  1. Not that I can think of. Most places have minimum lot charges, whether it's one piece or 50. The other thing it's from an 80% lower, with no serial # on it.
  2. You can Cerakote over anodize, but, it must be blasted for adhesion, not the other way around. This is according to Cerakote's application instructions.
  3. Anodize will probably take more abuse, and to Cerracoat over it won't last. I've seen it done, and it turned me off on Cerracoat, till I've seen some done properly. Cerracoat does give a lot of options as far as colors and patterns.
  4. The blast cabinet is cheap. The compressor needed to feed it, not so much. Add in the possibility of adding a 220 outlet for it.
  5. I too have a Clark carbon fiber tube on one of my AR's. The nut portion is aluminum, with the tube joined with epoxy. The JP has an aluminum part, that is loctited to the upper receiver, with a steel retainer that threads into the aluminum part. If there is thermal drift with either, you'd probably need a scope with bench rest type magnification (36X+) to see it.
  6. Vlad, I don't fight the future when it makes sense. I can operate a CNC, am on Facebook, my truck has a twin turbo 6 cylinder, and fuel injection is good. I also can cut threads on an engine lathe, have the knowledge to swage jacketed bullets, cast bullets and size and lube them. I do prefer in real words for the most part though. Used to be all the abbreviations were limited to government agencies, and not everyday communication. I guess I'm getting to be a curmudgeon. See you at a match in the spring, I'm sure.
  7. Nope, not lazy, just don't see an advantage to some of what you do. Old farts? Well, there is that possibility. You'll get there soon enough my friend!
  8. Super Nova, with what Lead Head mentioned. Mike you have too much free time on your hands to do all that crap. I'll have stew and a beer with Kurt!
  9. No kids, no grandchildren here, don't like "urban" language nor "text" speak. I may work in an urban environment, but, I don't have to live it in gun stuff.
  10. Maize, Try the standing position you use for smallbore. Dryfire a lot with your 3 gun AR, watch the wobble of the crosshair, most important is the squeeze and follow through.
  11. Krieger is a consistent quality barrel. Their twist that works with that length bullet is a 7.7 inch twist. Satern is another excellent cut rifled barrel. Honestly, you can get Match / Varmint barrels from both of them. Neither is cheap, but, the results are worth it.
  12. Tim, Many of us geezers and those without young children, do not follow this type of lingo, nor care to.
  13. What distance are you planning on shooting it? Bullet selection? Is this going to shot primarily off a bench or sniper type matches? For this, I'd get a good quality blank and have it machined and chambered in .223, not any other variation. Probably in twist no faster than 1 in 9 inches. It won't be cheap, but it should shoot extremely well. A Geisselle High Speed Match 2 stage trigger will be the only trigger I'd put in it.
  14. Mags, definitely. If you want a handguard that does not replace the barrel nut, maybe not. The barrel nut thread is larger than an AR15, but, it doesn't use a DPMS .308 barrel wrench.
  15. Try a different brand of slug. My Super Nova does not like Rio shotshells, they act the same as your slugs. Estate or Herter's shotshells are just fine.
  16. I used to own an 870, but shoot a Super Nova. The loading port on the 870 is a lot smaller than the Super Nova. 870's are used successfully, but, if you don't have one in the safe already, take a hard look at the Super Nova.
  17. You need to stand more perpendicular to the target, not facing it like shooting pistol. Look at how highpower shooters stand at 200 yards.
  18. I think one of my squad mates was using that at the He Man Nationals this past May. Her 1911 landed on the ground while she was still shooting her .308.
  19. When Springfield Armory first started making / selling 1911's, the barrels used were two piece. The silver braze line was easily visible. It's a cost reduction technique.
  20. Ed, Those look like USPSA rules. Equiptment wise, most rule sets are pretty close, only with different names. Are the matches you plan to shoot using USPSA rules?
  21. Let them finish this years match first! Blue Ridge is a very good match, all natural terrain. Andy likes to throw in some things not usually seen in 3 gun. One thing I'd recommend is make sure you have a sling for both long guns.
  22. Last year, Rocky Mountain 3 Gun, which held the world championship 3 gun match, awarded nice medals for the top finishers in divisions and categories. Not a belt, but kinda nice. Just so it's known, there were shooters from a lot of countries at that match, besides Canada.
