  1. Hmm...I've been loading 1.167 for my CK open gun from day 1. Must have gotten lucky? I am using PD 124 JHP.
  2. My girlfriend had never shot a gun before. I got her to shoot by stopping at a range on vacation after I had to endure a few hours of shopping. I walked up to the counter and bought her an hour lesson lol (I've always heard first introduction to firearms should never include a significant other). Apparently she cried a little bit after the first 3 rounds then refused to quit and put up the best qual target the instructors there had ever seen out of a first time shooter. About 1 inch 5 shot group with a glock 19 lol (4 clover-leafed and 1 flier). She wasn't sure she wanted to shoot again. About a week later my 22 suppressor finally got out of jail and I took her to the range to shoot. She was shooting dime sized targets at %100 at 10 yds with my cz455 and hitting them 80% of the time at 25 yds. She was getting frustrated she was missing them lol. Not sure I should let her shoot my open gun at this point. . .
  3. Good luck. Plate I hit was between 2 and 3 o'clock (rotating counter clockwise). Fell and clipped the plate below it on the star then tumbled into the popper next to it. I was the only person out of 50 some shooters who had a reshoot on that stage.
  4. If you have a good comp I wouldn't be searching for "light" ammo. That blast is what keeps your muzzle flat.
  5. I forgot to turn my dot on for the 4th stage of a match last weekend (first time I'd shot my open gun in months). Funny thing is at the end of the stage there was a texas star and I somehow managed to shoot 1 plate with two left plates left on the texas star which took out the final texas star plate and then the adjacent popper. So I got a reshoot haha.
  6. Put 100 rounds down the tube of my new GMR-15 today with 0 malfunctions. Does that count? Set up identically to my SCR-11 (minus shorter barrel and the fact that its 9mm)
  7. Any idea what powder/load/OAL he is using with the 165s? I got some 165s to play with a little while ago, but my PCC just showed up yesterday so I haven't had time to tinker. I wonder how accurate the 165s are at 100 yds at 130pf. If accuracy at range is acceptable, would be a win-win for me. Looking to use one load for PCC and 3-gun (on matches I decide to use the PCC).
  8. I think I'm going with an aluminum c-more for now. Had one lying around that I threw on my m&P 15-22 to mess with when I ordered my PCC. Seems to do the job.
  9. Decent for a factory offering, but for the same money you could have a tikka in an XLR chassis *shrug* The only real advantage of something like this would be trying to compete in the PRS production division which only leaves you ~$1000 MSRP for an optic.
  10. The OP is making a purchase now. It isn't a "using parts I already have" issue for him.
  11. Why are you trying to put TTI +5/6s on 33 round? Why not just get the taylor freelance for the 33 rd making them 41 round and use the TTI for the glock 17 mags? The TF comes with a tuned spring for the 33rd mags. No point in getting anything else right now.
  12. I picked up a VX6 over thanksgiving. Haven't had a chance to mount/shoot it yet. I can say that with the current price point it seems to me to be the best deal as far as what you get for your money. I haven't personally shot a razor so most of the razor comparisons are from others reviews. It seems to have the same FOV, very big eyebox (not quite as big as the razor), great eye relief (.2 inch less than the razor), and is almost 12 oz lighter than the razor. Some people find the illumination control frustrating, but I'll put up with it. The illumination is not as good as the razor although I called leupold and they said they could swap to the red illum for fairly cheap, it was $60-90 I have it written down somewhere. It is important to note that some of the earlier ones sent out for reviews appear to have had illumination problems. Jesse T. got a replacement from Leupold after posting his video and has said his is now daylight bright but not as bright as you can turn up the razor (some of that may be color). With the current deals out there, some of them including gift cards which can cover the cost of a switchview, the delta between a new razor ($1200) and a vx6 is $500. Is the razor technically a better scope? Yes, if the weight doesn't matter to you. Is it $500 more scope? That's for you to decide. If weight is in any way a concern the vx6 is the clear winner until you get into Swarovski-land. ***Actually just looked deal I got is gone now >.< So figure $800 for the scope with no additional gift card. The razor is now 1260, so the delta remains pretty consistent***
  13. Its honestly safer than loading 9mm minor with something like titegroup If you randomly get a double charge with titegroup you are fkd. You literally can't double charge 9mm major. Its ez to see if powder is right because its readily apparent. As long as you are making sure your OAL is good you good to go.
  14. There are people who would rather pay a ton of $$$ to not have to load ammo (usually these are people who have large amounts of disposable income). They may buy a gun that works well with the factory load as opposed to making the load to the gun. It is also something that gets purchased by people when they first start in open to get a feel sometimes. I bought a small amount when a gun I purchased (with a 3 day inspection period) was going to arrive before my reloading gear. I doubt they sell massive quantities of factory major ammo, but they wouldn't bother making it if there weren't buyers. ***and as for why its 147 grain, its to cover themselves legally. Lower pressures in 147 major then a typical major load. Less chance of something going boom (the wrong way), and less chance of being hit with a lawsuit. They actually used to make 124 major quite a while back.
  15. It takes a lot more force than you would think. I actually googled it when I first got mine because I thought I was going to break something when I first tried. Just push until it goes in
  16. Actually for optics planet there are several better deals depending on what you are buying bfrd13 - 13% red dots bfrs13 - 13% scopes There is one for lasers, I don't remember it.
  17. There are 3 that belong to shooting buddies of mine. One isn't on enos and I doubt the other two look in gallery ever
  18. I have a MKM on my strike eagle. Highly doubt you are going to break an MKM doing anything normal. Again, they both serve the same purpose. Different material and manufacturing cost.
  19. Much different quality. One is 3d printed plastic. One is metal. Both do the same job.
  20. Would be very interested in comparisons to the Vortex Razor HD II 1-6.
  21. There is a massive difference in cost, much bigger than the gap between limited and open in uspsa. Unless you are already set up for open division in3 gun youll need an open shot gun (plan to spend 2.5-4K for a good mag fed shotgun, mags, and optic) and add a side mounted red dot optic to your AR. If you want to be competitive anyway, if it's for fun, but some cheap optic to slap on your current shotgun. if you are already set up for tac ops, I'd stick to an iron sight 2011. If your plan is to pay to play in open with the rest of your gear, go for the open pistol.
