  1. I bought an LED clamp on lamp that has a flex neck on it for 17 bucks. Will try to upload a picture.
  2. I started out by just simply wanting to feel like I deserved to have a carry permit. It then morphed into wanting to climb the match results lists. Then my 11 year old wanted to start shooting. I have so much fun watching him progress that we started traveling to level 2 matches. He got high junior production at the first one, high junior single stack at his 2nd one. Along the journey I have came to the realization that we just love being in the company of shooters. It is like stepping into a different world, we call it : the world, as it should be. People who are always eager to help advance their fellow competitor despite their desire to win. They share their ideas about equipment, stage breakdown, reloading, techniques, and etc. There is no other way to perfectly escape the real world stress!
  3. Also practice letting your hand fall from surrender position with only pivoting at elbow. Your may have to adjust the tilt of the holster just a bit to get both positions comfortable.
  4. Be sure to get the dawson base pad and spring to add 3 or 4 rounds to your mags also.
  5. It appears that your accuracy is good. It is hard to tell from numbers alone about your overall mechanics. Reloads are a big part of doing well on classifiers if you are looking to move up. That first shot from the draw will also be important. Entering and exiting shooting positions, or being able to shoot while moving are things that will improve your stage time, most important is knowing which to do and when during a stage. Take lots of mental notes from the best shooters you get to squad with. Try squadding with a gm that is willing to critique you shooting s stage and work on that advice. Read Steve Anderson. Remember that smooth is fast, not jerky speed.
  6. My wife loves fishing, I just love my wife and if it involves fishing then I am there. Oddly enough she taught me to hunt and from there I got into shooting. God blessed me way beyond what I deserve with her. Maybe one day we can make it to Alaska
  7. Great info rowdyb! Thanks for spending the time to share with us.
  8. RCBS lockout die. It comes with 2 plungers and will lock the press up. You can adjust sensitivity. It's fast and easy and very consistent.
  9. Howdy, always hoping I get a chance to visit Alaska.
  10. Howdy! Wish y'all the best! It's a great world to shoot in.
  11. What holster are you using? Trying to set my son up a rig. Thanks
  12. About to place an order for some. Will let you know in a couple of weeks what my 2 cents is.
  13. I doubt it is a problem with the press. Are you using CCI primers? Are you getting light strikes? Are your barrel checking your rounds? I would start with these. I have loaded well over 100,000 rounds on my hornady lnl and have not experienced that issue.
  14. If and that is only in a fantasy, I had that kind of money, I would go Atlas and use my Sig max for a backup. Then spend the rest of the cash on lots of boolits and top notch holster
  15. I would agree with rowdyb. You could also go to SS. Both will make you focus on being more accurate and faster on the reloads. To get to master in any division you will need accuracy to match your speed. I can out run a couple of masters I know, but they are far better at shooting alphas. Hence why I am stuck in b class. I am working hard on the accuracy and shot calling, which I hope will get me to A class. That's my 2 cents worth. I wish you the best.
  16. That's a few more ounces than my edge. I imagine it helps in felt recoil. Would the dawson tooless guide rod make a weight difference or make it easier to take down? I have thought about buying one for my son. He will surpass me in a couple of years and therefore I feel he will deserve a nicer firearm. Thank you for all the information you are sharing. A discount well earned!
  17. Yes. How is it performing so far? What does it weigh? And what type of guide rod is in it?
  18. I agree Sarge. Not many have the ambition to become national level competitors. Local and level 2 matches should not be based solely on the higher level competitions. They should have a balance of technical difficulties and skill sets. This sport is supported largely by hobbyist and balanced matches will ensure that those hobbyist keep coming. Throw in a difficult stage or 2 but don't ruin the FUN by making the entire match a physics project.
  19. Now that sounds like a full service tune job! Never thought about tumbling them
  20. Amen to that! That is exactly why we have a rule book. Without it how could we compete or determine the winner? A good example of why to have a rule book in your cart or gun bag . I have used it to get a reshoot for range equipment failure. I hate that the shooter just let it go. He should as any competitor make if a priority to follow the rules by knowing what they are.
