  1. I’m still kicking myself for not buying a brand new vista short 9mm instead of the used custom Sti I bought. My sti is a nice gun don’t get me wrong, but every aspect of SPS’s guns are just that much better. My sps limited gun is a true piece of art. The sps vista 9mm seem to be totally out of stock everywhere. Only the 38s are left.
  2. I’ve only ever used hs-6, and I really like how it shoots. But my dot does wiggle a bit like you said. To bad I just bought 8 more pounds, I’d like to try another powder just for kicks and see if i it tracks better. Maybe I’ll buy some 1lb jugs and try out some new loads late this spring..
  3. Dang that’s light. That’s right around what my Precision bolt gun is set at.
  4. It has more of a surface then my factory one did. I almost thought I’d have to take a little off, but I didn’t and it worked great.
  5. Saw it on Facebook, looks sweet!! I hope he hurry’s up and finishes it, because I’m next in line. Think he said he was hoping to finish yours tomorrow, but don’t quote me on that.
  6. I like some pretravel also, in both my pistols and rifles, especially rifles. I like to prep/stack the trigge and find the wall, then realign my sights and then let it break. Little different with pistols cause we’re shooting much faster. I just don’t like it when it’s right on the wall and the first bit of pressure causes it to break. Like I have a bit of take up to find the wall. When I’m shooting fast I don’t even notice the pretravel since I’m usually just bouncing off the reset. But for longer shots I find it very helpful to have some.
  7. I’m using a Dawson. It’s a high quality part imo. I have plastic grip on both of mine and use a mix of sti, sps, and mbx mags. All work great.
  8. Yes sir, 180g plated flat points. Pretty sure the data I used was from Lee. My house is all packed up right now but if I can find it after work I’ll put up some pics.
  9. How does hp38 feel recoil wise? I use mostly titegroup and I think it’s pretty soft for 40 major, and it tracks really well. I just finished up a pound of regular clays, and that was reallt soft. But I don’t think I noticed quite enough difference between it and TG to justify how I don’t want to say dangerous, it can be. Don’t hear a lot about hp-38. Next I wanted to try n320.
  10. I have 2 mbx big sticks, one has stock guts and I can get 29 in it and still seat it in the gun for starts. The other one has the bolen ultra thin +1 follower and 13 coil spring. Exact same thing taran offers now. But I get 30 in that one, and again I can seat it with a ton of force for starts. If I ever reloaded to these mags I’d download by 1. But I always start with the bit stick and reload to one of my 140s that hold 24-25rds.
  11. My current favorite is 4.5g titegroup with 180g blue bullet loaded at 1.180. Fed or win SPP. It’s around 950fps. Pretty soft shooting for a 40. I did a latter test a month or so ago, it was around 50 degrees out. All done with 180g blue bullet at 1.180. 3.8 grains 853fps 4 grains- 879fps 4.2 grains 902fps 4.4g 937fps 4.6g 997fps. So after these results, I wanted a little more velocity then the 4.4, but less then 4.6. So I settled on 4.5. I want to try the 200s. I actually ordered a case of 2300 back during the Black Friday sale, but then I had second thoughts about buying that kind of quantity with no idea I’d my gun would like them or not, so I switched my order to the 180s I usually shoot. Definitely gonna pick up either a sample pack or 1 box of the 200s In the near future. I always liked how the heavy for caliber bullets shot in 9mm.
  12. Wow, my load data for it I believe had the start around 5.2 and max was a little over 6, so I decided on 5.8gs. I never chronod the load though. But if 4.8g gave you 945, I imagine the 5.8 I was loading was probably over 1100fps. It was loaded pretty short too, 1.135 since it was loaded back when I shot glocks. Never noticed any pressure signs though, but the recoil was kinda harsh.
  13. I just did the sane thing. Should have switched over a long time ago.
  14. I sent don at venom my 38 open gun with a new 9mm barrel, grip, racker, and a bunch of other stuff, he’s gonna totally rebuild it, then do some slide cuts and then refinish it. Can’t wait to get it back. Should be right around the time I’m moving to my new 15 acre property which short after will be equipt with my own private range!
  15. I carry a p365 also. I really don’t think there is a better gun out there for Ccw. High capacity, and small package. Up until 2017 you had to pick one. Either concealbility, or capacity, you couldn’t get both. With the 365 you do get both. I was the kind of person that liked to buy new carry guns 6-8-12 months. When I saw something new that I liked. Ever since the 365 I feel no need. It’s just as good as it gets. Maybe some day I’ll buy a second just to have a backup. But this may be the last carry I gun I ever buy.
  16. Now I only need to wait about 3 weeks for my open gun to be finished. I hate waiting.
  17. I love my Lyman trigger pull gauge. One of the best tools I’ve bought. Hopefully it lasts a long time.
  18. Ya the 2k is how I got the 9 cents. 178 for 2k. That’s really pretty cheap. Considering they’re one of the best jacketed bullets right? Only 2 cents more then coated lead. Either PD is really cheap, or coated lead is over priced. Cause it seems there should be a bigger price difference between the two. And the blues are cheap at 7 cents. Lot of other brands are more expensive.
  19. I’m getting to excited. Don only got my gun and parts yesterday. Luckily he’s fast, but man idk if I can wait 3 weeks. I can’t wait to get the finished product and develop a new 9 major load.
  20. I’m gonna give PD bullets a try for 9 major. 9 cents a piece isn’t bad. I usually buy blues for about 7. So not a huge difference. Neither my limited or my open gun have ever shot a jacketed bullet.
  21. I’m gonna give this thing a shot. At just over 1/3rd the price of a MBF, it’s worth a try, since the reviews are good. Gonna put it on my loadmaster. But for the 1050 I’m about to buy, I’m gonna get the real deal mbf.
  22. Not sure I like the sound of “pretty reliable”. I think I’m still going to buy a Mr bullet feeder for my new 1050, an I’ll buy one of these for my loadmaster.
  23. Back of jack, this is my little secret. But no, he just does his thing out of a private Facebook group.
  24. I like 1.5lbs, that’s basically where both of mine are set. My new Brazos trigger group i just put in my limited gun is actually a bit lighter, coming in around 15-16ozs. It doesn’t feel to light either. Just bought it to the range today and it ran 100%, no follow or anything. It’s a phenomenal trigger. When i came over from glocks and felt a 1.5lb trigger in my friends SV I was like no way, that’s way to light. Then I got my first 2011 and it came with just over a 2lb triggerI. I quickly got used to that and loved it. Then I bought my open gun used and it came with a 1.5lb trigger. I really liked it too, and coming from a 2lb down to a 1.5 isn’t a big difference. It’s all about proper fundementals and trigger control/discipline. If you don’t have that, then having a 3lb or 5lb trigger isn’t going to save you from having NDs Imo.
  25. Took my limited gun out to the range today with the new Brazos trigger installed and man it’s sweet. Ran 100rds though it and it ran perfectly. It’s unbelievable that this is a drop in trigger, breaking at 15ozs and runs 100%. No hammer follow, nothing, just perfection. It’s got the most crisp break, nice reset. I couldn’t be happier. And my safety that I fit works as it should. Great product, I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking for an upgrade.
