  1. Try magblueprinting.com , Adrian Cobb. He does mine and they've always worked. Kevin Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. The work bike is a Police Bike. The 1911 is my duty weapon. The j frame is my back up. The 22 mag is my hideout. The Uzi is my long gun. Space is very limited on a police motorcycle. I looked at several weapons platforms that would fit in a saddle bag & this was my best option. I can fit a M4 SBR but it takes up more room, as does the HK MP 5. I had a mount made that holds the Uzi against the side of the saddle bag, giving me more room in the bag. We already the Uzi's so there was no additional cost to our agency. I was looking for a weapons platform that would cover 25 to 75 yards & the Uzi fills the bill. I can engage targets out to 100 yds with no problem. I have been able to engage steel targets from a supported rest out to 200 yds. Kevin Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  3. Thats on my work bike. When I am on my personal bike, I usually just carry a 45 in a Milt Sparks IWB holster. Kevin Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  4. 1911 Govt model on a belt holster, S&W 642 in the left front pants pocket, & a North American Arms Black Widow 22 mag inside IWB, with a Uzi subgun in the left saddle bag. Kevin Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  5. I have one mounted on my 550. It is useful to keep track of the powder charge in the cases. If I forget to charge a case it will alert me or if I double charge a case. Although with the double charge, there is usually powder spilling out Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  6. Its my understanding that unless the pilot is using night vision goggles, Lasers are very inevictive and hard to see from the cockpit. I was in a training class last year with our Medical Helicopter pilots and they told us we could use the lasers from our Tazers to direct them to our LZ. They use night vision and I guess it stands out very well. We have a state law prohibiting the pointing of lasers at aircraft but like was mentioned earlier, there other elements to the law that also have to be met. Using the laser in an emergency situation would be allowed. Kevin
  7. Apex products will not work for Smokshwn's application. He has to pass an armorer's inspection twice a year. I tried to pass a Apex product through and the armorer caught it. It was on my competition production gun, so I didn't get in trouble. Craig, Burwell's welded over travel mod might pass. I played with one at this years Nationals and as long as the trigger pull stays around 5lbs, the Rangemaster will not disassemble it. You also want one of the other 2 to do the inspection. They will notice the lighter trigger pull, and look to see if the springs have been changed but after that, they haven't been able to figure out where the lighter pull is coming from. They just assume its from the pistol being shot and worn in. Craig, you do know the 1911's will be authorized withing the next 6 weeks? Kevin
  8. I am very disappointed in the Riviera. I hope this is the last year here
  9. After updating I found Microsoft Office doesn't work with Lion. Looks like someone will have to address that. It looks like all my Adobe software works though
  10. Rich, Will your Bomar base allow it to be installed in a Colt Series 80? As it is now, all the Bomar's I have seen on a Series 80 has to have the rear sight blade hang off the back of the slide to clear the Series 80 internal parts in the slide. Thanks Kevin
  11. I feel your pain. I went through this a few months ago. Getting old is not for the week.
  12. Kevin, Cops watch cop shows ?? I love it ! Next thing I'll find out is Craig O. owns Backdraft on Bluray ! Southland is pretty good.. I would bet he does own Backdraft. If not he should.
  13. So I am in a gun shop looking at a 1911. The clerk checks the chamber first, then hands me the gun with the hammer back. I double check the chamber and then lower the hammer. I lower the hammer by holding the hammer back with my thumb, pull the trigger rearward & then lower the hammer. After doing so, the clerk tells me, that by lowering the hammer the way that I did, causes damage to the sear. I know I should have probably just dry fired it but I have an aversion to dry firing someone else gun in a public place. Any way has anyone else ever heard of this? This was a first for me. I don't see how it could do any damage but then I am not a gunsmith.
  14. I am enjoying the show. Their LE technical adviser is pretty accurate with most of Law Enforcement stuff. Its still Hollywood, but it's nice to see them trying to be accurate. Last season, Cooper & the rookie respond to a Domestic Violence call & Cooper gives them a divorce "by all the power invested him by the State of California". I have wanted to do that in so many calls. Here is your divorce, now one of you go this way and the other that way. Don't call us again. Another time Cooper is directing traffic and someone comes up to him asking what happened? He replies, "nothing, a UFO landed, move along". I loved it. :roflol:
  15. I have 2 of COM belts and I really like them. Rick is a good & honest person to deal with. I believe he will treat you right. For a company to outsource their belts is not unusual. SHOT always takes up a lot of Company's time to prepare for. I have a belt on order from Safariland and it doesn't look like its going to ship anytime soon. Kevin
  16. I have been using magblueprinting.com & they have been awesome. I have been able to get 21 in a STI mag. Talk with Adrian. Kevin
  17. I love my Case Pro and Mike has been great to work with. It does take some time for him to deliver the product but as I understand it, this is a part time venture for him. He has another full time business that takes up most of his time. Its worth the wait.
  18. I would respectfully disagree. When targets are placed at 90 degrees to the shooters start position or when vision barriers are placed restricting shooters options and forcing them to shoot close to the 180, I consider those 180 traps. Yes they can be shot safely but why do they need to be there? When by moving the targets or the shooters start position by a few feet, it will change everything. Doesn't placing targets that close to the 180 cause safety problems for the spectators? Especially at a range like Desert Sportsman? They already have a lot of ricochets and bullets bouncing over your head. I believe it is very likely that if targets are continued to be placed close to the 180, it is only a matter of time until a spectator is hit by a deflected bullet. There was a stage at 2010 Nationals where a pepper popper was placed close to the 180, resulting in significant splatter being returned towards the spectators. If stages are going to be continued to be designed this way, we might need to find a better way to contain the bullet. Clint Smith @ Thunder Ranch use to use a bullet trap in his Terminator Shoot House, to help contain the bullets. I thought 2010 Nationals did a better job of eliminating 180 degree targets, than in years past but I believe there is still room for improvement.
  19. As long as we are talking about a standard production gun and not an open/race gun. Your left thumb should not be resting on anything. It also should not be applying pressure to the frame. Your left thumb should lay on top of your left hand. If your applying pressure with your left thumb to the gun, you could induce malfunctions by slowing the slide if your up that high or by putting enough pressure on the slide stop, to prevent it from working correctly. A photo or video of your grip would be of tremendous help.
  20. I also use the GRX die, it works very well. Its a little slower to use than my Case Pro. But if you have the time. I use to just run my match ammo through the GRX die.
  21. I also believe it's an advantage to shoot them back to back. Although my scores don't reflect that. I hope they continue with the same format.
  22. You can actually make fast & accurate hits out past 15 yards. I use to qualify with mine out to 25. At 25 I was still able to keep all the shots on target. I would say 15 yds is the effective range for being fast & accurate. I carry one on occasion when the 38 snub fits my wardrobe better.
  23. I have 2 of the Dawson Tuned STI 40 Mags. They each will only hold 20.
  24. I have 3 of them. Of all of my custom 1911's. His are the best of the lot, that are in my collection. One of them is a duplicate of the FBI spec pistol and was built on a Colt platform. I am not sure Wayne does the work his self any longer. For some people that makes a difference. Kevin
  25. I would like to find someone to send some magazines to, to be etched. Freedom Gunworks isn't accepting magazines at this time. I really like how Bobby etched on the mags and would like to find someone to send mine to, just to be etched.
