  1. If you are seeing your sights, then get a steel target and a full mag and start shooting it, increasing your speed until you start to miss. Figure out what you are or arent seeing. Find your limit and working on pushing that. The audible feedback will instantly let you know what you need to know. I think this is more helpful than pairs, since you can get into a timing routine with pairs that will fall apart when you end up on a stage with 3 shots per target. The steel helped me, and I'd like to revisit this drill next time I'm at the range.
  2. I'd just use the stock spring. My trigger started to feel mushy when I lowered the hammer spring rate. It felt great when I put the original back in. It is such a light trigger already, I don't think there is anything to gain by messing with it.
  3. I think an M&P 2.0 would be a sweet production gun with a new trigger, springs and handloads. I would have gone that route if the production trigger ruling had come out a few months earlier. There is no way I'd shoot a stock 40 with factory ammo in production though.
  4. Handle a 2011 and a CZ TS. Whichever one feels better to you ergonomically, go with that. I went from a g35 to a cz ts, and my grip was able to stay pretty much the same, except for the grip angle. If you like the TS, you can always get a czechmate for open. 5. I don't think there is even holster attachments available now that could push your gun out that far. But I'm glad that my DOH holster hanger is no longer leaving me dangerously close to the limit. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  6. I think that match had me erring too much on the side of shooting conservative. As in, maybe a couple more mike's would have been ok if my times were consistently shorter. I made up an arbitrary limit on penalties for myself before the match, which may have been dumb. You seemed dailed back a bit as well during the match (to my eye). I'm wondering, if you could shoot the match over again would you push differently or do you think you shot the match with the right balance? Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  7. I lose time leaving positions as well, and I know it's because I am standing tall every time. I bet I could drop my stage times by 5% if I would just fix this. Its low hanging fruit. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  8. Incorporate into your stage plan dropping your mag before your last shot. Problem solved! Then you can keep on shooting ammo loaded wrong for your gun. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  9. Maybe not on this forum and particular, but generally speaking I see these kind of claims often as well. I used to think, man I must really suck at shooting. Now I just think they are all liars. It's the same as all the claims I've read of people shooting rifles with Iron sights, shooting 1" groups at 100 yd or 2" groups at 200 yds. Yeah right. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  10. I'll bet that you are breaking your second shot on the targets before you really are seeing your sights. You need to see a sight picture for both shots, or you will get LOTS of mikes and no shoots. Rush the time between targets and shooting positions, but do not rush the shooting.
  11. Shoot it like you normally shoot. Don't try extra hard, thinking its an extra important match. Anything that gets in your head or pulls you out of shooting your normal style is going to hurt your score.
  12. Stage 3, I ran and dropped the bag on the activator, then shot the whole thing freestyle. That stage was awesome in that I think I saw 4 different ways of shooting that stage among my squad, all from guys who are Very good at stage planning. How often do you see that?
  13. If I get you right, you would like all divisions to compete against each other, and minor divisions and lesser capacity divisions would each get a specific handicap. I personally would love to be able to compare my score in a meaningful way with a buddy's score who is shooting another division. But, what are the chances of them getting the handicap right, and even if it were right, how many people would actually believe it was right? That's all people would talk about on the forums from then on out. Still, the idea has its merits. It would be cool to suddenly find out that the lone weirdo L10 shooter at your local club is actually one of the best shooters in the region, because his score can now be compared directly with everyone else's. [still not gonna happen though] How about for now, the handicap gets figured out and USPSA starts posting Overall scores? Then HOA will mean something to more than just the Open shooters.
  14. A class win is meaningless, unless it means you get to take home a cool new toy at a match with a prize table. The dividing lines between the classes are arbitrary. A 1st C class trophy is like getting an award for earning the highest C grade on a college exam. What exactly are you celebrating? The only comparison that matters is where you stand vs. the winner, or in this case, 100%. Not that this thread was serious in the first place...
  15. SS is pretty dead because so few people want to compete with one. It's sentimentality that says" We need to do something about this!". People vote with their feet, or in this case, their choice of pistol to bring to a match. It's not like everyone is thinking "I'd love to shoot SS, if only more people thought like I do". So, let the numbers dwindle or grow as people choose. I do however think it would be neat to have a Production major option, limited to 8 rounds, so that truly any gun could be shot in production. I don't see how that would hurt the division, except that classifiers might favor major PF.
  16. This is what I was talking about, the twist to the spring. I got through day 1 of A3 with no malfunctions, with my gun at least. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  17. Ok, I just got back from the range. Bending the springs to look just like the picture posted above got one of the 3 magazines working fine. The other 2 were doing the same old thing. So, took part of Vinh's advice and I twisted the top leg of the spring in a way that kept the angle in the picture, but tilted down the follower so that high side of the follower (lengthwise if the follower was sitting alone on a table) was sitting lower, since that is the side that is getting up above the feed lips. After doing that I put it each mag through the paces and no more lockups. What a relief.
  18. Okay, I bent the 3 mag springs like the picture in EERW's post above, and I'm heading to the range now. I'll let you know how it goes!
  19. Fantastic, thanks for the picture! Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  20. Great info guys! I can't thank you all enough.
  21. The old springs are in a landfill now, unfortunately. I put these springs in a couple weeks ago and today was my first time out for live fire. Seems like the followers must be sticking up differently now so the slide catches on them.
  22. Hi- This weekend is Area 3 and I went and did something stupid (changing something before a big match). I put in new mag springs in my 3 oldest TS mags, and I just went to the range to practice and found that I now have an issue that I didn't before. Now, with those 3 mags, after the last round the slide locks back on the follower itself, making it so I have to rip the mag out with my weak hand. Fortunately my other 2 mags can become #1 and #2 for the match, but I'm not sure what to do to fix this problem with the other 3. Any ideas?
  23. My TS mags rust on the outside. I need to hit them with fine steel wool and some oil every once in a while. It would be a big problem if I didn't live in such a dry environment.
  24. Did you change bullet profile recently? I had a non-cz pistol that certain bullet profiles would hit that part and lock the slide back.
  25. Maybe it's me, maybe it's my phone, but when I try to download the match book from the website I get last year's match book (2017). I'm shooting this as my 1st area match and I'd like to not show up clueless! Can someone provide the correct link? Huge thanks in advance! Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
