  1. I’ve had two Brazos triggers now. One dropped in 100% no fitting needed for my open gun, then the other needed just a little fitting to the lug on the thumb safety for my open gun. Both dropped in right around 1.5lbs. Super crisp pulls. Brazos cuts the angles on the sear and the hammer hooks then put it in a gun and puts the correct amount of tension on the sear spring. Great product.
  2. I agree, haven’t seen anyone who is willing to pay 4400 for a manual press. 2750-2999 was much more reasonable for a manual press. And for 400 bucks extra you get a set of 30 dollar lee dies. What a deal lol. Looks like the 1050 plus bullet feeder is around 2k, another 1200 and you get the ammobot, so total you in for 1000+ bucks less then the cost of a manual evo. I’d love to get a evo, I really would. 10 stations is awesome. I’d love to upgrade to the primer collator down the road. But 4000 plus is just to much for me.
  3. Looks like it shoots really smooth. But it also looks cold out there lol. I don’t miss the snow at all. It’s nice living down south and shooting year round. Doesn’t seem to be holding you back though. I can’t wait to get back out this weekend and shoot mine.
  4. So with the 140s and tarans 7mm and the taran ultra thin +1 follower and 11 coil spring you’ll get 25rds of 9. I would just go with their regular follower though, that will get you 24. I personally use grams with taran 7mm basepads and I get 23, with 24 being very tight. And I have one mag with the taran ultra thin +1 and I get 25. Seems like wirh tarans spring and follower you’ll get about 1 more round then with grams. I haven’t tried their regular follower yet but I’m gonna pick one up to try soon.
  5. This is kinda what I do. Except I’ve been using Remington bore bright, the stuff with the white cap. And after letting it sit for a bit I scrape it off with a dental pick. I’m also shooting JHPs now instead of coated blues.
  6. Interesting. I always felt thd 3-3.2g titegroup was softer. But my wife says that 3.8g unique with 147g is softer. Unique is more of a push, whereas titrgroup is snappy. Either are plenty soft imo. But I’ll be sticking with unique from now on for her
  7. You gotta use 147s for the wife. I had a super soft shooting 147g load, but being cheap, I didn’t want to pay for 147s for her. It’s like 75 bucks for 1000 147 blues and 80 for for 1300 115s. So I figured I could save some money and work up a light load for her. Think i used 4.5g of unique, which I believe is below the starting load in the books for 115 9mm loads, I think the range goes all the way up to 6.3 or so, do it was a really light charge. Anyways she hated them. Way to snappy. Even with a super light, under book load it still wasn’t anywhere near as tame as 3g of titegroup. Her favorite now is 3.5g unique with a 147g blue. I really think the 3g titegroup is the softest, but I load what she tells me to. I think titegroup is one of the softest powders, so maybe a soft recoiling load with 115s could be worked up. But I’d skip it and go to the 147s. There’s a reason everyone shoots them with titegroup for soft recoil. I’ve even gone down to 2.8 grains and it cycled a g34. No problems what so ever. I could probably go down to 2.5 in my wife’s little sig p320sc. I may try it soon.
  8. Glad I found this thread. I just got my gun and was wondering the same thing. I think mind look a little less flat then yours? But I think you’re g2g. I’ve seen way worse when I was using soft fed small pistol match primers. They’re super soft. Here’s what mine looked like with 8g hs6, 124g jhp 1.170. Fed SRP. still pretty soft primers. Just loaded some up with win SRP to see how those look.
  9. This is one thing I’m really not looking forward to with the upgrade to the Dillion. I gotta pay another 300 bucks to efficiently fill primer tubes. I’d say this is the one area where lee excels. Just dump the tray of primers, shake for a few seconds and you’re done. Oh well, atleast every other aspect of a 1050 will be better then my loadmaster.
  10. Damn, now it’s 4400? I thought it was 4000, which was already way to much.
  11. I would say yes it should be smooth as glass upon delivery. When I bought my Sps limited gun, it felt like the slide was on ball bearings. And still does today.
  12. Got out to the range today and tested her out. The gun shoots like a dream. Trigger pull is great, the comp and holes in the barrel kept the gun super flat. A lot more tame then the last barrel with no holes. This comp design is a lot more efficient then the trubor t2 comp. I used to shoot 9 out of my 38, so I know what 9 major felt like in this gun before. It’s a completely different gun now. Dot movement was predictable and repeatable. The dot would return back almost instantly. Basically and up and back down movement. No zig zag which is what it used to do. It really shot well. I shot 500rds; chronod a few different loads. I estimated that it would take 8g of hs-6 with a 124g bullet and I was spot on. 10 shot average was 1373. The bullet was the Everglades V2 124g jhp loaded to 1.170, fed SRP. This was also the most accurate load I tested, about 1.5 inches at 15 yards. And I’m not a very precise pistol shooter, so this is pretty good for me. Second and third accuracy wise was a toss up between 7.9g hs6 with 124g plated RN. No signs of the jacket coming apart, this load chronod average of 1360. Just had these bullets laying around so I loaded them up to get rid of them. And 125g costed blue bullet behind 7.7g hs6. Like I said the plated and this coated load were almost exactly the same for accuracy, it was pretty good, way more then sufficient for our sports. I’d say the group size was approx 2.5 inches at 15 yards, maybe a bit less. The last load I tried was with 115g Montana gold cmj . I loaded them up with 8.5g hs6. 1.155, fed SRP. This load came in around 166pf average. About 1450fps. I didn’t like how the load felt compared to the 124g jhp load. It was a lot harsher, more dot movement. And the accuracy was bad. Not sure why, but the group was like 5-6 inches at 15 yards. If I was gonna stick with it I’d bump the powder charge up to 8.1-8.2g to get around 170pf. Overall the gun ran perfect. I didnr have a single malfunction i could attribute to the gun. And for the first 400rds I didn’t have any malfunctions. But the last 100rds my sti gen 2 mags started giving me problems. They started randomly nosediving a lot. Then I’d fire a few mags with my MBX and they’d cycle fine. So it wad definitely these mags. But what’s weird is 1 had taran guts and one had grams, and I had the exact same problem with both. So that makes me think it’s something with the tube. It’s also suspect that they ran fine the first 400 rounds. So idk what’s going on there. Hs-6 is a filthy powder, and the gun was caked with crap at the end. But I don’t think that would cause nosedives. I wasn’t dropping mags either so they didn’t get like more and more dirty as the practice went on. So idk. But overall very happy with the gun so far. But 500rds of hs-6 makes you realize just how filthy this powder is. Usually I only shoot 250-300rds per range day, and clean after. But man after 500 the gun was filthy. Usually it takes me 15 mins to clean my guns after a single range session. It took me an hour today to get all that residue out. Got about 7.5lbs left, but after this is done I may be looking for something new.,
  13. She’s finally complete. Here’s a before and after. What a difference! I knew don would make it look good, but not this good! Really excited to take her out to the range today. Gonna chrono some loads to. I’m gonna have to get used to his new dot. I really loved the big window of my Cmore. But the Romeo 1 has one of the widest windows at 30mms. Not big on it only being 17mm tall. I’d honestly rather it be reversed, 30mm tall and 17mm side. Oh well, I’ll get used to it.
  14. I’d pick up the Brazos kit. He cuts the angles on the sear and hammer, puts it in the gun and puts the proper tension on the leaf spring. It basically drops right in. I have two, one dropped right into my open gun, the second needed the lug on the safety to but slightly fitted. Brazos parts are actually extreme engineeing parts, so super high quality. Both gave me a 1.5lb super crisp trigger. And the hammer sear are extra meaty, so you won’t have to replace the safety. When youre replacing a trigger group, vs building from scratch the safety lugs has already been fitted to a hammer/sear, material has been removed etc, new parts without a lot of extra meat will be to small, and a new safety will be needed to get proper lug engagement. But the exteme put some extra meat on them for this reason. Highly recommend it.
  15. This is what I used to do when I first started loading major. My major load was 7.5g hs-6 with 124g bullet. I’d load up practice rounds at 7 grains. Just felt safer to me at the time when I was just getting Into it. Now I prefer to practice with the same load, so the recoil/impulse/dot tracking is the same. I get once fired brass and I’ll load it 2-3 times before tossing is. But if you like to leave it after the first reload to major, but you’ll shoot minor reloads a few times then you’ll save some money buy not loading practice rounds to major. Probably would be wise to shoot some a few mags worth of true major rounds before a match, as it’s going to be a bit different then your practice load and you wanna be used to it.
  16. Nice!!! I can’t wait to order mine. Probably gonna be another 6 weeks to so. On another hand I took my powder check off the press and added the FCD to separate the steps and my oal got a little more consistent. It’s tough with mixed range brass, even if I’m keeping it to just a few brands. I was aiming for 1.165, and it seemed to be between there and 1.167. So not bad. But then I’d get a random 1.159, or 1.176. Not sure what’s up with that.
  17. I use the same holster for my Pantera and my sti. But I don’t have a Racemastsr holster. I have both a set of racer, and racemaster pouches though, and they’re awsome. I use a Ghost “the one” race holster and I can use it for both my Pantera, and plastids grip sti. I don’t though, I like kydex for limited. I have a bladetech hokster. I don’t think it’s any slower on the draw compared to a race holster. I kinda regret not buying the racemaster holster, but coming from a Glock and a safariland 014, I was stuck on muzzle support. I’m suprised it doeant fit. Sti and sps plastic grips are so similar.
  18. I like the look of the new one in the DVC open. I just bought one of the extreme shooters DVC grip to put on my open gun. I thought it looked much better then the regular polymer grip. Idk why sti doesn’t develop their own metal grip. Could have used the same design as this new one, just metal. They did it in the past, although they had problems with them cracking prematurely. But if all these other companies can do it, and everyone is ditching the stock plastic grip for metal they might as well listen to the market. Plastic grips are out, except for people like me who don’t have 600 bucks to spend on a grip.
  19. Everglades Romeo mount showed up today as well as some 124g v2 jhp’s. Loaded up some of them with 8.0gs of hs-6, federal SRP, 1.170 oal. That’s what I estimate will make major. Before I used to shoot 9 out of the 38 super barrel and 7.5g, which was my major load in my Glock only made about 155pf, 1240fps, and that was with a coated lead bullet which usually take less powder. That barrel had no holes. So I’m guessing with the same length barrel with 2 holes 8g should get me there, or close. Gonna get out to the range on Saturday to chrono and test the gun out.
  20. I went the route of having my older gun completely worked over and re done. And I’m extremely happy with how it came out. Basically every small part was replaced, plus the barrel, grip, magwell. It’s easier to list what wasn’t replaced, and that’s the slide and frame. Every single other part wad replaced. And it cost about 1/4th-1/6th the price of building a totally new gun. I figure I can reload about 40,000 rounds of ammo with the money I saved by not building a new gun. Here’s some before and after.
  21. Just got my open gun back from the smith and he’s got the trigger set at about 18ozs. It doesn’t feel to light either imo. Extreme hammer, sear and disconnector, SV bow, and I think he said he uses a 16lb main spring. The main spring seems a bit light, but what do I I know, I’m no custom gun smith. As long as it reliably sets off the primers I use I’ll be happy. If not, I have no problem going up to a 19 or so. I really wouldn’t mind if the trigger pull went up a few ozs.
  22. My limited gun is also an SPS, and I was contemplating having him turn it into a sight tracker. With either one of the Schumann hybrid barrels or one of the new KKMs. Decided not to, as I think it would void the warranty. It would have been sweet though. You’ll have to post some pics when they’re all done.
  23. I had heard and expected 3 weeks. It actually took 2 weeks on the dot. I’m not a very patient person, but I didn’t even have time to start bothering him daily asking when it was gonna be done lol.
  24. That’s exactly what I did. At first I was sending him all these pics of slide designs I liked. Then finally I was just like work your magic man, you’re the artist here, do whatever you think will look good . All I do is copy other designs lol. And I couldn’t be happier with how it came out. I never would have thought of tri topping the comp. not to mention all the other stuff he did. I think I’m gonna very slowly start acquiring parts for next build with him. It won’t be for a year or two, but slowly buying everything won’t be such a shock to my bank account lol. But I’m gonna do a hybrid barrel, one of the new KKMs, binary comp, PT grip, either full dustcover or butler cut. Then probably all the same trigger components. Extreme hammer and sear etc. but I’m gonna shoot the s#!t out of this gun first.
  25. It’s actually a custom color. It’s 3 parts 1 color 1 part another. I wanna say it’s 3 parts sniper gray 1 part titanium. It really looks incredible in person.
