shorter mag in the gun will give you a little more room coming out of a briefcase or from under a shelf. Just depends on the stage and what your comfortable with. It's nice to have options.

Aircooled6racer
Hello: I am finding I am using more 140mm now and reloading to a 140mm. The stage breakdown will tell you what mags you will want to use. I am using old SVI magazines in 170,165,140,135 and even some 125mm. Thanks, Eric

RaylanGivens
Is it still possible to by new old-style SVI magazines?
racegun9
Not from SVI. They only sell their new style with the engraving on the side. From time to time someone has some new old style stock in the back of the safe they are cleaning out.

FullMetalJacket
Those of you with 9 major guns and MBX mags.. do you have to run mag spacers? No spacers are needed... I run my MBX mags with both my 9 and 38SC gun without issue.
Ultimo-Hombre
Those of you with 9 major guns and MBX mags.. do you have to run mag spacers? MBX is designed to run without spacers. In fact you can't use a spacer in an MBX mag with their followers. The MBX has a wide dent in the sidewall, similar to SVI to provide stacking tolerance for the rounds. A STI mag uses a pair of narrow dents, without a spacer in the STI mag some believe the round can sit far enough to the rear of the mag and hang up on the forward dent. The spacer holds the round farther forward, so it rides on the dent like a super would (or originally a .45) Some guys have gotten away with not even bothering with spacers in 9mm STI. And then reload to a 140. I kinda get where he may be coming from... In a 32 round COF, you are gonna have to reload, two 140's gives you 45 rounds, plenty vs the 52 you get with a big stick first. If you are willing to trade off total flexibility for when you reload for the benefit of a little lighter and less cumbersome gun on the draw it makes sense. Of course the 22-26 round COF obviously warrants the big stick. I have gotten in the habit of just starting off the same no matter, so I Barney up to a big stick, even for short classifiers.
