  1. Everything you've said you want to do to a Gen 3 is legal in Production. Hell you can take a G17 Gen 5 slide and put it on a G17 Gen 3. If it will fit and the pistol will run, it's a legal mod. It doesn't matter how "well respected" anyone is as an MD. That doesn't make them knowledgeable about the rules in general or in particular. It's the classic "appeal to authority" logical fallacy. However, Sarge is correct too. If the rules say you can't do it as a mod, it doesn't matter what newer pistols come with. There's no need for logic. It just is.
  2. That was me at my first match ever (IDPA)
  3. If you are going to use the DAA backpack as one of your carry-ons, make ABSOLUTELY sure that there are no firearm parts of any kind (including magazines) left in it inadvertently. You will find yourself from anywhere between mildly inconvenienced to in a world of legal hurt if you miss that and TSA finds it. I also will strongly suggest that you to ignore any advise about asking the airline employees at the counter about what the requirements are. Some of them flat out don't know and will make rules on the spot rather than ask for a supervisor or looking it up. Your particular airline and TSA both have detailed webpages about their requirements. You have to comply with both. Study them, understand them, and print copies to take with you. If an employee is telling you to do something contrary to published policy, politely but firmly decline and ask for a superior to discuss the issue with. It's you, not them, who are liable for the penalties for improperly transporting firearms in a commercial flight.
  4. So maybe I missed it, but what does the target look like when you slap the s#!t out of the trigger to get your fastest splits? And at what distance?
  5. It isn't about what you ask. It's about the response some new shooters give to the person giving them advice. The appropriate response is "thanks, I'll try that" (even if you never do). The wrong response is "but I like my way better because....." or "my way is what works for me". Those sorts of answers will guarantee that you will never get any help, at least from me.
  6. You didn't get my point You did Carry on
  7. What is even the point of that rule? I don't think anyone at IDPA has ever concealed for real-life , day-to-day carry a real revolver in their lives. No one who's ever carried a real revolver (not a j frame in a pocket) on a daily basis would write the SSR/ESR rules they way they are, particularly those regarding the number and placement of reloading devices. It's extremely frustrating, just like their refusal to consider appendix carry. So much for "the real world concealed carry sport"........
  8. Not as much as a Glock because it doesn't need anywhere near as much as a Glock. What there is, it's more than plenty. I heard the same sort of BS a decade ago when I decided to go with Howa rifles for long range precision shooting instead of a Remington. My choice was validated by a superior platform that didn't, and doesn't, need aftermarket gimmicks of every sort to be a performer.
  9. Just make sure that the highest point of the back strap is above the top on the belt when the gun is in the holster on your body.
  10. So I guess the answer remains the same. The mag release button you asked about is still not approved for SSP.
  11. After seeing what a PITA it is to remove the magazine release on my plain jane 75BD, I love the way that works on the P-07 and P-09. Stupid easy and no gorilla force required.
  12. Not sure I understand. To me, a short movement without a reload is precisely when you need your hard firing grip the most. If I have to run across the stage in some direction, then I'll let the pistol go with my left hand and just RUN.
  13. Agree. I always look out for that during training and repeat that to myself when visualizing and during make ready.
  14. +1 Awesome scope. If you can't smack 500 yard IPSC steel with it, 6X ain't going to help you.
  15. Make your first Glock a CZ P-10F OR and you'll thank me later
  16. Really? Didn't I read recently that now in IPSC Production you can pretty much rip the entire trigger mechanism and replace it with whatever you want? Doesn't sound "stock" to me.
  17. Just trying to help

  19. Fair enough. I'm one of those who won't stay silent if I see someone getting screwed. I've also had squadmates back me up against BS RO calls (IDPA).
  20. If you live in the SW to central Ohio area (Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Lima) and want an opportunity to shoot your rifle at more than square range targets here you go: https://practiscore.com/gcf-g-slc-action-rifle-match-june-29th/register I'm pretty sure PCC is allowed but with a 75 yard stage in the mix, I wouldn't try it.
  21. First, how do you know no one else said or did anything to support Ross? Second, even if you're right, who knows? A lot of people know absolutely nothing about the rules of the sport they play. I run into at least one at every match. Others simply mind their own business even if they do understand what's up. They just won't get involved in other people's problems no matter what.
  22. Then that would be a no, wouldn't it? 8.2.1.2.C is crystal clear about that.
  23. Did you read the sentence in his very first post where he said he lived in Milford, Ohio? Apparently not.
