  1. Absolutely shocked to hear this about volquartsen. Everything on youtube seems to indicate they are simply the best option for customizing your 22. Thanks for the honest feedback about their products.

    Farts

Farting at a match is a great way to get the overly aggressive RO to give you a few feet of space.
  3. Built an ambidextrous AR and dropped it off to have a new muzzle break installed (lost my wrench). When I got it back it was timed to the 2 O'clock position. Upon informing the "gunsmith" he said "no man, that's what you want for a right handed shooter". Didn't take into account that the rifle could possibly be for a lefty.

What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back...a stick

  6. Thankfully, I didn't make this move. Purchased my G34 through Blue Label at a steal, then shot it for nearly 2 years in comp. Began considering mods to squeeze every bit of performance I could out of the firearm (after seeing other competitors to the same). Totaled up the cost of making a hi-speed G34 and couldn't justify it based on what else was available for the same price. Long story short, stock G34 is now the wife's gun and I spent the money on a Shadow.
  7. CZ Shadow 2 with SAO conversion. Best option IMO, whichever range gun you prefer and a striker fired pistol in the caliber of your choice for the nightstand. Something to be said for keeping a quality combat style pistol as the home defense firearm. Less to think about operationally when the adrenaline begins to pump during a home invasion.
  8. You can definitely win a race with the STI, but get ready to tinker. There is something inherently appealing about the simplicity of the Glock and its operation. That being said, I would never pass up a good deal on an STI!
  9. +1 on which fits the hand better, that being said, it's hard to argue with the support and parts quality from CZ USA/CGW/CZ community!
  10. Have run Glocks exclusively for years in competition, then tried a friend's CZ CTS 9mm. Until that point I never considered switching to SA/DA...6 months latter I am the proud owner of a CZ Shadow and don't see myself ever going back. Heavy/accurate/customizable...just fantastic.
  11. Colt is bringing both series 80 & series 70 style pistols to the market now. No firing pin block sounds pretty good.
  12. Love the channel! Just can't justify buying a firearm from the company. Thanks for all that you provide with your to the match gun reviews.
  13. After finding several pairs of North Face's version of waterproof, easy clean, trail running shoes for under $100, I can't justify spending money on the Solomons anymore. The cheap Solomons feel cheap and there are plenty of other options.
  14. Copy, thanks Focker! I'll try and get my smarts up.
  15. In need of a qualified CZ gunsmith in GA or north FL to complete polishing/action work on my SP-01 Shadow. I know CGW and Automatic Accuracy are great (new springs installed, plan to finish with CGW parts) but would very much like to avoid sending it off. There are plenty of tabletop amateur gunsmiths in the local area, but I'd rather go with a qualified professional for this one. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Backup gun, backup parts for both guns, extra eye/ear, rain gear, ammo that works in both guns, snacks, water, small notepad and pen, small first aid kit/tourniquet. I haven't needed half of this stuff in a match, but you know what they say...better to have it an not need it.
  17. +1. There are cheaper options that work just as well regarding mag pouches, but it's hard to beat the quality and customer service of Red Hill. Even my wife (new to competition shooting) liked my holster so much she had me order her one as well.
  18. I tried for years to encourage my wife to shoot with me. This encouragement consisted mainly of static target shooting to which she was indifferent. Prior to a deployment she expressed interest in gaining more experience through trigger time since she would be the sole protector of our household/children while I was away. Took her to the action pistol range at our club and began working on loading from a drawer, shooting multiple targets, and shooting on the move. By the end of our first range session she was astounded at how much different action shooting is to target shooting. Long story short, she is now the owner of my Glock 34, has ordered a Red Hill tiffany blue holster, and is beginning her foray into competitive shooting. Prior to this change I would take our children shooting and she would stand on the sidelines, now she monitors them for safety and provides feedback when they have missteps...I love it when a plan comes together!
  19. Have to wonder if this will be a new trend for all of the powder manufacturers with the rise of polymer coated bullets. Greatly looking forward to anyone with real world test data...especially out of a CZ shadow variant!
  20. In an effort to speed reloading/save money, I'm considering the Mini XL 650 Case Feeder over the Dillon case feeder system. Reviews online are spotty at best. Has anyone had any real experience with this system? Can you provide pros/cons vs the hi-dollar Dillon system? Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been covered before.
  21. Thanks Hi-Power Jack! Been reloading for several years...wouldn't be able to keep my three ladies in bullets if I didn't. Now that my wife is venturing into the competitive pistol world, I'll be doubling my current 9mm output each month. First world problems.
  22. Hate buying boxes of primer on sale at national chain store that is going out of business...only to find that whomever stocked the shelves was not careful with the primer boxes and half of them are missing primers!
  23. Haven't installed yet, but have had problems with some other tightly fit firearms over the years. Glad to hear that it shouldn't be an issue. Looking forward to even greater accuracy...or at least placebo effect of having the bushing. Thanks!
