  1. I only shoot JHP now.. did like 8K of Speer TMJ and 2K of FMJ gas plug was caked so I ran it in the Ultrasonic for 9 hours one day and got about 25% off.. Just decided to replace it with a In Led We Trust "full open" plug and stick with JHP & N340 but moving to 3N37 now. No malfunctions but did see a increased carrier velocity when it was dirty..
  2. I see this as Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): · The butt stock is a simplification on the supply chain ( it is the same as the MCX now) · The original hand guard design was intended to cover a suppressor this is more commercial but it is still aluminum so I prefer my Lancer CF · Any trigger change is an improvement over the original · 16” barrel with a comp? I will pass I am happy with my 13.7 with MBX comps The Only issues with the gas system were people who don’t understand that the MPX is a locked breach gas piston operated system and was designed around full power ammo that falls into the 155-163 PF range out of the 13.7” barrel (premium U.S HP, NATO Spec). There are port presser relative to the powder burn rate and dwell time factors when doing ammo selection and load development for the MPX. If you are using coated or exposed lead base bullets in the MPX then expect to be doing extra (deep) cleaning of the gas system ( IME a major pain bordering on impossible without a ultra sonic tank).I did a ILWT gas plug replacement on my primary because I shot 2K of FMJ that leaded the gas plug up bad, I put it in the ultra sonic for 8 hours and barley dented the build up so I concluded it was easier to replace it than clean it. I have 24K on my primary an 4K on my backup, my primary is the old FP/Carrier type SIG sent me the upgrade but I wanted to shoot the originals to the failure point and it is still GTG.
  3. Designed for running and gunning, best thing I have found for all conditions: https://www.galls.com/tactical-research-qrf-series-alpha-c9-hot-weather-assault-boot?PMSRCH= Or if you prefer a mid rise: https://www.galls.com/tactical-research-qrf-series-delta-c6-mid-cut-approach-boot?PMSRCH=
  4. is their any penining on the carrier either front what the bolt rotates or at the rear around the firing pin?
  5. Gen 2 magazines? this is what was happening when i tried Gen 1 magazines in my carbine. Zero issues with Gen 2 mages Big +1 on lube... when I went to SIG armorer schools in the past we were told Lube should be dripping off any part that moves PF seems a bit low.. WW wight box, Speer TMJ will be 160 PF or so in the MPX (16") I feel like I get a short stroke that results in dot dip at PF below 150, guns cycle and eject brass but I can see the dot dip on bolt close. Keep in mind this is a locked breech system so: powder burn rate peak presser dwell time are factors that must be considered and IMO are more important than port size. The fast powders used for blowback system PCC's and Production pistols are not what a MPX needs.
  6. When I started there were no divisions .. everything was heads up.. always kept something around for open after they created Limited.. dropped out of Limited 2 years ago when vision started to go down hill .. only do Open and PCC now..
  7. That looks like it weighs a ton compared to the CMR-206 https://www.amazon.com/Pinty-Hunting-Rifle-Adjustable-Mounts/dp/B019Q05CNY Crimson Trace gives you a free battery every year.. My CMR-206's were $143 on sale with $50 rebate so $93ea.. US manufactured and meets US laser safety standards, I was a Laser Safety Officer when I was on Active Duty lasers are no joke you can damage your eyes with a out of spec laser real fast and have to live with it the rest of your life.. I personally wont trust my eyesight to chinese quality control and conformance to US Safety standards to save a buck...
  8. Have a Crimson Trace Green CMR-206 mounted on a rail @ 12 o'clock right where my thumb rests in my grip for the last 12 mounths. Good for awkward leans or quick shots. Visible in bright daylight out to about 10 yards depending on target & background the lower the light levels ( clouds, overcast, indoors...) the farther it is visible. BZO @ 3 yards about 1.5" low @ 7-10 yards anything farther than that i will use the primary optic.
  9. 2011 Mag was designed around .38 super in a double stack, in the 27 years I have been running them in all calibers I have found that you can start having issues with rounds loaded past 1.240". This is vary dependant on the bullet shape, example in .45 had 6 magazines that wouldn't feed 230gr RN or JHP ( OAL 1.263") but ran 185 gr FMJ( OAL) 1.230" .
  10. I invest the 5-7 hours ( match + drive time), the gas ( as much as 3/4 of a tank 2 x per mounth) the $15-$20 ln match fees and the $25 in ammo for a local match (7 per mounth) ... I consider a backup as a requirement, to much invested to not finish a match..
  11. I just look at the trigger as a consumable, the price you pay for a nice clean break. I got about a year out of my B-GRF ( 10,000 rounds). I replaced it with a SD3G that in approaching a year and 15,000 rounds however it is not showing any signs of abnormal wear yet.
  12. Not 100% sure.... but the starting load from Vit for 3N38 on a 147 gr 9mm is 6.3gr @ 1171fps (172.137 PF).... ,45 6.9 368 1207
  13. They sent me the compleat upgraded carrier / firing pin (with spring) assembly to upgrade my #1 gun..it is sitting as a spare, I will shoot the original till it breaks. Loung lead times on replacement parts is why I have 2 MPX's. Primary and backup that is always how I have approached any division (Open, Limited...).I am not interested in trying to fix something on the range or not finish a match because I can't fix a problem.
  14. Several of the GM's around Rio salado (area 2) have been running 147gr 9 Major lately (18 months or so)...
  15. I have been using the 7.5 Delta since the original Gen1 was available. 2 are milled to the slide (2011’s) on Arredondo mounting plates. One is a Arredondo frame mount (this is so low to the slide that it must be flat topped). I sight them in POA/POI at the upper 15% of the delta at 17 yds. All shots closer are within the delta so no offset or hold over’s just don’t put the delta on the NS or black. this also puts the POI in to the 6 o'clock tip of the delta situation at around 23 yds. The delta works for me I would not ever consider a change to a 2.5 MOA dot on an Open Pistol the #’s just don’t work for me: · Hight over bore · Velocity · 2.5MOA covers .075” @ 3 yds · 17 yd BZO for POA / POI
  16. Yes, a bit brighter than the EoTech way less pixelated .
  17. I ran an EXPS2 T dot For a year on one of mine. I have transitioned over to the Vortex UH-1 on both my primary and back up it has a less pixelated / clearer retical with the same field of view, hologram based reticle (allows for off center head position) and speed of the circle dot. I keep the EXPS2 T dot teamed with a 3X magnifier for PCC only matches that have distance shots past 100 YD's as the 2nd Dot ( 600 yd for 5.56mm) is my 200 yd hold over reference point, something the UH-1 does not have in its retical.
  18. 1. weak hand to mag well 2. strong hand off grip , slide stock to weak shoulder with weakhand while strong hand transitions to handguard 3 once stock is in shoulder and strong hand is on handguard. weak hand transitions to grip
  19. example not exact numbers: 12 LB Standard is just that compresses at 12LB, stores 12LB and decompress at 12LB. 12 Variable starts compression at 8LB builds to 12LB, stores 12LB, initial decompression at 12LB reducing back to the 8LB at finial lock up.
  20. Huge difference between Standard (straight wound) and Variable recoil springs..
  21. I don't really have "Customers" I have friends that I will do work for that wont let anyone else touch their guns.. it is a feel thing, the Ti parts feel faster and feel like the let off is crisper... We are talking under $30 in parts even at Retail ( Ti hammer strut and Mainspring cap) , so I just don't see why you would choose to use steel instead given the small cost of those 2 parts compared to the rest of the Fire Control system ( Hammer, sear, disconnect, thumb safety).. I have seen a downturn in quality in the last 6 years with some brands of parts so I won't work with anything but SV ( QBX Hammers, sear and disconnect). I prefer the EGW XL Ti strut, but can use the STI if i have to ( caps are a non issue bout EGW and STI are GTG)
  22. I have Used a 17LB main spring Ti Hammer struts, Ti Main spring cap and a XL steel firing pin with steel Ti and Magnesium trigger bows in all my builds for 25+ years.... the 2 Ti parts need to be replaced for wear after 500,000 rounds or so
  23. With minimal effort i showed the same issue with HHF's in several divisions Limited, Open ,Production... Scores 103-127% above the current HHF's this is not just a PCC issue..On all of my 100% PCC classifiers their were also Open Limited and Production shooters in that match that far exceeded the 100% just like I did with the PCC... i Just dont get the "lets single out PCC attitude"
