    9mm Minor

Titegroup is what I use. It is a little faster than Solo 1000. Or, if you prefer to continue using Solo 1000: https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/193 Whoops, it seems Grafs is out of stock too...
  2. Welcome to the forums! There are IDPA matches at Hammer Down on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings of the month, and at Target World on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays . Should be very doable for you, as travel time shouldn't be too bad. 3. Make sure that the screws match the threads in the SLIDE, NOT the RD! Screws provided by Vortex may not be the right threads for your milled slide... If you encounter any resistance when starting the screw into the threaded holes, STOP! It is very important to get the RD tight, because if loose screws flop around under recoil very long, the internal threads may be damaged to where you will always have problems keeping them tight! Also check to ensure the screws you use aren't bottoming out before they tighten well. I had to shorten the screws that I used on mine a little, because snugging them down against the bottom of the threaded hole wasn't holding the RD securely enough. They were bottoming out just half a mm or so too soon. I just ground them to fit. Naturally, you also have to deburr the screws after shortening, or a burr could strip the threads. If you aren't confident about how to do that properly, get the correct screws from CZC. The good news is, once you have it mounted well, you probably won't have to worry about it for a long time (if you clean the threads and use Loctite).
  4. What did you put Loctite on? JUST the set screw, right?
  5. Even at the sale price of $20/k, by the time I pay for Haz Mat shipping and sales tax, those S&B primers cost more than I can buy CCI's for at the local gun show, tax included. If I could just pick some up, I'd buy them, but they NEVER have SPP in stock at the local store. I have used S&B LPP, and they worked fine for me. Just not shooting much LPP these days...
  6. I have been wanting to try some of Precision's 147 grain 9mm 0.356". Does anyone have a discount code for Precision? Also, Precision says they don't recommend using Titegroup or N-310 with their bullets. What powder(s) have you used in 9x19?
  7. Wouldn't a spring change be more likely to reduce the trigger pull? Does it have the JP yellow springs in it now? If not, you may want to try changing to them first. If it already "Breaks like glass", I would think further polishing would be more likely to do harm than good.
  8. Reading this made me check mine... Yep! Still tight! When I first mounted my RTS2, I cleaned both the inside and outside threads with alcohol, dried them thoroughly, used blue Locktite, and tightened the scews well. I have had NO issues whatsoever since originally mounting the optic!
  9. Do not seat and crimp in the same die...
  10. +1 for Blue 147's in my Accu Shadow...
  11. Does anyone besides my OCD self get concerned about flash holes like these in the picture? I KNOW I wouldn't want to use cases with flash holes that far off for precision rifles, but for short range pistol, does it matter? I mean, they fired before I resized them, and I don't know of them causing problems. (Of course, I COULD claim they caused my misses....) If I was loading on a progressive (using a T-7), I probably wouldn't have even found them. I noticed a slight hesitation when the decapping pin hit the side of the flash hole, and looked at them. Anyway, are these problems to be culled out, or "fuhgeddaboudit"?
  12. Yep! I think most reloaders would consider those bullets scrap. OTOH, perhaps they will shoot just fine. One really cannot tell without shooting them. Buy some and let us know how they shoot for you...
  13. I can buy 147 gr Blue Bullets for less than 7.5 cents each, and coated bullets shoot better for me than new plated bullets. If the accuracy potential of these pulled plated bullets has been degraded, they might not shoot well at ALL! Also, you can bet the picture would show some of the best they have available, and worse ones will be in the lot. A "bargain" can be turn out to not be a bargain at all, if the product performs poorly... If you are shooting these and you miss your target, was it the bullet, or you? I won't be buying any.

I have been reloading since 1977, and I am retired, so I DO have equipment and time! LOL! I KNOW I have loaded 20K many times over! Heck, I have more than 20K primers on hand right now, but I am only shooting about 1K 9mm per month. If I shot ONLY 9mm, and didn't already have equipment, I'm not sure I would want to put $1000 into loading equipment. That number is high for all but the best reloading equipment though. One can get started for a lot less, but will probably require more time... Of course, ammo shortages do have a bad habit of repeating themselves from time to time, and it is nice to have components on hand to "weather the storm". Plus, my "baby" is 42 yr. old, and my wife is still working. Gotta do SOMETHING other than getting hooked on "daytime soaps"! (j/k) Anyway, as sfinney said, everyone's situation is different, and that's OK... Edited: I just realized that I am WAY off topic here, and I apologize. I'm out!

Yeah, shooting 9mm is the hardest round to justify getting a reloading setup for... Still, I load 9mm ammo (which I believe is better than what I can buy) for 11 cents per round.

    Really?? Shoot much?
  17. I use Blue Bullets 147 grain, seated to 1.120" in my Shadow.
  18. I like Magpul's MOE+. The wrap-around rubber helps. From Magpul's website: "The MOE+ Grip combines reinforced polymer body construction with comfortable, wrap-around rubber overmolding for maximum weapon control in adverse environments. With a similar shape to a 'medium' sized MIAD, this AR15/M4 drop-in design features a hard-polymer bottom edge to reduce the possibility of equipment snags or grip damage. The MOE+ Grip accepts optional Storage Cores for gear stowage and includes a basic grip cap. All mounting hardware included."
  19. Oh, well everything is PERFECTLY clear now....
  20. I ran 4.5 grains of BE with a 230 grain XTreme plated RN over my Oehler 35P. (1.250" OAL, 5" barrel) I got 744 fps average for a RF of 171.
  21. Very nice! Wish she was mine....!!
  22. If the slide is cut specifically for your optic, the base will sit against the cut in the slide. Won't move, because it CAN'T move...
  23. It needs the RIGHT amount of tension. Take your slide off, and insert a fired case underneath the extractor. Shake lightly. If it falls out, you need more tension, if it won't come out at all, you need less. It should also look like this (with kudos to Jerry Keefer):
