Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Wouldn't you want as little slide movement as possible for carry opitcs?
  2. Not to derail this but since its carry optics and about recoil springs maybe someone can answer a similar question. With carry optics, wouldn't you want to go with a heavier recoil spring? Wouldn't you want to " short stroke " the slide so to speak like in PCC. So wouldn't running a heavier spring weight, say a 17 or 20 pound give you less dot movement? Help me out here.
  3. Yes, the internal spring is what i was talking about. I went with the red spring inside the buffer and a JP 308 spring instead of the supplied yellow
  4. Nitro, Which spring did you have in the MBX buffer? The Red one?
  5. Vertical foregrips aid in muzzle strikes and weapon retention in cqb area's.
  6. Well i just shot the NC Recon match, and am glad to report that the new rem 1100 ran like a champ. I had no issues with the gun. The Three gun gear side saddle worked great as well. luxor.
  7. I will be there, see you guys Sat. I heard some rumors that this might be the last year this event will be held at this location. Don't know if its true or not. I am going to shoot # 4 buck for the whole match. Same as last year. Keep your fingers crossed for no rain.
  8. Wear the gun club ammo reloads? No, New factory Remington ammo.
  9. Hey Guys, Well i took the gun apart cleaned and lubed as directed. Went out today and put 125 rounds though the gun. I have pretty much narrowed the problem down to ammo related. The ammo i was shooting when the problem occured was Remington 2.75, #8 marked gun club on the side of the shell. So today i put three different brands of ammo though it. These brands where # 7.5 and 1350fps. Also some #4 buck. The gun ran fine with all of the new ammo, even hip shooting it, slow and fast. So i went back to the Remington # 8s and guess what, the same problem. I would like to add that i did replace the 0-ring. This may also have helped. I have also decided to take the side saddle off. Since it was the one that bolts to the gun, replace it with one from 3gungear. Note: The side saddle was on the gun when i tested it today. Thanks for all the replys and info. Luxor.
  10. Ok, Eric i did'nt touch the gas system before i shot the match, so i will try different ammo. I took the gun apart today. I cleaned every thing and used pipe cleaners on the gas ports. I did not lube the gun as the instructions i got with it say not to. I will lube it if you guys are willing to tell me what parts on the gas system ect.. need lube. Thanks for all the info. luxor.
  11. Ok, guilty as charged. I cleaned out the bore and wiped down the bolt. that was it. did not know the gas system needed to be cleaned. ( Hey i shoot glocks, not used to all this cleaning stuff!!! ) I will break it down and give it a good scrubbing and change the o-ring. Thanks Luxor.
  12. Hey guys, First, i have used an 870 for ever and am new to auto's. I recently bought a new 1100 tactical i think is what they call it. It is already set up for competetion. It came with the 8 round ext, and i put a 6 round side saddle on it. I put 25 rounds of #8 2.75, 3dram rounds though it. Also 5 reduced recoil slugs. The gun ran fine. I am in my happy place. Took it to the three gun match today and the thing took a s**t. The gun became a single shot. Every round stove piped. My question, What the hell is wrong with it? I have been given all sorts of advice. I.e. needs to broke in, not lubed right, shells to weak, not shouldering right. ect... Help me out guys. Thanks. Luxor.
  13. luxor, I hope you don't mind me posting, or asking about your situation here. These guy's are good, and can help with a lot of different problems. I didn't know you'd be here. Take'er away, and good luck Did you get the directions to Fredericksburg I sent? Bill, No i don't mind at all. Guys bill is a good guy and has helped me out on a lot of gun related problems. I have been shooting for quite a while but am new to uspsa. I usally shoot idpa, three gun, ect... So again thanks for all the help. luxor.
  14. Will do Yep. I guess if he's going to shoot factory, he'll need to test different brands and styles. In the meantime, shoot what works. I'm guessing his barrel may not like the 147's above supersonic vel. That's why I suggested he try them in his G17. Does that make any sense, or am I way off Hey Guys, I am the friend bill is refering to. I probably should elaborate on this some. What i was trying to say was that i am shooting better groups with 115 vs 147 because i am obtaining a quicker sight picture with the lighter stuff. The gun shoots fine with either ammo. I have shot alot of dannys ammo and currently have an order in route. this should fix my problem, as atlanta arms ammo crono's a lot less in velocity than the federal 147 does. I have heard the same comment from alot of guys about this very same thing. The 115's are moving the slide alot quicker there for i am getting back on target quicker. Does this make sense?. I really can't tell any differance in felt recoil between the two, so i am going to shoot the 115's till dannys ammo gets here. Thanks for the help guys.
