  1. They’re going to have a very difficult time in the tactical market when their tactical guns are close to 4K. Most of these guys don’t want to spend anywhere near that on a gun that’s going to get used hard. Hell, I think they’re still have problems if they dropped the price from 3700 down to 1700. Most people just won’t spend that much on one gun.
  2. Idk, I’m a lefty and I’d like to put one on my open gun. I think it would have to be tapped into the frame, which shouldn’t be a problem.

    STI mags

I agree, the new sti mags are great. I have 5 of them, 3 in 9mm 2 40. I’ve tried about every basepad and spring combo now too. For 140mm mags for open you get the 26rds with a grams 11mm and a taran spring and the ultra thin +1 follower. Same guts with a taran 7mm gives you 25. With grams guts and grams 11 you get 24 reloadable, and grams guts and taran 7mm you get reloadable 23, and 24 that’s hard to lock in the gun, but doable. Grams with Dawson 9mm +1 gives you 22. With the SNl it’s 23. I’ve settled on taran 7mm with grams guts for my 140s. Grams guts are Ultra reliable and 23-24rds is plenty for a reload. For 170s I have mbx, they came with my gun. No reason to bother with the old ones now. The new ones run right out of the box. No tuning needed.

    G43X

Wait it’s a single stack? The 43x. I figured it was like the p365, staggered type mag. I agree the 43 currently is a little big did 6 measly rounds.
  5. Well, it’s not really anymore. It seems if you buy the atlas, Akai, SV, CK, or hell even SPS or any of the semi/custom guns, they run right out of the box. My sps limited gun didn’t need any kind of break in period, its just ran though 4000+ rounds. It’s just sti. My open gun, which is a Frankengun build with various parts from a reputable builder, same thing no problems. It’s funny though. If you go back and read threads from years ago when sti was more dominant, someone would say what you just said and he’d get pounced on and everyone would take turns explaining to him why it’s ok that their 4000 dollar gun had to take 3 trips back to the smith over a 6 month period to work. Now, people aren’t putting up with that s#!t. And It’s about damn time. Seems like every 2011 builders guns work Right out of the box now, or they have very minor issues for the first 200rds. Of course from time to time there’s an issue. But it’s the exception, not the rule. Back in the day it was the rule.
  6. I don’t have a DVC limited, or an sight tracker, but I just put a wolff variable in mine with a Dawson tooless and I love how it tracks now. Noticeably different then what came from the factory. My slide is tri topped, so not as fat as others, but probably still not as light as a DVC limited. Yours probably just needs to be broken in some more. Another 500rds or so and hopefully all will be good. I really like the look of the DVC, and I love the sight tracker concept, even though I’ve never shot one. My next gun will definitely be a sight tracker.

    G43X

I’m hoping it’s a bit bigger then my 365. I remember when I first got it, I carried a shield before and I though man I wish this thing wasn’t so small. I think the sheild is the perfect size carry gun. So if the 43x is a bit bigger then my 365 I’d be happy. Already told the wife she could have my 365 if I can get the Glock.
  8. Nice! I’ve been meaning to pick up a boss hanger myself for my limited rig.
  9. That’s a good question. I always wondered that myself.
  10. And he’s some pics of it with a round in the mag. Again it doesn’t come close to touching. Definitely looks a bit different then yours. I’d pick up a Dawson catch.
  11. Heres some pics of mine with 3 different mags, first pic Is gen 2 Sti, second pic mbx ans the last is the Sps mags. All pushing up like you. Mine sit quite a bit lower then yours. I have a Dawson mag release in mine, so idk if that prevents it from touching. I can’t remember how it was with the stock one.
  12. I run a powder Check die. It’s caught 1 double charge, and some squibs. It’s worth it’s weight in gold.
  13. I had a kaboom with a Glock and uncloated cast lead. Blew the mag and mag release right out of the gun. Back then I used unique, so no chance of a double charge as 4.5g almost fills the whole case. Someone on here said I probably got bullet setback, not a true kaboom from leading in the barrel. Idk if that’s true or not. But I run plated only now through stock Glock barrels. As for coated lead, I think that should be fine. I ran lots of coated lead though mine prior to the kaboom. That day It blew up o was shooting some uncoated cast. I won’t do that again. But like polymer coated like the blues ran fine. Idk about hitek, but it should probably be fine. I don’t shoot stock Glock barrels to often, so buying plated isn’t that costly.
  14. I’ve been thinking about putting my FF3 on my trubor. I had it mounted on the of slide my Glock open gun, and I never had any problems though probably 6k. Dots mounted on slides get way more abuse then frame mounted dots, and it still held up. The only problem is the dot is not very bright. I could barely see it on a bright day. My Cmore is super bright and I can see it in any weather. My FF3 is the 3 moa, maybe the bigger ones are brighter.
  15. The carver 4 port comp is great, super effective. hs6 was what I ran in my open Glock. It shot pretty damn flat. I would add a frame weight though. It’ll help a lot. Glocks ars just so light, even with comps and mounts, dots and magwells.
  16. Atlanta arms is a 147, and its 30 bucks a box. Everglades is a 124, so more gas, and it’s half the price, 15 bucks a box. It’s a no brainer.
  17. I run titegroup too. It just leaves a layer of gunk everywhere, but it’s super easy to wipe off.
  18. To keep it running smooth all you really need to do is take the slide off, wipe down the rails and inside of the slide, then I clean the outside of the barrel, lugs hood etc again just a quick wipe, relube the rails and upper and lower lugs and hood. I put a thin layer around the barrel itself too. I basically clean it exactly like I did my Glock, and lube all the same places. But I put a decent amount more lube on the 2011 then I did my glocks. Clean the chamber and ramp too. But I don’t clean the bore every time I clean the rest. Since I field strip and clean and relube basically after every time I shoot, which usually means about 300-400rds. This often isn’t necessary. I did a little torture test few weeks ago, 3 days 1200rds total no cleaning or lubing and it ran perfectly. But I like to keep my guns clean, and I only get to shoot once or twice a week so I have plenty of time to clean them. When I move to my new 15 acre property and get to shoot everyday I probably won’t be cleaning them more then once a week. I think detail stripping every 2500-5000rds is a good interval. Check for wear and stuff too.
  19. Ya, I would bet it’s the mags. Before I bought this I read all the horror stories about mags, and then I read about the new gen 2 mags that run out of the box with no tuning needed, and MBX and i skipped right over the original sti mags. Getting the mags in spec is actually pretty easy though, so wouldn’t be to worried about the original ones anymore. But I have no need for then now. Idk what to say about the the ejector thing though. I’d try buying just one new gen 2 mag and see if you have the same problem or not, if you don’t you know it’s the mag.
  20. I have both the DAA and shooters connection belt, the daa belt has race master pouches, and the shooters connection has racers. Both fine belts. Get what’s cheaper.
  21. I use one for my ARs. But not for pistols. I’m that guy walking around bent over picking up all my brass after. But usually I set up a COF with 4-5 spots to shoot from and it all piles around there. If I get pre approved on this mortgage will be moving into 15 acres and I’ve already scoped out the range(s). A batting net sounds like a pretty good idea. Might try that.
  22. Naa, I didn’t have that problem. Loaded round sits right below it, as do the feed lips, but don’t touch. I read about someone breaking their ejector because of overinsertion in an sps Pantera. So I recently put in a Dawson mag release to avoid that. They specially say in the description it prevents this. But I used the factory one for about 3000rds without issue. It probably wasn’t necessary, but for 40 bucks it’s worth the extra precaution. Sti gen 1 mags may be slightly different? I only have gen 2 mags, mbx and then the sps that came with it. No problems with any of them.
  23. Ya, I can’t imagine it gets much better then 24-25 rounds in a 140.
  24. Oh no they warned me. I’m regulating the clays major loads strictly for matches, with titegroup for practice. My major load is 4.3g, which is around 950fps, so sometimes I’ll practice with clays minor, With the load making about 155pf. Recoil impulse is similar. And it’s safe, it’s actially a published book load. I still keep the oal the same 1.205, and load with the same caution as when I’m loading major. Clays is definitely the softest stuff you can find. Althoigh after changing to the 12lb Wolff variable recoil spring, I kinda like the way titegroup tracks. I only have a tiny bit of clays left, will see if I buy more. It’s good stuff though. Pretty soon my wife and I are moving into a new house on 15 acres, with perfect land for a gun range. So I’ll be shooting almost everyday. I’ll put it though a indefinite torture test then, or atleast until a match comes up and I have to clean it. I’d love to see how long it goes. I couldn’t do it now since I only get out 1-2 times a week and one is usually a match.
  25. If I didn’t buy my trubor, I probably would have got the solution as my first open gun. It’s cool because you can pic the upgrades you want, or just buy the base model as is. I’d probably opt for the egw fire control group, aftec extractor and other high quality internals with the original build, Then latter on you could do cosmetic stuff like slide cuts and a high quality DLC or PvD etc type finish and a metal grip. I think it’s a good value, and great concept.
