  1. CKing, What do you want to hear? I loaded 3 pounds of power pistol with that load, about half shot from an xdm (4.5") and the other half from a tanfoglio match. It worked pretty well, but I haven't found any more locally. A faster powder would give less recoil and might be cleaner, but it wasn't bad.
  2. Where do you guys dump the black water with all the poisonous heavy metal contaminates? We have a well and I sure don't want that crud creeping into the well water.
  3. If it's in the safe for over 72hrs, you can legally use the line "this old gun? It's been in there a long time "
  4. Do you treat your car differently than you treat your gun? Both are tools, both cost alot of money for what you get. Would you take a Makita grinder to the dealership label on the trunk deck because you didn't like it? I took a heat gun and razor to all the stickers and emblems on a new 48,000 truck the day after it came home. I took a 12,000 rpm die grinder with carbide bits to areas of the piping from the turbo, changed the programming, etc.
  5. Chrome plated copper? No idea if such even exists, but they look like heated oxidized chrome looks.
  6. I sure don't think so! But would be interested hearing more.
  7. Everyone wants to be equipped like the top dawg. Even though we know "it's the indian, not the arrow"... we still go looking for the same arrows! Just my opinion....
  8. Upload the video to a host like photobucket or youtube, then link to it.
  9. I put the Henning FO front along with his rear on my match and it is an improvement over the factory(for these old eyes anyway!)
  10. So the lighter recoil spring gave you less felt recoil? I would think it would be the opposite for some reason. I have no science to back that up just trying to realize how the gun operates. I "think" the lighter spring allows a slightly longer distance for the slide to move back resulting in more linear motion and less raise. then when it goes foreward there is less muzzle snap down so you're back on target with the sights faster. The shooters brain correlates flat as less recoil. Not sure if that's correct, but it's one take on it.
  11. Take out the trigger and bow. Then use pliers to pull the plunger out. A pin/spring in the mag release holds it, so you need to hold BOTH sides of the mag release while pulling out the plunger. Easier done than said
  12. Except mine stuck with an uncut factory spring and the hennng pin. Lost the back plate (firing pin retainer I think in tanfo speak) when it stuck during competition. It now sports the factory pin.
  13. I heard henning was trading up pins... if so might do that. The firing pin return spring is the factory one, uncut. Also a quick shout out for Last Round Armament. They have shipped out the replacement back plate already.
  14. I found a high-ish primer that wouldn't go down even on the single stage press. Took it apart, full of powder, pushed out the primer and found tumbling media holding the primer up. Would it have squib'ed? Dunno, but I think it may have. Stuff happens, you can't catch it all. Stay awake while loading, but also while shooting!
  15. The henning pin. Not the latest but what he sold 5-6 months ago. I swapped back the factory pin and the back piece from a .22 slide (ordered replacement from lra). The henning pin has a pronounced wear on the corner that the pin safety contacts. But the pin safety doesn't show much if any wear. I think (always dangerous) that the pin edge wore and slides past the safety a bit and wedges.
  16. I recall that also. 38 and 9 are interchangeable, so is 10 and40 ... using appropriate barrels.
  17. Go to a steel shoot tonight. Load and make, ready.. jam. Drop the mag, clear, rack... jamb. Look, firing pin sticking out, missing the back plate entirely. Grrrr
  18. What was the exact construction of the rounds you shot that blew up? Bullet Powder brand and grains used Overall length of finished round Do you chrono your work ups? I will start at the bottom of a published load, if uncertain I drop powder lower than listed minimum 1/2 gr. Have you done the "plunk test" with each bullet type in each of the barrels you will be shooting? Some bullet shapes don't fit well and may require a shorter COAL, and less powder to keep safe pressures. What is your exact goal? If it's just a soft shooting light recoil, going to a heavy bullet like a 147gr with a small amount of fast powder that yields 825 to 850 fps, works well IMHO. You will probably need to tune the recoil spring weight to match the power. No disrespect, but your writting leaves much to be desired. It's difficult to follow what you are meaning to say. My guess on your kaboom, is that the brass had a "glock smile", it wasn't fully sized, didn't fully seat (too long OAL, case bulge?) And it fired blowing out the case. Probably because it was also over pressure. Do take a breather, re-read the books, re-evaluate your procedures, try again with more care starting with less powder and measure everything. Good luck and be safe!
  19. I bought 5000, have shot 1000ish with zero issues from an xdm and tanfo. I'd buy more.
  20. I did a few 9mm wo lube.... big mistake! Made up a qt of diy lanolin lube, but weaker than most list. Just used 2oz of the liquid lanolin. For pistol, there is no need for more. The effort is dramatically less making everything better. I even use it on .40 now too. Won't go back to dry humping!
  21. I hate myself for skipping this, but it beats "death by THE LOOK". Married guys know what I mean! http://www.anacortesgunshop.com/eaa-tanfo-witness-stock-ii-9mm-17rd IN STOCK AS I POST $920. If you haven't looked already, don't bother..... too slow.
  22. Like Atlas said earlier the pins taper and if too many coils are cut on the return spring the tapered section gets stuck in the hole in the breach face. Roger that.
