  1. Saw a Chauchat French WW1 POS machine-gun at a Bill Goodman's. Owner said he never got it to run, but was an interesting piece of history.
  2. I'm scheduled for surgery on Jan. 4 to repair a labrum tear and clean up some bursitus. I have some small rotator cuff tearing, but they do not need to be surgically repaired. Doc told me 2 months optimistically, 3-4 months realistically, before he would sign off on me going back to full duty. Screw duty, when can I shoot!
  3. Ace skeleton is A1 length without the rubber pad on. A2 with it. Light, & comfy.
  4. It's +5 in 40, +6 in 9mm, same 140 base pad. I don't slam them in too hard, about the same as I did for a full STI mag. My 9mm mags with 23 in them drop free just fine. The 9 mags have vertical ribs I think that make the mag more rigid. I took my SSS magwell off & tried the 20rd mags & they dropped free, so it must have something to do with the mag well. Will look further. I have no problem with the slide on the last shot. The factory springs seem plenty strong. I do need to trim the followers, they hang up at the 17th round.
  5. The Holiday in Quincy is pretty nice. Last few times I shot the SSC, I stayed there. Hot breakfast in the morning, indoor pool, and the Patio restaurant across the street.
  6. I've got 6 mags with Taylor Freelance +5 basepads and the stock springs. They hold 20 rounds and are reloadable. But, none of them will drop free when loaded. When the rounds in them go down, they will drop free, usually, but I did have one stick last night with around 5 still in it. I have the 9mm mags with the same bases, and they drop just fine. Has anyone else had their 40 mags with the TF bases swell like this? If so, any fixes? Feels like I'm using the old 1st gen Glock mags.
  7. I use a Safariland 6377 ALS on a duty belt hanger to drop it down a little, for 3gun. This is the same as my duty holster for the Sig 226, so draw is identical. I like the security it provides for 3gun. I too was looking for something a little quicker for limited division.
  8. Because there are so many better choices. M&P, Glock come to mind. One trigger pull to learn, that can be under 2# safely. Parts that don't have to be hand fitted when they break. The 3rd Gen guns were much better than earlier guns, but were left behind when the polymer guns came into their own.
  9. I think 540 is the same as HS-6. Not sure what 571 is.
  10. So are you tired of looking and want to buy, or patient and willing to wait the winter? Kind of confusing...
  11. I thought about posting in the thread about a shooter's first stage DQ, but thought better and decided to start a specific thread. I come from a mostly USPSA pistol background, but have been shooting 3/multigun for about 5 years. I never heard of a stage DQ before in these disciplines. If you were unsafe to be DQ'd on a stage, your were done for the day. I don't recall reading any rule sets that allow only a stage DQ. I realize that 3/multigun matches are 99% outlaw, and rules sets are as numerous as the day is long, but why a stage DQ instead of sending them home? Ft. Benning was one and your done (don't ask how I know). Ky. multigun at Owensboro was too, IIRC. I recall Horner got a stage DQ at Rockcastle this year. Are these stage DQ's unique to specific matches, or are they a growning trend? Opinions?
  12. I just bought a box from Grainger. $6 for 100, 1/2" long.
  13. I got a CR Pro off the prize table at Rockcastle last year, and it came with a Vltor clamp on gas block. Is the adjustable gas new, or are there different models of CR Pro's?
  14. I don't think the GRSC comes in green. The Leatherwood does, & it's reticule is similar to the GRSC. Maybe that is what you saw.
  15. The only green dot I've found is the Docter clone from Primary Arms. I have several.
  16. For budget red dots, look at Primary Arms. I have several Micro clones and Docter clones, love em. Check reviews on them here and on AR15.com. Great youtube videos too.

    M&P 9mm

All my M&P's have done this. I take it down this way: Lock the slide back manually, then pull the wire down. Holding the gun in your right hand, rotate the takedown lever down. Hold the lever in the down position with your right thumb, pull the slide back with your left hand to release the slide stop, then ease it off.
  18. I've had both. The Nordic/Wilson twist rate allows a wider selection of bullets (theoretically, each barrel likes what it likes). The Nordic is a lighter profile, the WOA I had to send to ADCO to have it turned down, an extra expense. I think the Nordic is cheaper too, with the profile you'll want.
  19. I've carried: Kahr PM9, Kahr CW9, Keltec P3AT, S&W 642, and currently the Ruger LC9. The Kahr PM9 was the Cadillac of carry guns, but I thought the CW9 would only be a little larger, and a lot cheaper. I had some feed ramp stoppages with the CW9, so I sold it and got the LC9. I love the Ruger. It has been reliable with any ammo I've tried in it, very flat and concealable. Trigger is long, as is the reset, but that does not bother me in a deep concealment carry gun. I still have the P3AT and 642, and carry them occasionally.
  20. Taran Butler doesn't wear a cap. But with a head of hair like that, I wouldn't either! KC wears it backwards, but he's a kid, and CDI applies.
  21. A 92FS and G frames are identical. The slides are different. The G has a spring in the mechanism that pops the lever back up to the fire position.
  22. Get the Railway. It is a Slide Ride with a Weaver/Picatinny mount on it. Take off the mount, sell it, and put the sight on your new open gun. 7 MOA dot is popular. Click or regular switch is up to you.
  23. I'm not saying this is the case, but what if the sticker was covering markings such as "M&P 40 Pro", but the shooter had a 9 conversion barrel in it? That is the only reason I can think why someone would put a sticker on the slide, other than being goofy.
  24. I have the Jack Travers magwell sold by Millenium Custom Guns for use with AGP mags. It requires modifying the front pivot tab on the mag, so it will no longer work without the magwell installed. It is MUCH faster to load with the magwell than without. The Firebird magwell is even faster, from the video I've seen, but it is more $$$, and requires a notch to be cut in the mag body, so it will work like an AR mag. I ran my Saiga at the Pro/Am without the magwell, and used my MDArms drum. All but one stage could be ran without a reload using the drum.
  25. I've typed, and erased several times here. I just don't have the words. Good shows on the History Channel.
