Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I got asked a question today that I really had no idea of the answer. How many USPSA masters are in the US? How many grandmasters? Mr. Googles can't find the answer. Anybody know? Have an educated guess? thanks
  2. Glock 34 with Arredondo extensions. Sounds like I'll be letting them hit the floor. Thanks guys, I figured as much. Concrete just seems so much harder than the pea gravel and b19 that I'm used to.
  3. I don't have a lot of experience competing on an indoor range. Fortunately there are plenty of outdoor ranges around here. But, I will be, and it just hit me that I will be dropping mags onto a concrete floor. This doesn't seem good. I really don't want to have to retain them, and I'm sure that in the heat of battle I will revert to my normal habit of letting them hit the floor. So, what do you do? thanks Randy
  4. I hope they can find the missing scores. Not sure if it was the operator or the device, but I get nervous trusting electronics.
  5. I'm curious about Stage 1 also. I also noticed Eddie is not in the results? He was working that iPad all day, maybe he deleted himself. Now I'm even more afraid to touch it!
  6. What happened to Stage One? Is that bay cursed? We threw out a stage there the last time I was there. Also, I noticed one of the guys on my squad isn't showing on any of the scores.
  7. I shot the BGSL match this weekend near Lexington, KY. They always put on a good match and this one was no exception. They also included a classifier stage. I liked it. They actually had another stage that was very similar to the classifier. Both stages required a mag change on the rifle. I think I did more rifle mag changes in this match than I did all of last season. I thought it was pretty cool, another skill to hone. I like the classification idea, it gives me a benchmark and new goals to work toward. I love big, long stages, running through natural terrain, but these classifiers are fun too. Here's a little video from the match:
  8. We had great weather, and the match was a lot of fun. Our squad was very efficient and moved along very smoothly right up until the final stage, which for us was the long-range stage. We arrived on that stage and the squad ahead of us was on their first shooter! Had to wait over an hour. Didn't get off the stage until after 6:00. We were getting pushed pretty hard to finish that stage, although it wasn't our squad that was the hold up, something happened long before we arrived. Our wait times on the other stages weren't bad, maybe five or six shooters. I also thought the classifier was fun. Really weird to do a mag change with the rifle like that, but I liked it. Have to remember to dump the dang thing in the barrel and not put it back on the table. I loved the long-range steel, but I think trying to call hits on those targets was too difficult for the ROs. Some flashers or something hanging that moved more would be a lot easier. Another great match at BGSL, thanks to everyone involved in putting it together, looking forward to the next one!
  9. Thanks to everyone involved for a great season of shooting! Sorry I had to miss the final event, I would've liked to have seen the shoot-off in person. Randy
  10. I think rifle mags should be limited to 30 rounds in tactical divisions, but I've already taken my beating over this issue here so I'm not going to say anything. Oh wait...
  11. Squad sizes are a bit lopsided as of now, hopefully things will even up a bit by Sunday.
  12. I use a camping cot. Easy to transport and easy to set-up and tear down. To make things more interesting, I start the shooter flat on his back with a towel over his face, gun on nearby "nightstand". Starting in the dark helps to simulate that disoriented just-woke-up feeling.
