  1. Howard Leight Impact Sport. $50. They have a jack for audio input if you want to listen to your iPod while cutting the grass. Very popular around here. Half my squad had them last weekend.
  2. For a similar cost, you could get a dedicated .22 upper from CMMG, & swap it on your AR lower when you want to practice.
  3. Babob & I each have one we got off the prize table at the Rockcastle Pro/ Am last year. They have Colt small pin lowers, Magpul CTR stocks w/ mil spec buffer tubes, Giesele 3 gun triggers, Wilson SS 1/8 medium weight fluted & dimpled barrels, 18", Samson Evolution 15" forearms, Surefire muzzle brakes. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Nice rifle, not sure it is worth the $1995 they are asking for it. I changed the stock to an ACE ARFX, & thinking of changing the trigger. Good to see Colt getting back into competition sponsorship.
  4. When I saw the thread title, wondered how long till strangedays posted on it. Larue, ADM, Bobro all work well for 3 gun. We have to keep the purpose in perspective. 3 gun is not Camp Perry. If you want a 1000 yd. shooter, you wouldn't want a QD mount. For our game they are great.
  5. Because everyone assumes cops know about guns when that is not always the case. They know what they were trained on thats usually it unless they like me were gun nuts prior to being a cop. With gun store owners its even worse because its luck of the draw and there is no training at all. They only know what they read in gun magazines. I also worked in a gun shop during college and there are some idiots in those places. The worst part is when they don't know something they will pretend they do and give bad advice. pat Pat, do you mean there are idiots in gun shops, colleges, or both? Haha!
  6. I have an MD, runs like a top. Avoid the Promag too.
  7. Talking dead said it is a black woman named Mersheron.
  8. Have guncat cut it to whatever you want, and thread for chokes. Quick turnaround, great work.
  9. Did Taurus drop the SAA replica called the Gaucho, & the pump action rifle, forget the name? They were just a shotgun away from having all 3 guns for CAS.
  10. Anyone remember a guy that wore a blue Colt shirt, shot an STI with a Colt slide, think his name was Barnhorst, Barnwerst, Barnhart? Something like that. Probably the same thing will happen with Jesse.
  11. Poor Linda, she has to explain this every year! We DO love you, Linda! Thanks!
  12. Just got 2 rooms at the Sleep Inn in Cave City, still have rooms available. Brand new hotel. I'm on the waiting list at the lodge too, but not holding my breath.
  13. Saw the signs for the bourbon tour last year, would like to do that.
  14. Guys, this means your info was received and confirmed. You may be on the waiting list, or in the match, you won't know until Linda emails sometime overnight or tomorrow. The number she emails you is the one you put in box on the application. Sorry for the cold water, but someone had to say it. After 4 trips to Benning, and one to Rockcastle, the waiting to see if you're in has just begun.
  15. I opened my weekly email from Graf & Sons, and at the bottom, saw an ad for a Sightron SIII 1-7x24 30mm 3 gun scope. It has an illuminated 4a reticle with red/green illum. $799, out of stock. 1-7? Can't have much of a FOV. Have we gone too far? Didn't have much on details like FFP/SFP, FOV, etc. Just thought someone would be interested. Sightron makes a decent scope.
  16. Samson Evolution. I have the 15" on my Colt CR Pro, and a shorter one on my SBR. They come with a couple pieces of rail, and are super simple to install. I had the JP VTAC, and was just a little complicated. The red loctite is a monster to get off if you need to change something.
  17. I like things just the way they are. Don't make changes just to make changes.
  18. I don't understand the hate of monopodding. Can someone say why?
  19. I got the white ones from Midway couple weeks ago for $44. Mine came with 4 sets of lens, clear, grey, green, & brown. The colored ones are all polarized. Thinking of getting another pair in black for work. Lens go in & out just like Oakley Half Jackets.
  20. Functionally, that is the only difference. Last week, Dick's had the M2 with the solid stock (the American) on sale for $799. Some would suggest getting the American & a Limbsaver recoil pad, & spending the $400 saved on your mods. I have an M1S90/HK, that is what I did. I'd suggest the M1. Send it to Guncat to cut & thread the barrel.
  21. I just buy a bag of the Dillon lock rings, which are smaller OD so you have room on top to use the bench wrench. Pull off the Lee lock rings that have the rubber o-ring, put on the Dillons, install as normal.
  22. I've found the only real value to the second red dot is for stages with really close and really far targets. You could run the power ring up and down, or flip the rifle to the other optic. If you're in open, and you can have it, why not? I used to zero my Docter to 50yds., but I was duplicating what my main scope woud do, and I didn't really use it that far. So I went to a 25yd. zero for it, and hold dead on at pistol distance shots. Stage designers tend to put head shots up close to try to make the close hoser shots a little more challenging, so now I don't have to remember to hold up or down, just shoot.
  23. M16 BCG is GTG in an AR15. My CR Pro Elite has an M16 BCG.
