Mags to have in the shooting bag.

I'm a new 3g'er, just bought a DPMS 3G1 to get into the sport. My question is what mags do you guys have in your shooting bag? Which kind (brand), capacity (20rd,30rd,larger), and QTY. A list would be awesome!

Something like this:

Magpul (20 rd) x2

Magpul (40 rd) x1 etc...

Thanks in advance!

I carry way more mags than I need to. I've got the following.

20 round

20/30 round coupled

2x 30 round coupled sets

3- 30 round

1x 40 round coupled set

1- 40 round

1- 48 round

1- 60 round coupled pmag.

All Magpul. Most Gen 3's.

I use different ammo for hosed stages than long range so it's easier having a set loaded with each. Do I need to carry 15 mags (holy crap I carry 15 mags?). Probably not bug it's easier to have them and not need them and they don't take up that much space.

I carry more than I need also. I typically have in my mousegun bag:

1 aluminum 20

Coupled 30s

2 aluminum 30s (Brownell's with magpul follower)

2 magpul 30s

2 magpul 40s (recent addition)

1 magpul/Nordic 48

When I practice, I use some Troy mags (prize table pickups). They run, but one of them won't drop free and they are harder to disassemble for cleaning.

For Heavy Metal, I have:

4 20rd

2 25 rd (they will get plugged to 20rds depending on match rules)

Even though I don't shoot 3 gun, the mags I use for on Duty are:

30 rd Colt (manufactured by Okay Industries)

30 rd Okay Industries

I change the follower to the Magpul Gen III

and add the Magpul Ranger L baseplate

I also LIGHTLY spray the inside of the magazine with Remington DriLube, it is a Teflon spray that drys completely and leaves a light dry coating of Teflon on the inside of the magazine.

DO NOT CONFUSE THIS PRODUCT WITH REMLUBE! NEVER use oil on the inside of a magazine.

I like having lots of options:

- a GI 20

- several individual GI 30s (which I almost never use - just carry one on the belt)

- a pair of GI 30s coupled together with a single Arredondo coupler (occasionally useful)

- several individual C-Products 43s (my go-to mag)

- a pair of C-Products 43s coupled together with a single Arredondo coupler (86 rounds on tap  )

- a PMAG 30 with Nordic +18 (which I haven't used in years but keep in the bag)

- a Surefire 60 (great when I want to monopod)

- a pair of PMAG 30s joined end-on-end with a CCW coupler for 60 rounds in a long stick (great for hoser stages when I might drop the mag - easier to clean than the SF60)

I have a couple of spare SF60s - I'm really tempted to try coupling them together for 120 rounds :roflol:

Wow, you guys need to be nervous around deep water! :)

2 G.I. 30 rounders

1 Sterling 40 rounder.

If any of them F.U.....well, I got all you guys to borrow from :)

Hey Kurt....we'll lighten your load some.....swap out one of them 30's for a 40 PMAG with one of my extensions......probably show up on your door step one day soon too!! Then what ya gonna do?
