  1. I've shot a 1100 Comp master for 4 years. 1. Lube it. Learned that on this web site. 2. For match ammo the Win AA's and the REM STS are the best and I've had no problems using either of these. 3. mine will stove pipe occasionally with the wally world bargan ammo, or those called club loads. 4. there is a caution about the side saddle being tightened too much so you might loosen it just to see. 5. shoot it some more, mime smoothed out after a thousand rounds. 6. Save your money and buy a Benneli!!!!!!just kidding, for sure someone will suggest that.
  2. I put one of CMMG's stainless steel followers in mine, which had the same problem, hanging up, and it run's 100 percent.
  3. I think it sucks. the story lines are hard to follow, the angel really doesn't have any purpose, it throws in gratitious sex which doesn't really serve the story line. Holly Hunter is a better actress than this vehicle allows. I still watch in and will for a few more weeks to see if the writing improves.
  4. Plus 1 on that. Thier stages are always thought out and challenging. The weather this year was perfect. Thanks to the club, members and RO"s for the long days of help, running, setting up and tearing down, and the ladies in the scoring shack really hustled with the results.
  5. Happiness is a warm Krispy Kreme.
  6. get two hula hoops, put them 5-7 yards a part,in your backyard, get your timer and a 5-7 pound dumbbell. set the timer for a par time like 5 seconds. set on random start. Hold the weight up like a handgun, when the timer goes off, run to the other hula hoop and have the weight up and pointed when you get in the box, do this 10 times every few days. if you can do this, start lowering the time. use the handweight since the neighbors might not appreciate you running back and fourth with a gun in your hand.
  7. I started reloading with a lee turret press and have used one for 12 years. they are well made and reasonably priced. nearly everyone on this forum recommends thier factory crimp dies which are also reasonably. I have a dillion, which is ok but I think is somewhat of a rube goldberg type of contraption and dillion must think so as well since they sell a spare parts kit, full of springs and gizmos to keep your dillion running. if you are new to reloading and want something simple to get started with buy the Lee.
  8. watched him every saturday morning when I was a kid. Thought it was the best show on TV. Sorry I hear of his passing.
  9. The match was a big improvement over last year. I liked the scoring results which were posted for saturday review and sunday morning a.m., and the fast post onto the internet, that was great. i would like to see one or two more stages especially since we were there for 3 days, maybe a close in, rifle, house clearing type stage so those with red dot scopes could get some use out of it. RO's calling shots was at times a little confusing, however, the alternative could be they don't call shots and you shoot what you think you hit, stopping when you think you're done. no disputes allowed. a couple of water jugs would be nice. the prize table is the best. 3 gunning's the best no matter what. thanks to all at CMMG and the Fire for Effect range folks. I'll be back.
  10. this is a fun match. nice match hotel not too far from range, well thought out stages which makes good use of thier facitiies, nice people that run it, and last year they had a BBQ smoker truck brought in and the food was the best I've ever had at any match, I ate like twice. I'm headed back.
  11. last years was 2 days, we shot nearly all the stages on saturday, came back sunday and shot 2 last stages and waited the rest of the day for scoring. fyi
  12. we need a little more info, like what time do we start? are we actually all shooting over 3 days, or are the ro's shooting friday? are these the final courses of fire? I'm ready to go,never the less.
  13. I can't even begin to tell you about all the knives I've ruined trying to sharpen them and all the sharpening gee gaws i've bought in the pursuit of trying to do the same, or the gun I took apart and couldn't get back together, or the slide I tried to tighten, or my home bluing job and turned out sort of multi colored........at some point you just got to laugh.
  14. S&W Airweight in .38 its light, fits in your jean pocket, and will go bang when you need it to.
  15. yep, it's great. I was there most of the day and walked my feet off. There's so much stuff in sort of makes you dizzy walking around in the middle of it. if you havn't been to one in the past you should make it a point in the future to get to one.
  16. several years ago I read in a gun magzine of a straight wall cartidge which was reloaded 133 times before it split. If you are like me I reload once fired brass and try to pick most of it up after shooting, but I usually only recover 60=70 percent if that, and I reload this brass again, repeating the process. I do hand prime and handle each case when reloading and usually when seating a bullet you can tell when it slips in real easy, its usually cracked. I think you could reload like this for a long time with a .45 without problems.
  17. I use the CQ/T and find it limited past 200 yards and wish it had a little more magnification. The dot is too large and covers too much of the target if you are shooting at standard size poppers at distance. Last year at a match the targets were against a light colored backround at 275 yards and it was nearly impossible to make out the targets from the background at 3x. I've been looking at something in the 5x range, but not sure what since they all have some limitations. still looking of course, I'm an old man and can't see like you young bucks, I shoot like a blind man you might say, which can be a little exciting at the range.
  18. I go right for the chamber, saves time from having to rack.
  19. 1. Encourage your regulars to bring a friend....and if they do, they can shoot for a reduced fee....like 2 for 25 bucks. 2. Let first time shooters shoot for free or reduced fee like 5 bucks. 3. Have someone video tape a few stages at a match and edit it into a 10 minute video, set up an information booth at a gun show, or your clubs annual dinner, or something like that. 4. If your club puts out a newletter, write an article on what ipsc shooting is and what equipment you need to shoot a match. submit some photos. 5. Encourge your Ro's to help new and first time shooters, coach them thru the stages, your regular shooters won't complain, they were all there at one time or another. 6. Run for an office position at your club, they can use your help and it gives you a chance to meet many different people from other disciplines, talk yours up. 7. Go shoot at other area matches, meet people, and mention your match. hope this helps.
  20. that is one Beeeuuu- t- ful rifle.
  21. I have a 16 inch barrel Armalite, have shot it regularly for past 4 years, in 3 gun matches, and just plinking and I've had zero problems with it what so ever. did have a couple of mag problems with some cheaper mags, when I first got it, and didn't know better, but that's long past. it's a tack driver for sure.
  22. Here's a thought. Take two mags and load them to capacity and leave them that way for a week. then try them. Your mag springs may be so strong they are pushing up with too much force. I had a similar problem at the start of every year, I would put in new mag springs and sure enough I would get these type of jams however after a few weeks of regular use the problem went away. Someone told me to load them up and let them set, sure enough it worked. just something to try anyway.
