  1. Yes. Some stores list it as discontinued by them. Both Grafs and Midsouth have it in stock. I didn't check anywhere else, because they are the two I buy from.
  2. I have tried CCI Standard (0032), CCI AR Tactical, Geco Semi Auto and Eley Target. The most accurate is the Eley target. However, it cannot be depended on for SCSA. There are occasional FtFs and failures to extract. This is typical for a Wiland Benz chamber, I'm told. All of the rest functioned 100%. The AR Tactical was the least accurate. The Geco was very nice, but you get liquid wax on your hands from handling/loading it. I use AR Tactical in my RFPO gun, because it will not reliably cycle standard velocity ammo. The last case of AR Tactical I bought is not as good as the previous cases. I get a FtF about once every 300 rounds. So I won't be using it again.
  3. This ^^^. Both of my Trubore blanks had to be throated to take 1.161" OAL JHPs. HAP, PD, Everglades, etc., it doesn't matter. Same with 124s.
  4. Assuming there is nothing amiss with the gun, if your mag feed lips are correct, OAL is not the issue. My Open gun will feed factory and long OALs equally well. It even feed ultra short 115gr RN reloads.
  5. Unless Steve has incorporated the required change in new production, you have to modify the Everglades block slightly to get the e2 to seat properly. I take a small file and about 60 seconds to do. Here is the mod. Remove a little material from the intersection of the chamfer and the top of the block.
  6. I can't wear wool. even smart wool sox. I have a bunch that go unused. Apr thru Dec I wear my running shoes. Jan thru Mar I wear my Goretex lined backpacking boots. The bays are always a mess then, so I want high ankle waterproof. If it snows before the Dec match, I wear boots.
  7. That would be a logistical nightmare. Plus, I can flat out tell you it doesn't work. Even if all the orders were made correctly, people change their minds and take something other than what they ordered. Then other people have to eat something they didn't order, or not eat at all because they have an allergy or something that prevents them from eating what is left. Your idea of having a known good caterer prepare the food it a good one. Just be sure to have something(s) non-pork and non-meat for the number of shooters who cannot eat one or both of those things. I happen to be allergic the the entire family of bell peppers. That's another reason I bring my own food. The volunteer servers have no idea what's in the food. The idea of a vendor truck in lieu of a provided meal is another of those ideas that just does not work. It disrupts the match, because they cannot make a large number of orders quickly, especially since each one it picked form a long menu. I can't tell you how many times I've called for a shooter who wasn't there because he was at the food truck. The apology is always the same. "I had no idea it would take so long", or a variation of that. So if you are going to provide lunch, make sure the food is good and the hot food is served hot. Placing a hot pulled pork in a large Aluminum foil pan and putting it on a table with no hot plate guarantees the food will be cold before all of it is served. Same for Hamburgers. They don't stay hot for long. A woman who catered one of my shoots had many tricks up her sleeve. She would pre-cook and sear all the hamburgers, then drop them into Coke. Weird, but effective. The soda kept them moist. She would pull some out, put them on the grill and in less than a minute or two could produce a new batch of hot, tasty hamburgers. She had tricks for the other foods as well. So everyone always got hot food. I wish she had stayed in business. I'd still be using her.
  8. The front of your feed lips are too far apart. Also, MBX springs have to be conditioned by leaving them completely loaded for a week or two until they take a set. That doesn't sound like your problem, because a nose dive is the result of too long MBX springs. If you haven't already done so, it pays to condition them.
  9. 22 LR certainly does generate enough gas to work a comp on a pistol. Through an efficient 2-port comp on by 1911 conversion, the dot barely move when firing Eley Force. With Eley Target, the movement is considerably more. That being said, the 'ports' jrdoran shows will do absolutely nothing the help muzzle rise. You don't need the ports to help with the timer. I was astonished by how loud the Wiland barrel was with standard velocity ammo. It is way louder than when fired from a 16" barrel.
  10. The actual barrels are the same, except the SS 'barrel' has a comp port. Although off topic, I'd like to comment on the accuracy of at least my barrel. I have the standard black barrel without port. I sighted in in quickly on Sunday and was surprised at how closely all the types of ammo I shot grouped at 16 yards. Yesterday I ran the new gun through its paces to see whether it would run enough ammo for an entire match. I shot CCI Standard, Geco Semi Auto, Eley Target and CCI AR Tactical. With all the ammo I was able to knock down standard Air Rifle sized silhouettes at 50 yards. The hard ones were the baby chickens. Their body area was smaller than a nickel, but larger than a dime. The only ammo that would consistently knock them down was the Eley Target. This was with the stock resting on my palm and my elbow resting on the bench. Offhand I was lucky to hit three chickens in five shots. So the bottom line is this barrel is way more than accurate enough for Steel Challenge, which is what I bought it for. On a lark I'm going to buy a scope for it and rests and see how it does in a bench rest competition.
  11. I've shot Area 8 and Bobbie Q. Not very good. Plus, by the time I get to eat there is very little left and it's ice cold. That's why I bring my own food everywhere. If I'm ever surprised by good food, I'll eat it. If it is an all day match I do like the lunch break. I'm 72 and need it. Not providing lunch for the staff is inexcusable. Those people work hard and should have no out of pocket costs other than maybe for gas to come and go.
  12. In EGW parts I use a Ti mainspring cap and strut, SS firing pin with a 17 or 19 lb. mainspring. You will not wear those two Ti parts out.
  13. It depends on how deep you go with the cutting. A 'normal' tri-top takes between 1.5 and 1.75 oz out of the slide. Any more than that and you risk the slide eventually cracking.
  14. I'm fairly consistent. I'm currently less than 1.4 seconds off my peak for RFPO, and at peak for Open. That doesn't mean I don't occasionally have a bad stage, like 18 seconds for Roundabout. Right there is an 8-9 second 'penalty'. Have another stage like that and it's easy to see how you can be 20 seconds off your peak time for the match. Equipment problems in Open on the last two stages of my last match easily added 30 seconds to my overall time.
  15. Most of the digital scales I've used have flaws. All but one supper from adding a few flakes at a time. You really do have to lift the pan and replace it to get a better reading. When accuracy counts I use this scale. https://peregrinemonolithics.com/product/peregrine-bullets-scale/ Admittedly it is a pain to use, because it is so sensitive. You cannot have any air currents from HVAC or you have to close the cover to get an accurate reading. When super calibrated using both weights independently, it is accurate to 1/100th grain or 1/1000th gram. It is the only digital scale I own that is more accurate than my Ohaus beam scale. Long range precision rifle shooters use this scale. It even comes with extremely pointy tweezers for removing a single flake of powder at a time.
  16. I suspect the primers were not seated fully. A friend had the same problem and thought he had a bad batch of primers. I told him to put it back in the gun and fire, Nothing. Again. nothing. Again. bang. All of his supposedly dud rounds went off after one or more primer strikes. The first strike actually pushes the primer in farther. when enough strikes have occurred to fully seat the primer it will go off. The only time I've had a problem with CCI500 primers was with a used Open gun I bought. Light strikes. The previous owner used a 15lb mainspring and a Ti firing pin. Swapped them out for a 17 lb MS and a SS firing pin and the problem vanished. I buy CCI primers 15,000 at a time. That lasts a tad over a year. I literally cannot remember the last time I had a CCI primer failure. I had a couple with WSP, plus there are often out of round and clog the primer tube filler port. That's why I switched to CCI for large and small.
  17. No button, although both catches are extended and threaded. I tried buttons, but they got in the way and I had occasional unintended mag releases.
  18. Well my Wiland 11 oz. 22 barrel finally arrived. I reduced the diameter of the tenon and fit it to the receiver, assembled the rifle and shot it today. I had some trouble fully chambering CCI Standard. I think it was the amount of wax they put on the bullet. Eley target and Geco Semi Auto worked perfectly At 16 yards the Eley was one hole. The CCI was a slightly bigger hole. I had not trouble hitting 2"x3" swinging targets at 50 yards. That's way, way more than accurate enough for steel. Final build came in at 3 lb. 11 oz. It transitions like lightning.
  19. I believe that, but that doesn't capture everything. I know a bunch of shooters using a certain brand of coated bullets as a thank you for sponsoring matches and/or stages. Another bunch uses a different brand for the same reason. I switched to using Tandemkross parts for my Buckmark pistol and my 10/22 because they make good parts, number 1, and they sponsor matches and stages where I shoot Steel Challenge. The other two firms that make equally good parts don't Actually one doesn't at all. The other occasionally sponsors something. Years ago I enjoyed watching Masterpiece Theater. It was sponsored by Mobil, so I used their gas. One because it was good, and two because they sponsored a show I liked. So while you may not see an immediate blip in sales, you may well gain more down stream. I'm sure the shooters who switched bullets didn't run right out and buy some. They did when they needed more. Geez, if I decided to switch 9mm bullets today, I'd still have 2500 to run through before I bought the new brand. So I do believe you get value from your sponsorship, even if it doesn't come via email.
  20. It doesn't pick up shots from another bay, even though I can clearly hear them. I think it has something to do with the sharpness of the sound. Sounds from your shooter have a sharp attack. Shots from another bay have a softer attack, even though it may be louder. It's like calling for a bird at ATA Trap. If your call starts with an explosive consonant, as in Pull, the bird comes out. Calls with soft consonants have to be a lot louder to have any chance of working at all. It also doesn't get echos from the side berms. I forget how long it is, but I believe there is a 5 millisecond freeze after a shot is recorded and it can pick up another shot. I'll experiment at the next shoot and see how sensitive I can make it without false positives. I do know that at maximum sensitivity it will pick up the hammer fall in dry fire. If you position it just right it picks up taking the safety off. I'll also try less sensitive, just in case.
  21. Yes, but not scientific. A couple of weeks ago a GM PCC shooter ran the course and the timing RO swore he did not pick up the last shot. He did, but could not believe a time of 10.0 seconds. He required a reshoot. We whipped out an AMG and found we could pick up all the shots from 20 yards away. BTW, he reshot the course in 9.8 seconds. At yesterday's match I was running a PCC shooter on a course where I could not be in the best position to pick up all the shots. The CED7000 timer provided only caught 10 of 20 shots. I got my AMG and ran him again. It picked up every mouse fart shot. Sensitivity was set on 5 out of 10.
  22. Every thing is checked at chrono, and they are not gentle about it. If any safety feature fails, the gun is out.
  23. You need the half cock to work. That is checked at the chrono station. I believe your new trigger bow is a bit too long, or you set the pre-travel arms out too far. Did you get the tri-glide or the regular? The last time that happened to me with a new trigger, I left it in the gun, placed a punch on the rear of the bow and gave it a moderate tap. That pushed the rear of the bow towards the front of the gun and the half cock worked again.
