  1. Thanks everyone. Should be a good one to leave under the Christmas tree someday.
  2. Does anyone know the history of this type of AR. My old man passed away when I was young and he left me this AR dummy gun. It looks very real and I was wondering if anyone had any info. He was stationed at FT Dix in NJ when he brought it home. I was the coolest kid on the block....nowadays i would have been locked up or shot down for playing ARMY on the streets with this thing. sorry for the blurry pics
  3. these were a great deal when they first hit the market. i think they were 600-700$. Know that aren't much of a bargin. Look at the remy 700 sps varmint for around $475..kinda like a small block chevy or 10/22. You can build it up as you wish
  4. My grandpa was a diesle mechanic and I watched him drive a hot metal scribe through his nails more then once. He smashed countless fingers pulling axles on the Jersey turnpike in the middle of the night. He was one tough old guy and I don't even think he owned underoos...

If you had to add one of those comic book bubbles over this guys head what would it say? He is the captured "Pirate" if you missed the news

  7. I think you about covered it. Meopta seems to be the one everybody likes for daylight illumination.
  8. cool photo work. How did you get the floating back drop?
  9. My stuff JP AR Benny-elli M1 Valtro 1911
  10. Good insight everyone. I also noticed an interesting succession of panic purchases. From my standpoint it went like this: 1. Mags - pmags went to an instant 6-8 week backorder 2. Stripped lowers - people without funds making the best of it and a few people looking to make a buck 3. Complete Rifles (Ar, etc) - everyone that ever wanted one came out of the woodwork 4. All the custom guys (laRue, Noveske, JP) were flooded with orders and had major work flow back-ups 4. AR lower parts kits (AR10's were hit very hard) -everyone with stripped lowers hoping not to get stuck with useless castings. 5. Bolts and Bolt carriers - same people from above realized they still need uppers to make it go bang. 6. Ammo of all sorts 7. Reloading supplies (mostly primers and powder) On the up side and in an interesting reverse order 1. We are starting to see pmags available (at a few bucks more then they were) 2. Stripped lowers are back under $150 and available from secondary suppliers 3. Rifles are back down a bit and you see a few on the shelf 4. Classifieds are filling up with people selling off Mags and uppers at "ok" prices 5. Spare parts are dripping back into the system Still very scary 1. There is not a primer to be found (unless you pay $75 a thousand on GunBroker) 2. Everyday brings on new "AWB" or "tax out of exsistance" scare depending on what paper or website you frequent 3. I can't help but think we are going to lose some of the sporting industry "small guys" when this rubber band snaps
  11. When/If things settle down do you think there will be a flood of guns, reloading components, magazines, etc back into the marketplace? If so, do you think Gun/Ammo companies will have a "dead zone" where sales drop like a rock? Reloaders and folks like us (avid shooters, etc) will probably keep what they managed to gather but what about the occasional shooter and average guy who cautiously bought what he could and down the road needs the money for other hobbies/bills? This whole "situation" is an amazing demonstration of Micro and somewhat Macro-economics. This will be a real test for the industry. Thoughts? (without the politics...I already got a few "reminders")
  12. Thanks everyone. Fly-pack/ship and fly seems to be the way to go. Hope it is worth it. My friends dad gave me a rough description b4 i sent him the cash. When I asked how much ammo he had he said "a whole bunch" (???). So i could be getting a few boxes or Raiders of the lost ark treasure...lol He was into the whole survivialist movment back when me and his son were kids in the 70's so I am hoping for the best. I'll let you know how it works out....
  13. Anybody know of a cheap way to rent a car for a one-way trip from NJ to NE? I bought my good friend's dads guns and ammo and need to get them back to my new home in NE. He is paranoid about shipping and I need to get this stuff out of his attic. If anybody is headed this way from NJ let me know
  14. Supply, demand, fear, greed, emotions, hording, panic....pick one they all drive prices. Ammo, gold, stocks, small cars when gas is high, big cars when gas is cheap, Big houses when mortgages are low, Apartments when mortgages are high. Everything cycles....look for a bunch of cheap AR's and reloading supplies when the wives figure out where the savings went.

  16. I wonder how this guy feels about her new look ps. it shows your age if you instantly remember this show and the boyhood thoughts young Valerie inspired
  17. Not really looking for anything super fancy. I would to organize, edit and manipulate digital photos. Any advice?
  18. I throw a piece of griptape on the contact areas. Helps with slippery blade-techs as well
  19. Stick with Pin Shooting and 10/22's...you seem to have those figured out. Just kidding Joe. You'll do fine. Gio (Jason "the pinkiller")
  20. Hunting down a 21inch gun isn't as big of a deal if you go +6. (the tube will reach out to about 23.5) More common 24's will not be much dis-advantage as far as length goes and weight is not really an issue.
