  1. Wow.... Good luck with that. :|I think you are failing to understand the 2011 platform - as designed - was intended for ammo longer than the SAMMI standard for .40 S&W. You can accept that, move forward, load according and be happy. :Dor continue to try an bend it to your will...and be frustrated. Your call. This a 1911 was desined to handle 1.260 " OAL the 2011 follows that. The 2011 inside magazine deminsion tolerance for OAL can vary depending on the bullet profile a good rule is that anything over 1.240" OAL may start dragging inside the tube... Meaning we are already running short OAL from the desined OAL to work in the Magazines...i have used 1.225" as my OAL in a 2011 since 1995 (.40. & .38SC)
  2. If you look at the pics, the classic doesn't have holes milled into the slide. yeah i think this is IPSC approved, its just a different style of serations. Every one understands they are not holes that go all the way through.. the question becomes, is that complex panel with the indents ( that would be Holes on a Limited slide) a " serration" or " slide lightening"... and what will NROI rule them as.
  3. Last year’s DVC Open and Limited seemed to be a good step toward updating STI’s products with the most popular custom features used within USPSA and 3Gun. The new stuff this year just seems to fall a little short: DVC 3-Gun: · Why no .40 S&W Option? The DVC “Limited” was available in 9MM to support the 3 Gun market. I don’t understand why the DVC 3-Gun isn’t available in.40 S&W. I would argue that a 5.4” configuration is more popular in Limited than in 3 Gun. HexTactical (2011): · Why no .40 S&W Option? I have the Flat Dark Earth limited addition from last year and love the hex serrations and tri top slide. I think the slide weight is better on this model than the DVC Limited. When I found out this was transitioning to regular production I was hoping for: o 40 S&W o 5.4” and 6” versions HexTactical (1911): · Why no .40 S&W Option? Again, I think the slide weight is better on this model than the DVC Limited and think this would be a better single stack gun than the DVC Classic. Keep the 5.4” barrel. DVC Classic: · No real issues I just question the legality of the DVC Panel cut in place of the front serrations, understanding that they don’t have the holes all the way through. Again, I think the slide weight is better on the hex serrations and tri top slide. Costa Carry Comp: · No real issues I just see some missed opportunities for expanded marketability: o 3 Gun Stealth Division, Add milled in Mini Red Dot ( Delta Point , RMR) and a popple hole on the rib in place of the front sight and this would be perfect for that division, or Open (3 gun) with bigger magazines for that matter
  4. No N350 is slower than 3N37 Correct plus you will see a presser increase in higher ambient temps with 3N37. if you understand the issues in can be a workable 9 Major powder.
  5. I had 2 J/ Pro Points on my open pistols slide mounted from 1997 -2009 and sent one back to tasco for repairs ( Loose lens) the first year. Since 2009 the pistols have had delta points on them and I have sent one back for repair (intermittent shut off due to a fault in the motion sensor) however that was after 6 years of use on an open gun. I have seen RTS2's go back 3 times in one year on fellow shooters guns and they are not even slide mounted.
  6. common Glock problem with a tactical light attached has been an issue since they added the tactical rail to the frame...
  7. Jpoint and Delta point( non pro) are the exact same mounting.
  8. When they were popular in the early 1990's in open and limited at Major PF a lot more than slide stops were issues: Hammers Sear Sear cages Slides Frames Thumb safety Rear sights Scopes Scope mounts Comps Barrels were all parts you needed as spares in your range bag along with your back up gun. not unusual to brake one gun switch to the backup brake it and do a field repair to finish a level 1 match week in and week out. I think i still have a cracked P9 frame in the back of safe, moved all the parts ( Open and Limited setup's) to a EAA match frame and sold it to fund my first 2011 build in September 1994....
  9. Good luck with that... none to be had just laying around as " new-old-stock" for the last 18 months, I have found 2 from individuals in the last 18 months.
  10. rThe Performance Cetnter CORE would be legal with a non ported barrel. I heard Smith is considering offering a two barrel option. When the approval paper work gets done it should be OK. I emailed my DOD programs contact the DNROI the required papers last week as of 8/28/15 the internal process @ S&W has been started for the Performance Center Ported guns, but: "Things move slowly at S&W so don’t ask me when" I had suggested the addition of the non ported Match barrel as a nice all around competition package ( 3 Gun Open , 3gun Stealth, CO, Production, ect..) the day after CO was approved.
  11. Mine shipped this morning... should be hear by Thursday.
  12. Wideners has VV: N310 -1&4LB N320 -1LB 3N37 -1&4LB N340 -1&4LB N350 -4LB
  13. Most who talk bad about the S&B Shortdot 1.1-4 CQB have never actually used it due to the cost factor. I have used: Leopold MK6 1-6 (1st FP) Leopold MK4 MR 1.5-5 (2nd FP) Trijicon VCOG 1-6 (1st FP) Trijicon ACOG TAO1 NSN Trijicon ACOG TA11 F Trijicon TR24 1-4 (2nd FP) Trijicon TR21 1.25-4(2nd FP) EOTEC with 3X magnifier Comp M4 with 3X magnifier I still prefer the S&B Shortdot over everything else, I prefer the gen 1 non locking turrets as it is easier to move the illumination switch the half position that shuts the dot off when going from 1-4 as part of that transition. There is a lot of flexibility in a Shortdot if you know how to use the BDC dials and not just the Mils in the reticle. Examples: · Dialing up to 650 M on your BDC puts you POA, POI on in your face CQB distances · Dialing up to 400 M on your BDC for a 400M long shot in the end of a stage reduces your POA, POI offset by 75% on in your face CQB distances
  14. Wrong on both. The "optics ready non-ported" model, correctly identified as a CORE, is in the "Pro" series, it is not and has never been a Performance Center model. All Performance Center M&Ps are ported. As for the porting, there is a provision specifically allowing ported slide models to be used when the barrel is replaced with a unported one. The porting itself does NOT make the gun ineligible for USPSA Production. You can't say something like that and not back it up. At least quote the paragraph so everyone can reference what you are saying. Appendix D4 21.6 Externally-visible parts from “custom shop” guns will only be considered “OFM parts” if the custom-shop gun is on the NROI list of approved Production guns. Therefore unless you can show me where it says you can put a non-ported barrel in an unapproved ported gun and have it be legal for production I'm going to have to stick with no it can't be done Neither the performance center ported models nor the CORE with the "Pro" series engraving is currently on the Production list, the confusion comes from the special note give to the Glock "C" models. currently only the standard CORE’s are on the Production list.
  15. Optics on carry/ tacital pistols is not a new thing...USPSA is behind on this one not out in front..discussion in the rules section on this sight.
  16. The last thing we need is another low capacity division 4 of the current 6 are already ...the federal ban went away 11 years ago.
  17. Production opits was presented and voted down due to production Shooters complaining to the BOD that they didn't want it... 12 months later we have CO ... IMO the intent is to evolve this in to something that is new and different then all other Divisions....
  18. I would prefer to also continue excluding mag-wells personallyEric Extended 141.25mm mags with no mag well? IMO would be fugley ....
  19. Production: holster and mag positions Action type (SA Excluded) Minor Limited: Grip modifications Slide machining Open: Optic ( slide mounted only) Excluded mods: Comps Barrel ports Slide Rackers Thumb rest Unique to CO: 141.25MM MAG limit + minor = 23+1( I think mag wells should be allowed also) Readily available in the market base gun ( in a few years stand alone gunsmith frames may need to be addressed if they appear) Optic required to play
  20. No, I think it would barrow elements from Limited, Open and Production and create a rule set that reflects what is actually being used and be a blast to shoot. Remember we are behind on this one not out in front; this class of guns already exists and is in use, they are a mixture of full customs and customized factory offerings. Most existing in use guns (as in 98%) are excluded by our current extremity restrictive rule set.
  21. I do not agree with either the current 10 round limit or the proposed 15 round limit. · 10 round limit, The federal AWB went away 11 years ago you already have 3 round limited divisions (Production, L10 & SS) don’t need a 4th · 15 round limit, not compatible with our 8 shots from a location, stages will need to be shot just like a 10 round limit or be 1round short of doing 2 positions after the 2nd position · Load to factory capacity no extended bas pads allowed, will result in the gun with the highest factory capacity having a small advantage and may over time be the only platform to use ( Limited & the 2011), our 8 shots from a location will mitigate this somewhat as anything over 16+1 is insurance for a makeup shot. stages will be shot the same as limited I believe we have the answer in the provisional rules, Mag length is 141.25MM if we just default to this all the guns will be capacity leveled out at 23+1. This will mix things up a bit in stage planning with a capacity not currently common to any other Division. Additionally it is a base pad change to go back to factory capacity if you needed to for some reason. So what I would like to see change: · Weight limit removed · Move to the 141.25MM mags loaded to capacity (23+1) · Drop the certification by the manufacture process, anyone with a computer can do a search in 2 minutes and see if a gun is “ readily available” for purchase. NROI should just do this on any “New” offering based on a member request and add it to the list. Example the S&W Performance Center Ported is a standard production frame with a trigger over travel stop threaded in so why do we as individual USPSA shooters have to fight the giant corporate maze of S&W for years to get a "Certification" for NROI · Clean up the “special notes” if Glock gets a pass on their slide holes on the “C” models with a non-ported barrel swap then so should any and all other manufactures. Example the S&W Performance Center Ported is a standard production slid with the ports milled prior to final finish, just like the Glock “C” series · Expand the grip stippling/ tape area to include the common areas currently excluded: o Front strap to trigger guard radius o Underside and front of trigger guard o Thumb pad / index points along the frame above the trigger and below the slide
  22. I concur, we need to see the numbers.
  23. I plan to start shooting CO after the High Desert Classic ends. I am hoping some additional guns get listed: · S&W Performance Center Ported CORE with a non-ported barrel note · Glock MOS In my area, the exclusionary rule set is a major roadblock to participation. In our group of 25-50 shooters there are at least 10 optics equipped Carry Pistols in our group and none, zero are CO legal under the current exclusionary rule set most are over stippled, over machined or not yet listed. I am committed to shooting this in the provisional period and pushing for the rules to be opened up to reflect the pre-existing class of pistols already in use by shooters as EDC pistols before the train wreck of an exclusionary rule set the BOD passed. For all the “haters” of CO I want to know how many of you: · Joined USPSA 1990 or before · Since 1990 have NEVER shot any of the new divisions ( Limited, L10, SS, Revolver , Production) · Hold no classification in any division except Open Unless all of the points above are true you have no right to judge or hate on a new or provisional division. Because guess what if those of us that have been here since 1990 had your attitude their would still be just one division.
  24. I think we should go with the factory magazine limitations, replacement base pads that don't add capacity allowed.that will mix it up with some of the lighter guns at 17+1 and the heavy guns at 15+1, bring back some freestyle. I hate the load limits in SS, and production. Back in the 90's we had a GM in my local club that kicked all the 2011 wide body's butts with his SS .45 OPEN gun on a perty regular basis.. You don't need arbitrary load limits if you have well designed stages ( targets available from muitapal positions+ Lots of movement )
