  1. Thanks, that is exactly what I needed to know from someone with actual hands on experience.
  2. The American also is missing 1 or 2 chokes the regular model has. Not a biggie, I would think. Most are going to run the mod. or lt. mod. anyhow.
  3. I searched, and found some threads that said "it should work", but has anyone actually done it? My 9L is just like I want it, but I would like to shoot some 40 too. I understand the possible extraction/ejection issues, I just want to know if the barrel will fit in the slide, from someone who has done it.
  4. What was the turnaround time?
  5. Found this on gunbroker while browsing, http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=300526033 I don't know the seller, and have no interest in this, just trying to help someone out. I see it has the Limbsaver pad on it already. Looks like a nice gun.
  6. First, Benelli's kick more than most shotguns. It's the nature of an inertia operated gun. Have you considered a Mossberg 930? A little softer, and Benny Hill loves them. And cheaper. If I wasn't invested in my M1, I would definitely be serious about the 930JM model. I just don't think the Benelli will be kind to your back, even with the Limbsaver. The Limbsaver recoil pad is available from Brownells and Midway. It is a super squishy pad that really soaks up recoil. I'm sure there is discussion here somewhere if you search for it.
  7. I found an older HK imported M1 on gunbroker with chokes and an extra pistol grip stock for $650. They are out there, just have to hunt. I think the M2 American is a great deal. They are on sale frequently at Dick's for $800. Add the Limbsaver recoil pad, Nordic tube, and shoot it until you are ready to send it to Benny.
  8. Recommend another decent hotel close to the match. My group just realized that we don't want to leave at 3:00am before the match.
  9. I like the S&W M&P22 mags. Has a button to pull the follower down like a 22 pistol mag.
  10. But imagine how fast your squad will get through the stages! Could be worse, like shooting with a bunch of revolver shooters! Just kidding Phil & Ed.
  11. Truspec 24/7 , but with zip off legs to convert to shorts.
  12. I have no experience with it, but have been reading up on the Mueller Speed Shot. It is a 1-4x24 with a simple red dot reticle. Supposed to be daylight visible. Prices were in the mid $200. I have had a Meopta, they are definitely daylight visible.
  13. A buddy has a condo that he rents out cheap in Destin, FL. Is there any USPSA matches nearby?
  14. Well stage 7 does have an air conditioner set up! First time I've seen AC on the range.
  15. You have to reload after using 31 rounds? Some kind of indoor stage there.
  16. Went down to watch the RO's shoot and video the stages. Looks pretty straight forward. No memory stages or "gotcha's", except stage 7. That one looks a little more challenging than the others. Popper activators on either end of the wall that activate swingers on the opposite end. And the poppers are neither right nor left hand friendly. Looks like fun. Gonna be a hot one, hydrate or die! Oh, and I didn't win a gun. Got a tshirt. Matt had the guns on display, look very sharp.
  17. Colt armorers school I attended said it is a non issue with quality components. Headspace is not adjustable like a FAL, only way to change it is to change bolts, or ream the chamber. If it is chrome lined, you're SOL on reaming.
  18. I don't think you're getting more reliability, do you? I'd try the 11 coil spring. Is the bottom of your slide dragging the feed lips? Not sure why the feed lips would speed like that. I use the same setup as you, except 11 coil. I get 23 rounds with no tuning, been reliable so far. In the big stick, same components except 13 coil with one cut off. 29 rounds.
  19. We already have a rule for it. If it doesn't have the safety on or is not unloaded, DQ. If it falls or breaks the 180, DQ. Too much subjectivity in "do it safer". Not sure about IMGA, but USPSA has the unsafe gun handling rule. I think safety rules have to be clearly definable, ie. 180 violations, finger in trigger guard. "You abandoned your rifle too forcefully" is not. "You dropped your rifle" is.
  20. I have the Colt CR I got off the table at last years Pro/Am. Very nice rifle. I'll see if I can find the thread, had parts list & pics in it.
  21. After shooting the B&P slugs, I will never buy any other, as long as they are available.
  22. That's why we visit Chicago, but live in Ohio! Forgot to mention the Chicago hotdogs at Navy Pier. OMG! nothing like a natural casing dog with all the veggies.
  23. We go to Chicago every summer for a weekend, catch a Cubs game, and eat. Al's Beef, best in town. Gotta get it "wet", dipped in the gravy they make the beef in, & with the spicy giardinara on it. We also go to Lou Malnati's for deep dish pizza. Finish up with Garrett Popcorn, Chicago mix, with caramel & cheese mixed together.
  24. I see this sold for the BIN price. Would have been a steal at $850.
