  5. Moto is dead on. Focusing on calling the shots is the only mental work that should happen during the run. Everything else should be subconsciously active. Shooting targets in the order they appear is usually the most efficient, but not always. That's why you should always be aware to practice right to left and left to right, near to far and far to near in order to be equally effective no matter the target appearance. Just always try to avoid getting trapped unnecessarily in a port or tight in on a wall or barricade.
  6. Dry firing any striker fire gun is not recommended unless you are using spring loaded dummy rounds. I have heard of people using fired brass, but once the primer is hit by the striker the first time, there is no cushion the 2nd time around.
  7. Precisely why I will never be caught in California! Too many crazy rules!
  8. Read Eqipment Safet Checks! Just wrote that on the forum 2 days ago. We had one of those fail miserably. I recommend the RHT double kydex. Still everyone should keep check on their holsters.
  9. Thanks for the clarification wheels!
  10. so ve.ry true! Exactly why I still use a dumb flip phone. That $480 buys s lot of powder! ?
  11. But, if it is clearly not seen outside the guard it is better to error on the side of caution. Again, the shooter could and should prevent this before the make ready. The shooters have to take some simple responsibility.
  12. I agree, the shooter knows his situation and should make it clear before the make ready if the shooter wishes to avoid the call. The RO is responsible for making the call initially, the awarding the reshoot as well. Shooters have to take some initiatives to address things that are outside the norms, not just sit back and lash out when something they could have avoided gets the appropriate but undesired result.
  13. Great information fellas! What about the positioning of the optic. He will be shooting steel and uspsa with it. For now it will be an occasional shot gun as he has got a slot for SS nationals and will need to maintain focus on that, but I figure for an award for earning the slot the pcc would be a fun change.
  14. Good to know. I am in the process of setting my son up with a pcc and am seeking the go to parts so I can avoid the tinkering. Are you using the one that has the battery door and turn off switch?
  15. Well put! The grip is explained by many pros in many ways. Kinda got to put your time in, apply a few different techniques and only time will tell you what works best for you. Lots of dry fire, mixing in dummy rounds in random order in live fire practice, etc. Are good ways to keep you honest. Good sight focus also helps, I even see Olympic air gun shooters use plugs and muffs to keep sound out of the equation. Lots of areas to work on in getting to where you properly manipulate the trigger. Trial & error is the basic approach to this game. Rob Vogel uses an entirely different method than Rob Leatham, but both are excellent shooters.
  16. Most of these post are well over a year old. Is everyone still leaning cmore or have opinions changed now that the division is has been around and is still exploding?
  17. People need to read this. It can be prevented, but so often is over looked.
  18. Okay. Thanks. My junior shooter has final exams that following Monday & Tuesday in school and if we shot Friday he could study more is all. Thanks Archie
