Perforator replied to GunBugBit's topic in 1911-style Pistols
We should start a club. My thumb safety snapped in the same place. Second stage of a match. Just dropped her off at the smith to have a new one fitted. -

2014 MGM Ironman
Perforator replied to tgibson's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
Actually the 1st time I heard that line was in 1983 in a TV show called Wizards and Warriors. -
I love the fact that this sports allows anybody who is safe to participate and have fun. What other sport will allow you to shoot on the same course, and in some cases, either be RO or squad with some of the superstars of the sport. I can't imagine Tiger Woods allowing anybody close. But I had dinner at the same table as Daniel Horner. That's precisely the way I used to describe this sport to my non-shooting friends. I have had the good fortune to be squaded with some of the top guys. I'll never be a great 3gunner (I'm 65) but I love the game. The new popularity of the sport and the limited space in major matches changes the whole dynamic. I was able to plan on at least 4-5 majors each year. Now I can't get in to SMM3G, RM3G has never been a sure thing, IronMan fills up fast. I'm gonna stop talking about it.

I agree. I'm going to wait a couple of days before I get irritated. Even Iron Man takes at least 10-15 minutes to fill up. Maybe the Obamacare programmers coded this match.

I've read 11,701 threads on lubes and this is the first one that made sense. I've been a fan of Slide-Glide for a long time and now I have an actual scientific reason. For oil, the only thing I don't like about Mobil1 is the way it migrates if you get too much in your bolt. The next day it looks like it was applied to the outside.

2012 MGM Ironman
Perforator replied to tgibson's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
The best way I have found to describe it is to say Ironman is like a theme park for shooters, with each stage being a different ride... That's exactly how I described it when I got home. I think the course should stay up all year and we can just go like golfers or sporting clays guys. I know it wouldn't work without Travis and the great RO's, but I can dream. -

Has anybody seen the stage briefing for stage 8? Any guesses about round count for pistol on stage 8? -

Wow... I may need to buy a third 170mm mag I still want to see the written stage briefing, but I'm going to carry six 140mm just in case. -
2012 USPSA 3G Nats...
Perforator replied to maineshootah's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
So if you do NOT have a cart, can you un-case a long gun (with an OBI) at your car and simply carry it to the stage, or would you need to bring the case to a safe area, un-bag (with an OBI) and then bring it to the stage? Thanks very much for the information. Dunno what an OBI is, but they have always said uncase in safe area or you are on yer way home. Open Bolt Indicator? I just rechecked the rules and new changes and still looks like no unbagging long guns at the car. In a Safety Area, Staging Area or under RO supervision are the only legal way to unbag guns. Doug This is an issue that drives me nuts From last years MG Nats: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=119338&st=150 "You can unbag anywhere as long as there is a chamber flag. If you are at the staging area you only need an open bolt. The pistol in a holster removed is a no no. Chris H Endersby Area 2 Director L-2678" -

I use a Bladetech for 3 Gun instead of the Limcat I use for pistol matches. I've seen three DQ's from guns dropped from holsters that would be normally be fine. -

140 is "standard" for a 2011 Limited gun; 170 would be extended. If that's wrong, I'm screwed because I don't own a Glock. -

The FAQ tab on MGM Ironman page has most of your answers, including some that you wouldn't think to ask. Here's the info on mag length: Can I use extended pistol magazines in limited? Open? Trooper? Heavy rifle? No, Yes, Yes, No – this is all dependent on the magazine you are referring to. Pistol mags can be extended in Open, Trooper, and Scoped Tactical (if your pistol is your open gun) •Open – As long as you want. •Trooper – As long as you want. •Scoped Tactical – 140mm max. •Heavy Rifle – 140mm max. -
Any thoughts on the new 1x4 from SWFA

Have you seen any pricing yet? I've been looking at the Leupold 1-6 ($900) and the Swaro ($2400). -
Add me to the former 1100 shooter; current Benelli shooter. I shot trap with an 1100 for 10 years with no problems. Two seasons of 3Gun and the intercepter latch fell out the bottom along with several little parts.
