I'm in the Monoco Tower. I don't even want to know what the rest of the hotel is like.

What's bad about the place? I'm going to the Multi-gun Nats. How far is it to the monorail from the Riviera?

All I know after the cleaning ladys went through there would be piles of sheets and trash through the next day.

obstacle course through the hall.

we stayed at the Riviera and didn't find it all that bad for the price. the rooms were clean, the quilts on the beds were nice, the towels were nice and fluffy and the water was hot. and the elevators were quick. Having stayed in the cheap side of the Flamingo this past winter i thought the Riv was a much better deal. The price was especially attractive. My half was a hell of a lot less then what i excepted.

I was at the Riviera too and found the room better than a lot of places I've been too. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in, including a lot high-end hotels. Sure, the rest of the hotel/casino was run down, but how much time did you actually stay at the hotel other than to sleep?

If you are complaining about the choice of the match hotel, then I suggest you call up Kim Williams @USPSA and tell her that you will take over that job next year.

Maybe I was lucky, but I didn't mind the Riviera as a match hotel. It was okay but not great. I was there for 8 nights. My room was very clean, the bed and bedding was very comfortable, I always had hot water and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rest of the casino and resort was run down and there was some issues with food/beverage service. The coffee kiosk didn't open until 7:00! The check in process was abysmal, it took almost 45 minutes when I arrived. I really didn't spend any time at the hotel except to sleep. It was quiet, except for one night when there was an after wedding party in the hallway. It was a convenient place to get away from, either on foot or the shuttle bus stop right out front. I wouldn't stay there for a vacation, but I'd do it again for a match.

There are pro's and con's to both the Riviera and New Orleans (the previous match hotel)

Check in at New Orleans was fast, less than 5 minutes each time I have been there. The Riviera was 45 minutes and every time that I walked past check-in there was a huge line of people.

Better choice of restaurants inside the New Orleans, if you are working the match its less hassle to eat at the Casino than start wondering the streets looking for a good place to eat.

The room was better at Riviera than at New Orleans though I noticed that the faucets in Riviera worked the opposite way than normal... Hot was to the right, not left.

New Orleans was much closer to the range, a quick trip down Tropicana to the freeway, plain sailing each day. The Riviera trip took longer and suffered from a glut of traffic lights, the road works did not help much either.

The car park at the Riviera was much closer than New Orleans, it feels like a half-mile walk from the car park to my room at the New Orleans. Though the Riviera did suffer from the worst car-park elevators I have ever seen. I guess the hamster that turns the wheel to make them go up and down was de-hydrated or something.

To the right they have self check in computers... took less than 5 minutes.
