  1. Many thousands and never a problem, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the newer production stuff is lacking in quality control nowadays. My first guess is just Primers not being fully seated but you say they are. What press are you using?
  2. With all the chatter and speculation, let’s see them. Who’s ready?
  3. Nice! OK now we need to load info please Nine or super? What powder?
  4. Sarge offered the best advise. Hoppes #9 and q-tip. I also keep the micro q-tips around to get down in to clean the lens of the emitter.
  5. Thanks for letting us know your process and what worked. Thinking I might have to find a cheap 9 mm barrel and try porting close to the chamber as well just to see for myself.
  6. Look at the bottom where it says “choose files” You can select a picture from your phone. Just be sure to resize it to a smaller image if necessary
  7. Look at law enforcement supply type shops. I know they sell coats with splits on the holster side so you can zip it up and allow the gun to be available
  8. If the match director does not want shots to go through separations of walls or barricades it’s as simple as stapling a no shoot target over the crack. Takes a couple seconds and problem solved. Otherwise if you can see it you can shoot it.
  9. The best thing you can do is set up a couple of drills and run both guns with a timer. The timer won’t lie to you and the score on the targets should be evident as well. It’s different for everybody.
  10. Yes it was. Thanks for all your efforts, Brian.
  11. If you look around the scorpions are not hard to find lightly used. I ended up buying two of them last year one for $900 and one for $950 one was brand new the other one same as new condition. One was from Arms list and the other from Gunbroker. Didn’t really intend to buy two of them but after buying the first the second one popped up for a killer deal so had to own it.
  12. I’m a fan of the Ruger 22/45 and eventually ended up buying the Volquardsen Scorpion pistols, but there are plenty of options. CWA is an excellent option for a 1911 style as well. You might look around in the steel challenge area under other shooting sports down below for lots of information.
  13. Those bushings are money wasted. A good comp does make a difference with minor loads but needs to be an actual comp which means a new barrel as well.
  14. If you were wanting the tandem cross lower for being aluminum you might consider the Volquartsen scorpion since it’s basically the same as the black mamba but with their aluminum competition lower. They use the older takedown system but I’ve had that system for years and it’s a piece of cake once you know what you’re doing. I have a 4.5” and 6” Scorpion and they are very nice quality guns. They run standard velocity ammo perfectly. I would certainly not steer you away from a CWA as I’ve known Chet for a few years and his guns are as good as it gets as well. You can’t go wrong with your choices at this point.
  15. I checked the website yesterday morning about 9:30 AM Eastern time and was able to order a case of 115 JHP. Already got a shipping notice so they are on the way.
  16. It’s an Open gun so there is always a chance of the slide cracking. I’m not really concerned as there is really no stress in that area.
  17. I wanted an Open gun dedicated to shooting minor ammo for 3 gun and steel challenge. The 5” ran on minor ammo but had this idea in my head so I bought a commander length Trubor barrel and got to work. I also put a commander reverse plug and spring in it and shortened the guide rod. Runs great on a 7# spring and 135 pf ammo. I have a couple of 8# springs in case the 7 proves to be problematic. I’ll refinish or have it chromed at the end of the season.
  18. I know a Glock mag with a base pad to 140mm will hold 23 rounds + 1 in the chamber. Not sure about other combinations.
  19. I ordered a barrel listed as in stock and had it within a couple of weeks.
  20. Never heard of shims for barrel extension. If it were mine I would just clean the threads up really well and put it back together with red loctite or rockset and call it good. Of course my free advice is just that and to be followed at your own risk.
