    spare parts question

I keep a litany of parts on hand for all my competition pistols. I always have an extra firing pin, recoil springs, and pins just to name a few.

    Hammers - Production

Can you expand on this please? What characteristics of the CZC hammer to you find surpass the CGW hammer? Thanks in advance.
  3. +1 on Lok Bogies with palm swells.
  4. Absolutely legal in SSP. It would even seem that switching to a comp hammer on an SP-01/Shadow is now legal as well as it is used on several production guns in the CZ line. After 2 years of review/rewrites, one would think that IDPA would provide a set of equipment rules that is easy to understand...guess not. Maybe it's time they take a page from USPSA's playbook and just publish a list of approved firearms. Just a thought.
  5. Any problems with the returning to battery? It appears that this is a common problem for the new plastic fantastic CZ glock-killer.
  6. Anybody experience problems with their Shadow/SP-01 retiring to full battery with the 10x bushing? I always worry things will fit a bit too tightly and negatively impact lockup. Thanks in advance.
  7. So it seems like the conventional wisdom for a jumping off point with a Shadow is to start with 13# hammer/main spring & 11# recoil (judging on what comes from CZC), but it seems that his is truly just a starting point. Every tabletop smith seems to be going lighter when pros like Matt Hopkins are using 14# springs...there really doesn't seem to be any one size fits all even though most of us Shadow users are using similar loads/springs/parts.
  8. What is the benefit to switching to the floating trigger pin? I'm planning on buying the tuner's pack from CGW along with the extended firing pin/spring and just wondering if I should consider adding this to my cart.
  9. Been an RO for a few years and have had to DQ strangers, friends, and family alike. I say don't go with your gut, but go with the rule book. Safety violations, failure to do right, attempt to cheat...it doesn't matter, the end result has to be the same for everyone. I've seen a few other RO's let things go for new shooters while I was directing a match at my local club, I had to explain that failing to call them out not only does them no good since they don't understand the severity of their mistake, but also puts all other shooters in jeopardy. I'd rather DQ somebody and than allow a dangerous environment.
  10. Just made the leap from Glock 34 to CZ Shadow as my primary competition pistol. I had the money available, a wife who wanted to begin using my Glock in competition (an actual need for a new weapon), and the desire to try something news. This was the perfect combination for when to upgrade to a new gun...though many will likely suggest that I did not upgrade.
  11. Bought 12 &13 yr old daughters a 22 pistol and rifle thinking it was the obvious way to go (how my father introduced me to firearms), that lasted 6 months. They ever so quickly graduated from M&P 15-22 to my AR & from a Walter P-22 to my Glock 34. Now I have a Walther/M&P nobody really uses. If you buy them a 22 to start, make sure it's something you don't mind adding to your own collection when your son makes the inevitable jump to centerfire! Best of luck.
  12. Hello Brian Enos Forum. Long time (25 year) recreational shooter, relatively new to competitive pistol shooting (5 years). Father of two young ladies who have already begun to demonstrate interest & proficiency with se several firearm platforms. I spend available weekends training for IDPA/USPSA with my wife and helping my kids become evermore comfortable with a litany of weapons. Just making the switch from Glock to CZ for competition and I'm certain that the opinions/expertise found in this forum will be invaluable over the coming months. Looking forward to contributing!
