  1. Sadly true for a lot of us. The money we know we saved goes to buying more reloading components and gear
  2. I always ask myself how much do I really spend per round of hand loaded ammo. So I decided to write this little program and share to those of you that are wondering how much really does it cost to load your own ammo. http://web.mac.com/packetdog2000/iweb/ligh...ammocalculator/
  3. Awesome DIY! Thanks for sharing this information. This will be in my bookmark list. Do you have a DIY on how to turn sand into either VV320 or VV3N38?
  4. I use IMR 7625 for several reasons. I like the feel when loaded to major PF in my gun. Second is it's availability, price and third it's clean burn. I also like VV350 and VV3N38 but availability is the downside. For me, powder selection in an open gun takes more time and effort than Standard/Limited division due to the different configurations of the pistols involved. Good luck on your choice.
  5. Thanks for this post. I really think there has to be a guideline/standard in designing and manufacturing steel targets. An RO in Area4 a few years back had a nick on his neck and missed his jugular by less than an inch. It really doesn't need a big sized shrapnel to sever a jugular vein. Imagine that shrapnel hitting his jugular in an area match-or any of USPSA match.
  6. + 1 to the third party RAM(as long as it's reputable). Also consider faster HD disk speed(or RAID) if you are running apps that uses the more than RAM can handle(like Maya and FCP when rendering). It does get expensive but if speed is a priority, adn budget is not an issue, this should speed your rig.
  7. If you decide on D60, take a look at D40X as it really does not have that much of a difference, except the price. Whatever you choose, they are all great camera bodies with strengths and weaknesses(Just like S_I's, Glocks, ARs, etc.) . Soon enough, you'll want another one(just like S_Is, Glocks, ARs, etc.). So, consider investing on good glasses as camera bodies come and go, but good glass lasts a long time. My 2 cents
  8. 4 boxes of Montana Gold 124 grain CMJ. Opened last box mid November and about 1/2 of it left. In hindsight, that's a lot of money nowadays! I enjoyed burning each one of them, though.
  9. I've been using Macs at home and work. 17" MBP with 2gig RAM and Mac Pro quad core with 6gig RAM gets things done in my line of work. 17" gives you a good wide screen but not as portable as I would wish.I'm switching to 15" MBP (OS X Leopard) as my 17" tends to be less portable(bulky and heavy). It should come by next week. I prefer Parallels over BootCamp as it's easier to switch between environments. I still work on PCs (some apps that would not run right in Parallels) but otherwise, Mac is my preferred machine. Good luck on your choice!
  10. Unconfirmed (but very reliable) report is that Max beat Eric G. I sure would love to hear from folks that shot the match!
  11. Recently visiting the newly opened Bass Pro Shop here in Pearland TX and saw this. $0.50 per match(about 3 stages.. depending on shooters skill). No extreme weather issues. They provide your open gun. ammo provided. tough competition... Hope you have one nearby. Cheers.
  12. +1, I left the station between the powder measure and seating die empty so i can visually verify that there IS powder inside before i seat the bullet.
  13. Not exactly on all of them. Check out this link: sv recommeded powder
  14. +1 I plan to give up breathing, eating, and paying alimony. +1 It's my only sport/passion and my wife fully understands it. It's ipsc or my sanity.
  15. Wish i could go... Shred's on their website: http://www.copacolumbus.com/
  16. try this free plugin: http://picturesync.net/
  17. I always admire the cowboy shooters. They know how to dress up for the occasion. Someday, when i get bored with IPSC(might not happen in the near future), I'll suit up and join too.
  18. 3 stages with less than 20 rounds 9 stages with at least 30 rounds minimum round count = 334 hmmmm..... i guess i need to bring more ammo!
  19. In addition to CMJ, MGB also has Jacketed Hollow Point(JHP). JHP has a jacketed base, much like CMJ. Zero jacketed bullets also has jacketed base.
  20. New Starline SC is around $124.85 plus shipping. $111.35 for regular .38 Super plus shipping. I guess it becomes negotiable if it's once or more fired.
  21. Awesome job, Dave! I need you to take a picture of my old truck and make it look like i just got it from the dealership:-} Thanks for sharing your creative talent!
  22. Do i need to check for lead content on my Dillon Electronic Scale then?
