  1. Remove safety ( 1/16" pin punch needed), flip up sear spring into slot. Remove sear cage Remove the keeper pin that keeps the hammer pin in place (comes out the top and that's why the sear cage was removed) Push out the hammer pin. Done!
  2. I installed and removed the sear dozens of times to get it JUST able to engage. With the sear in place, look where the safety hits. It's that under edge that needs trimming. I used a dremel and just kissed it w a carbide die, but a sanding wheel bit would work. Just install, check, remove, grind a tiny amount, install, check, remove, grind, repeat, repeat, repeat. Some installed sear with spring each time using a slave pin, I didn't install the spring until finally happy with the fit. Yes, you need to manually do what the spring did while checking. That was no problem compared to aligning the spring with my fat fingers! I called the fit "good" when the safety was able to be forced up with some effort. The parts will loosen with use. The best guidance is to be extra super patient and expect to take 20-25 trials to get it just right. As you found, metal grinds off easier than it goes on!

    TS 40S&W longevity?

I was surprised to see barrels cracking at 35-40k. THAT has been corrected? Or have I missed the complaints?
  4. I load any brass I can scrounge. Also mark "my" brass for return at our local shoots. Have maybe 1/500 that cracks and maybe 3-4/500 with other oddities or glock bulge and those get tossed. I also shoot mostly minor with some soft major with heavy bullets going slow. The key is to inspect. I look it over dirty quick as cracks are easy to see w powder blow, then again clean and again as it's loaded.
  5. Really?*thumb rest [generic]* *thumb rest [generic]* Ill be danged... it does. Is "gas _ pedal" a registered trademark?
  6. Even if they say they are "the same", tolerances and wear can make them different enough to give this result. I fit the xtreme sear to a titan so close, it couldn't hardly engage. Now couple thousand safety clicks later and it's loose enough to be smooth. Id just get a new sear and fit it.
  7. Xtreme sear and hammer. Flow the linked guides, polishing is pretty straightforward. The plunger is an important one.
  8. Sorry for multipost, android fubaring up
  9. Depends on how much they had to drink at lunch! Joke
  10. Just my luck, out if town when the slow-office delivers the mail! Back now, installed the henning grips..... NICE! Much grippier than the wood, palms just lock in and hold. Slimmer feel with less "round" feeling when holding. Pics to follow.
  11. In usa, 99% certain it's large frame.
  12. New stock 2 is fitted with one wing EG Xtreme disco from the factory. Just polish it and call it good. I found the xtreme 1 wing felt better than the factory 2 wing with both polished... but not real pull force difference. I tried the EG light hammer spring and loved the feel... but, wouldn't reliably pop harder s&b primers (2-3/100). Went to wolff 13# and been reliable since. Mine has light fp spring, henning light plunger spring, 13# hammer spring, titan hammer, xtreme sear, extended fpb, henning g3 firing pin and a set og hennings new grip panels are awaiting install. Oh, and polished 3-4 times. The polishing really makes a huge difference. I still want to polish the hammer strut hole and plunger hole better. My opinion is that just polishing and swapping springs will get a person 70% of the way.
  13. Shipping notification the Henning grip panels for stock 2 has popped into my e-mail! Yippie. Now... more waiting while the post orifice does it's thing.
  14. I have titan and henning G3 w extended fpb. Works....but... the edge of the pin where it is blocked is rounding. If / when it has issues, the EG xtreme will replace it.
  15. Heat the slide with a heat gun, then try again If no heatgun, pop it in the oven at 450 for 10 min. Really, heat will expand the hole faster than the screw. If you put "red" on, you need like 550f 20 min and unscrew while hot.
  16. Stock 1 is NOT the competition frame, stock 2 and pro are competition frame.
  17. Taking these guns apart is pretty easy. Going back together is also pretty easy... by the 3rd or 4th time it's done. The first was a lot more "fiddling". Not crazy hard, just getting springs compressed with one hand, parts aligned with another, pin held with another while swinging the hammer with yet another hand! Mine have been apart 4-5 times each getting polished and a few more swapping in Xtreme parts. Much less worrisome now, but all your challenges were also found! Good job sharing and also thanks to the good professor Atlas for showing what to do and how to do it.
  18. Good shooting! The xcal is on my list.... as funds allow.
  19. Could be other gun companies don't like getting beat and thus put barriers in place? Actually, I think a better gun can improve a skilled person's performance. Won't turn a schlub like me into a winner, sadly.
  20. That loctite red is strong stuff. You were waaaay short on temp. 500f for 2 minutes, disassemble while above 500f.
  21. I don't understand the requirement of extended mags and mag wells for steel challenge? I use either a match or s2 and just load 10 rounds. If I miss so much I need a mag swap.... the time penalty is earned! The match came w 2 mags, so ot $75 more was needed for a set of 5.
