  1. Dang, those are some quality springs!
  2. That could definitely cause it to stove pipe. My open gun does the same thing with light loads. Somehow my limited gun doesn’t though. I loaded up some 180g blues behind 3g of regular clays (4.3 makes major) and man were these bunny fart loads, felt like shooting a 22l, but it cycled them without issue, same 12lb recoil spring. The load had to be around 135pf or so. But ya 125 is really really low for a 40 with 180g bullets. Upping you charge will probably solve the problem.
  3. I’m gonna have to look into that. One thing I really liked about my glocks was being able to switch the mag release side.
  4. I’m a lefty and I’ve been wanting to put a right side release on my two 2011s but the problem I’m seeing is mbx mags only have the cutout for the release on the one side, they’re not Ambi. Sti mags have the little window cutout on both sides so it would work with the mag release on either side. For both my 9mm and 40 I have a mix of mbx and sti mags. It doesn’t look like it would be to difficult for someone to cut the hole on the other side of the mags though, but still more work. As you can see in the pic here, only the sti mag is ambi, the mbx, and my sps mags are not so the hole would have to be cut on the other side. Again probably not very difficult, but these are expensive mags to make a mistake on.
  5. Those guns are so badass. If I could find a used on for sale next year I’d snatch it up. Sounds like they shoot great. And i know they look great.
  6. I’m gonna be upgrading soon. My loadmaster gets it done pretty much as fast as I need. I can comfortably do about 500rds per hour, including filling primer trays and all. But as I get older I have less and less time. So a 1050 with a bullet feeder will double my output. My wife and I don’t even have kids yet. I can only imagine once I have to take them to sports practice and this and that my time will be even more limited. It’ll be nice to spend a Saturday morning making enough ammo for 6 months. I’m gonna add an anmobot at some point too.
  7. I have one myself, also first gen. It’s been great. I don’t think it would hold me back.
  8. Like the guy above me said, the aftermarket support for rem 700 actions is so much bigger then for savage. And for some reason the bolt cycling with a savage action is never as smooth as a 700. And I shoot a savage 10, it’s incredibly accurate. But they’ve always had bolt lift problems. I never have issues ejecting though. I don’t really need any aftermarket support either, the accutrigger is great, breaking right around 1lb. But you can’t even really buy an aftermarket 2 stage trigger if you wanted. The way s savage rifles are there isn’t enough room for it. Most of the custom builders use 700s, but that doesn’t mean they’re better then tikkas, howa, or savage actions. I think a good analogy is why so many people shoot glocks over say XDMs or M&ps. There’s a huge aftermarket for glocks, everyone knows how to work on them etc. but that doesn’t mean they’re better then M&P or XDMs. This is the guy to go to for savage aftermarket support. He uses savage actions for custom builds too, http://northlandshooterssupply.com/barrels/criterion-savage/
  9. I have a savage 10 in 6.5 creedmoor. I can hold my own against any of the custom rifles at the range. The gun is incredibly accurate for any price range, let alone the 750 bucks I paid for it. It was around 900 when I bought it plus 150 mail in rebate. I put a $630 factory refurbished vortex viper pst ffp 6-24 on it and was off to the races. Taken her out to 1000 yards many times. With handloads for me it’s a 1/4 moa gun. With factory loads it’s just over half moa. The bullets mine likes the best is the 123g lapua scenar and the 120g SMK. It also shoots the 147g eld well, I’ve pushed it up to 2700fps. It loved RL17 the best, regardless of the bullet, which sucks cause I bought 8lbs of h4350 when I first bought it. It shots 4350 pretty well, still sub moa, but just not as well as rl17. My 6.5 is obviously different then a 308, but it should be just as accurate. Savages blue printing process produces very high quality rifles. I have some 1:10 308s and they like the heavier buckets, with the 175g match king being the best. Good luck.
  10. That looks great. If I could do that to mine I’d forget about wanting a DVC grip. It looks really good. It doesn’t really look that difficult either. I’m pretty good with stuff like this. So I may give it a try. What did you use to initially cut off the bottom of the magwell?
  11. Maybe y’all should design a press, and only charge say 2500 for it. If it was more stations then the 1050, and addressed some of its shortcomings I’d be all over it. I’ll even beta test it free of charge, all I need is the press lol.
  12. I’m thinking about buying another 1 or 2 LCTs. Even though it’s so simple to switch calibers, especially if you have multiple turrets. It’s not like changing over a progressive. I use it for 223; 308, and 6.5. I was thinking about keeping one set up all the time for 308 and another for 223. Again though with how easy it is the change calibers it’s probably not worth it. I have the little cheap lee single stage for push though sizing, and pulling bullets, my LCT for the rifle calibers, and a loadmaster for 9mm and 40 and 380. A lot of people say the loadmaster is finiky and has problems, I’ve loaded 25k trouble free rounds on it. I’ve had it for about 6, which I think is different then 25k over 10 years. It sees a high volume. I haven’t broken anything on it except for a decapping pin before I knew it wasn’t supposed to be so tight. It really runs like a Swiss watch. All three presses ars great. Best value for the money. With that said I’m gonna upgrade to a 1050 in a few months. I want to be able to use a case feeder that holds more then 100 rounds. And I want to be able to use a bullet feeder, plus powder check, or bullet feeder and seat and crimp separately. I want more stations on my toolhead. And the built in seats is awesome. I pick up brass at the indoor range, and getting 50 mil spec 9mm case mixed in causes slot of problems if I don’t sort first. My loadmaster is pretty fast, 500rds an hour or so, but a 1050 with bullet feeder will double that. And I have less and less time as I get older. I’ll still load all my rifle and precision ammo on the LCT.
  13. For primers unless your shooting glocks id say stay away from regular federal small . pistol. They’re just to soft. Any other should be fine. I had/have 20k of them and when they’re done I won’t be buying them again. They’re necessary with glocks and light springs, which is what i shot for years. Now since moving to 2011s there’s no need. The federal and 9 major they flatten so bad, like they couldn’t get any flatter. Then I load up the same recipe with either win spp or even federal small rifle and the primers look totally fine. No pressure signs. I even had some pierced with regular fed Spp. Personally I’m only going to buy SRP from now on for 9 major. I like either fed, win, or cci. I’m sure other brands would be fine too.
  14. That’s awesome man. I’ve thought about the possibly of doing that. I’d really like to run a bigger magwell. But I have really big hands, with my other 2011 with a regular sti grip and a big Dawson magwell the grip is to small. So I put the Dawson big hands magwell on it and it’s better, but still slightly to small. Since the Pantera magwell is not to big and it’s integrated so it doesn’t take up any grip space, it fits me perfect. So idk what to do. Maybe a DVC XL grip. But this is cool. Maybe I’ll try it. If I screw it up it’s not a lot to replace it with a new grip. I already have an extra Dawson magwell laying around. I rewlly like how this looks with the new magwell.
  15. The 1050 plus mr bullet feeder is around 2300, it the manual evo was around say 3000, I could probably justify it. Being that it’s 3500-4000, I just can’t. I’m only a few years out of school, still early in my career not making a ton of money. Buying a new house very soon (on 15 acres so my own private gun range and huge reloading room). Wife wants kids soon. The difference in price over a lifetime is pretty small. But I probably shouldn’t even be buying a 1050 now, my loadmaster is absolutely been a great press, contrary to what you usually read. Only reason I want to upgrade is I want a case feeder that holds more then 100rds and same with a bullet feeder. If I was making more money, say 10 years into my career with a better salary and a decent savings, I could probably swing the mark 7. Im sure I’ll be very happy as with a 1050. Everyone says Dillion’s are so great. My loadmaster has been great, so I imagine the 1050 is gonna be perfect.

It’s so strange. My p365 has been 100% perfect though probably 1500rds. I don’t put a lot of rounds though it, just 50 here and there to stay proficient. Had it for about 11 months. I’m in the sig is junk camp, had a p938 that was nothing but problems. My wife’s 238 has been just ok. I have some sigs built back in 1980s in west Germany that are truly some of the finiest craftsmanship ever made. But the new ones are not good. Like you said some, probably 50% of the p365s have had serious issues. How did I get a good striker? Did they make 2 batches and one had bad metal. Idk. But with my past luck with sig I thought for sure I would have gotten one of the bad ones. But, no. Mines been perfect, knock on wood lol.
  17. Buy the Lee classic turret press kit. That was my first press, and I just finished loading a few hundred precision 223 loads on it tonight. Been using it for many years and still love it. I can load precision 6.5 creedmoor loads that shoot 3 inch groups at 1000 yards. Or you can pistol ammo Pretty fast. 250rds per hour is a normal pace. Or for making cheap plinking ammo. It does it all. A turret is a great press to learn reloading on. You’re going to make mistakes, I did, pretty sure everyone did. But it’s better to mess up just one round then have a progressive going and screw up a whole bunch of rounds. It’s also easier with the turret since your only focusing on one function, vs a progressive with 5 going at once. A turret is basically as simple as a single stage, but 4 times faster. And the LCT can be utilized as a single when learning, or wanting to make very precise loads by taking out the indexexing rod. Caliber changes are easy, primer changes are done is less then 1 second, literally. And the priming system is incredibly reliable and simple to use. Progressives can be finicky. Theres really no tinkering or complex setup with it, like a progressive that can take a while to set everything up perfect. My father in law was my mentor before I bought my first press. I was thinking about a progressive, and he talked me out of it and into the lee classic turret kit which he also had. I’m glad I listened, as it’s besn a great press that you’ll never grow out of. Later on I bought my first progressive and I was thinking to myself when I was setting It up, man, I would have never been able to figure this out if I didn’t have all the experience I had with my turret. To this day all rifle ammo is done on the turret. Only pistol ammo is done on my progressive. I have a single stage too I use for bullet pulling and push though sizing. Thought it would be more precise for long range precision, but it’s not. The ammo made on my LCT is just as precise as the single stage. Forgot to mention lees customer service is top notch. If you ever need a replacement part theyll have it to you in 2-3 days free of charge. Sorry for the long response. But I was asking the same question as you years ago.
  18. I don’t have a vista, but I have an SPS Pantera. My Sps mags run 100%. But 40 is much much less finiky then 9mm. Much easier to make a 40 and it’s mags run well in a 2011. It’s totally possible that 9mm sps mags will work just as well as my 40 mags do. But why bother when sti cost exactly the same, assuming you’re going to change the guts and basepads. I changed out the guts in mine as the follower that comes in it are total crap. SPS mag is 57-90 dollars depending which one you buy. 18 for springs and followers and 30ish for a basepad. Sti mag tube is 59, 18 for guts and 30ish for a basepad. So the price is the same. One thing I can say about the difference is the sti mags are much more stout. The metal seems harder and a bit thicker. They’ll hold there shape much longer, and have a longer overall lifespan. And another thing, the new Sti mags run straight out of the package, no feed lip or body dimension tuning needed. Most people have to tune their sps mags. Definitely utilize the 2 mags that come with the gun though. They’re a lot like the old and very desiresable Svi mags, they can possibly hold one more round then sti. The 140s that comes with it with a taran 7mm and the taran ultra thin follower they’ll hold minimum 25, if not 26rds. But like I said the basepad and sprIng an follower that comes with the mag are junk.
  19. It’s interesting they were once the “bargain” shop. I haven’t been into it very long, so as long as I have they’ve been like they are now, expensive. The edge being the one exception. Would have been cool to see an sti line up with some entry level cheaper options. Seeing all the different models that come up used now, they used to have quite the selection. Now it’s just the DVC if the edge is out. I don’t think that’s a good business model. They should atleast have a few models. Entry, mid and high, kinda like they used to with the eagle, edge, then idk what was considered high end, but you get the idea.
  20. Ya I agree. Really isn’t much comparison. The trigger, to how they soak up recoil. For completion shooting it can’t be beat. I love both my 2011s. But for carry, home defense, tactical style stuff the Glock can’t be beat. Different tools for differenr jobs. Although, my limited gun is so damn reliable, like no malfunctions in 4000+ rds I’ve had it, I think I’d trust it for a night stand gun/home defense gun. But no need, my glocks do a fine job of that.
  21. I’m in the same boat. Looking to upgrade to either a 1050 or a mark 7. I talked to mark 7 and they said the street price on the Evo will be in the mid 3000s. I believe that comes with the bullet feeder. The Dillion 1050 with mr bullet looks to be around 2300. Not a huge difference, but 1200 bucks is a decent amount of money. But over a lifetime it’s not. If money was no object I’d probably get the mark 7. Being able to add the primer collator down the road is really attractive. I had filling primer tubes. Also 10 stages is great. Being able to use a powder check plus the dropper, seater and separate crimp is great. But Like someone else said, the ammobot is a great value. I’ll probably end up with a 1050, and I’m sure I will be very happy with it. And then add an ammobot down the road. But if I have the money I may go for the Evo.
  22. The Hornady works pretty good. It’s toigh to get it set up just right for coated. But I pulled a good 300 bullets a few weeks ago with it very quickly. Way faster then the hammer.

I’ll have to get my hands on one before I make any judgement, and see if it’s worth replacing my p365 with. It doesn’t get much better then the p365, except my history with sigs is they’re unreliable. This one hasnt been, it’s been 100% perfect though. But all my glocks over the years have been 100%. I have total confidence in Glock. I like having that in a gun that could be used to save my or my family’s lives one day.

It does look to be some type of single stack. The grip is as long as a g19 grip, which accommodate the higher capacity. And the witness holes on the mag are straight up and down, 1-10 down the mag like a single stack, not staggered I hope this isn’t just a g43 slide on a g19 side grip. .

That’s what I was hoping for. Like the sig, and in between double and single.
