  1. This may be a little basic, but I have to ask... Are your primers seated below flush? If primers aren't seated to the bottom of the primer pocket, they can "soak up" some of the energy from the firing pin, and prevent firing. I realize you probably already know this, so don't be insulted! Just trying to help!
  2. Before the Shadow, I have primarily shot 1911's and Glocks, and they NEVER auto-forwarded in my experience. Perhaps others have different experiences with those pistols? Anyway, since I didn't have experience with auto-forwarding, you can imagine my surprise when my Shadow started doing this in the middle of a match... I really don't know for certain if auto-forwarding is faster or not, but it seems intuitive that it would be if I can do it reliably. I still think the main thing, for ME, is to not lose concentration if it happens, and be ready to release the slide stop if it doesn't. Having all this input makes me a lot more comfortable to not think something has gone wrong when it does auto-forward, and I thank you all for that!
  3. JGus, I copied the link from Photobucket called "Direct", and then clicked on "Insert other media" in the reply box on this forum. I pasted the direct address from Photobucket into "Insert image from URL", and it worked!
  4. Perhaps.... I"ll time it both ways to see. If nothing else, I'm not going to freak out when it closes automatically, and lose concentration. I KNOW that cost me some time!
  5. OK, I am starting to understand how to do this reliably. Up and forward is working pretty well! So, now I agree.... this IS a feature! It sure is fast!
  6. Let me see if I can insert these photos for you.... Wow! It worked!
  7. I was shooting a 1911 in ESP, and I put a Ed Brown magwell on it. Helped reloading that pistol a lot! I am now shooting an Accu Shadow in ESP, and I find that the combination of internal beveling of the frame and the tapered mags works pretty well, and I don't really need a magwell. At least, I am happy without one, and I have no plans to add one to my Shadow.
  8. So, if I wanted to modify my slide release to make the slide close 100% of the time, would I remove metal from the flat part showing inside the red square in the above picture? Perhaps I should get a spare slide stop to experiment with first? https://czcustom.com/cz-75-shadow-sp01-slide-stop.html This info really helps me a lot. If nothing else, it will help me accept the automatic closing when it happens, and not sweat it!
  9. Yes, as I stated in the original post, I had rather have this happen either NEVER, or ALWAYS. If it isn't anything to worry about (and sounds like it isn't), then I would like to have it happen all the time, so I can expect it, and not lose concentration.
  10. Guys, I am having an issue with my (new to me) Accu Shadow SP-01. During Emergency Reloads (have to - IDPA), the slide automatically closes upon mag insertion - sometimes. I have not experienced the slide closing without picking up a round, so perhaps I should just not worry about it. But, since I know it shouldn't be doing that, it bothers me. It does seem to happen more often when I slam the mag home hard. (I don't think just trying to not slam it in hard will work... I get a little excited and heavy-handed during the match.) Slide lock on an empty mag has always been 100% for me. I had also much rather this either NEVER happen, or ALWAYS happen, instead of "sometimes". It causes me to pause when it happens, and breaks my concentration. One more thing - this is happening with all six different stock CZ mags I have. What is causing this, and how would I fix it? Thanks in advance!
  11. If you are shooting in IDPA, the Shadow 2 is too heavy. It is 46.5 oz, and 43 oz. is the maximum allowed. The original Shadow is legal for IDPA ESP, and I believe the Shadow Target II is as well. I am not familiar enough with what the Shadow SP01 Custom is to comment on that one. There are several models with the "SP01 Custom" description.
  12. I use Howard Leight Impact Pro electronic earmuffs. They are rated for 30 db NRR, which is the highest rated electronic muffs I could find. I am happy with the way they suppress noise levels, but they are a little hot for summer use. I plan to investigate electronic plugs for use in summer.
  13. I have lost one rod from my Springfield Range Officer, after firing ~ 3000 rounds of TG. It was there one shot, and gone the next...
  14. That is just incredible that they were able to find the guy and show him that film. I know my dad would be moved to tears if he could find film showing him in the Army 8th Air Corp while stationed in England. He wasn't a pilot, but he is very proud of the time he spent in service during WWII.

    CZ SP01 recoil spring

    DOH.... [Face Palm]

    CZ SP01 recoil spring

Bend the recoil spring? Huh? Please explain...
  17. Regarding the bolded sentence... I don't believe there is any additional inertia when the hammer moves from off the FPS versus moving off half cock. I mean, doesn't the hammer have to STOP and reverse direction to fire?
  18. I don't know, but that bull barrel inclusion for lengths "4.25" and less" is definitely in the rule book... Seems it is writeen to EXCLUDE bull barrels over 4.25" to me...
  19. I think the bull barrel would exclude this pistol from ESP in IDPA. (ref. 8.2.2.2 T) https://grandpower.eagleimportsinc.com/grandpower/firearms/x-calibur Not sure but I also don't think the slide cuts are legal either... (ref. 8.2.2.3 A) Sometimes, I think some slide cutting is allowed if done by the factory, which is the case here... But, with the polymer grip, the slide cuts and barrel flutes combine to make it really light! (28.1 oz?) Perhaps TOO light for best shooting? (IMHO, for ME...) But the guy in the video shoots it well!
  20. The CZC +2 extensions make the standard CA mags too long to fit in the IDPA box. (8-3/4" x 6" x 1-5/8") I get 6-5/8" inches from top of slide to bottom of a mag with +2 extension, and right at 6" for the mags as included with the pistol from the factory. Note: I can get 19 rounds in my CZ factory mags, but I can't get it to lock in place loaded with a closed slide. With the +2 extension, I can load 21 in the mag, and still lock it in place with a closed slide.
  21. I've got the answer to this question! The regular SP-01 has a firing pin block (Ref. #1 - scroll down to bottom in specifications), and the Shadow upper does not have a firing pin block (Ref. #2). According to CZ Customs, you MUST remove the firing pin block actuating mechanism in order to use a Shadow upper ( listed in description in Ref. #2). According to IDPA rule # 8.1.8 E, "Disconnecting or disabling of any safety device including (but not limited to): manual safeties, grip safeties, firing pin, striker, and hammer blocking safeties, 1911 series 80 firing pin safeties, 1911 Swartz safeties....." and so on. Therefore, it would NOT be legal to use a regular SP-01 frame with a Shadow upper, because you would have to remove the firing pin block in order to do so. Sorry, OP! Ref. #1 Ref. #2
  22. I have a couple Hipertouch triggers, and I couldn't be more impressed. Hiperfire designed a trigger that actually hits HARDER when you install the HEAVIER springs to lighten the pull! Sounds illogical, but it does work that way... I got my first one in a package deal from PSA. The Hipertouch 24 trigger had just been introduced, and it was included with a lower parts package for a small upcharge. I suppose it was part of Hiperfire's new product roll-out. Anyway, I had plenty of mil-spec triggers from other builds, so didn't need another mil-spec! So, I thought I might as well give Hiperfire a shot. (Yuk, yuk....) I thought the design seemed a little odd at first, but I was astonished at how good that trigger was! I used the lighter springs at first, but using the heaviest springs is what made that trigger really shine! It was the basic model, and it still has a little creep, similar to a good mil-spec trigger. However, the break was much lighter and crisper. Plus, the FP strike was heavier than mil-spec. I figured it may be fragile, and not hold up over the long haul. Well, I was wrong. It is still going strong after several years, and heavy use. When I needed another trigger for a new build, I didn't hesitate to try Hiperfire's newer three gun version - Hipertouch 24 3G. With the three gun version, creep is almost completely gone, and the light clean break is even better than the original version! (I prefer a traditional curved trigger, so I haven't tried one of their flat-trigger versions.) I have experienced NO misfires with my Hiperfire triggers - EVER! They are my first choice for new builds. https://www.hiperfire.com/product/hipertouch24/ https://www.hiperfire.com/product/hipertouch243g/
  23. I look at spent brass much as if each case was a nickel. I know 9mm is worth less than that, but on average, 5 cents each isn't a bad estimate. Some calibers are worth much more than that. When you have a large ziplock baggie full of spent cases, and imagine each one is a nickel, collecting your brass definitely seems worthwhile! A bucket full of nickels would certainly be worthwhile! OTOH, if you shoot at any ranges that I shoot at, don't worry about it. Just leave it on the floor... I'll take care of it for you! LOL!
  24. Luckily, I caught that mismatch before I ever tried those Aguila cases in the RO. I always separate my cases by brand anyway, so I just use any Aguila cases in other pistols. I have never had a single malfunction in my RO, so I will just continue to use those cases elsewhere. Before anyone asks, no I have to admit that I really can't prove separating cases by headstamp improves my shooting, but old habits die hard! I have a tough time not doing all the case prep work I did to BR rifle cases... Oh yeah... Yes I AM retired, so I have the time! LOL!
