  1. Glock mags aren't necessarily flawless perfection after you add the mag extensions. I had issues when I shot a glock in Limited. And, the plastic coating can make them slow to drop free. I think what you really want is for a company like Mecgar to make 2011 mags. My mecgar mags for various guns have all run 100% flawless, always. I'm betting Mecgar would be making 140mm 2011 mags already if their market research didn't show them it would be a bad investment. Can you imagine a $25 2011 mag that runs as reliably as the CZ 17 rounds mags? They could have one developed in a week I bet.
  2. What is the width of the notch on the TSO factory rear sight? I might want to buy someone's takeoff. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  3. If you were shooting major the brass magwell weight might be helpful, but with minor its already super tame. Aluminum should give you all the function you need. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  4. The SPS Vista would come in under 2k. I love underdog equipment, so if I was on an extreme budget and wanted try open, I'd think hard about one of these or a used cz checkmate. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  5. The new trigger arrived today and I just got it installed. I really like it! It moves the trigger forward about 1/8", depending on how you measure. The factory plastic trigger didn't need loctite on the set screws, this one will. It doesn't flex like the plastic factory trigger. I consider this money well spent. I also replaced the factory trigger pin with the cz custom pin, and put in a new trigger return spring. In the disassembly I finally saw what people are talking about when they say titegroup is dirty. The factory trigger's insides were so gummed up with black mud that the spring wasn't able to do its job well. Now I can feel the reset much better. I'll keep using titegroup, but I'm going to be spraying down my guns with brake cleaner every couple months now. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  6. What is the width of the notch on the TSO Factory supplied rear sight? I have the CZ Custom adjustable rear sight on my tactical Sport and I love it, but I opened up the rear notch to .135 (from .120) when I should have just bought a narrower front sight. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  7. As soon as it arrives, I'll post pics with measurements Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  8. It wouldn't be good for someone with smaller hands. But I have xl/xxl hands and this will be great for me. It would also help someone with L hands make a single action 75b or sp01 more comfortable. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  9. For years I've been wanting an extended reach "Big Hands" trigger for my CZ TS, but no one carries them in the states and it was going to be absolutely outrageous to try and get it bought and shipped directly from Europe. I talk to Milos at ArmoryCraft and he ordered one special for me, but his supplier sent 7 extra. The rest are for sale on his site. I know a lot of people are not aware of these since they aren't really sold in the states, but this can be a huge Improvement to the ergonomics of your pistol if your trigger reach is too short. I can't wait to get this installed. My new position of my trigger finger will be much more relaxed. I'll post before & after pics. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  10. I'm working on similar stuff- If you are slow to get moving out of position, then you are probably like me and not low enough while shooting. You have to kind of tip forward slowly in order to get going if you standing tall. A drop step can help but its way better to just start shooting low like a tennis player waiting for a return. Dang its a hard habit to break, the whole slowly-straightening-the-legs thing as I finish out an array. I actually do run between positions but I want to do it faster. I currently run with the pistol high and flat like I'm trying not to spill a glass of water. You can only run so fast like that. If I want to run at my actual top speed, I'm going to need to start pumping BOTH arms, like you see our top guys doing. That's going to take some practice to avoid an actual or perceived 180 dq. If you are going to learn to run with the gun, learn to do it the best & fastest way.
  11. Aha, thank you. So, until there is a bombproof lightweight optic, there is no switching between limited major and open major with just swapping an upper. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  12. Dumb question here. If I were to build an open top end for my cz ts limited gun, what would be the disadvantage of a slide mounted optic, vs the typical setup? Seems like the dot movement would start and stop at the same time for both, and the dot would jump relative to your muzzle rise for both. Kinda like a standard front sight vs an island barrel. Yet it's clear that open shooters prefer one setup over the other. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  13. Stoked to see limited nationals in Utah! With it being this close to Colorado, I'll have to make it my first trip to nationals. And, I'll be right at home in the desert climate. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  14. Sarge, would you send me that info as well? I grew up in Cincy and my mom lives in Lebanon. I don't make it back to Ohio often but I think it would great to shoot a match if the timing worked out. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  15. The factory rubber grips that your gun came with, with jb weld & 60 grit silicon carbide applied, will be the most comfortable and the grippiest. In my opinion. It's not as fun as spending $$$$ on something that looks cool, but if you just want ergonomics and performance, I think that's the ticket. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  16. I'm going to assume that was sarcasm, disregard if not. If you want to get more people to take the class, you'll have more success making it an easier commitment than you will trying to convince people with real jobs and families that a whole weekend is "no big deal". Especially when there are ways to impart the info in a more effective way. The info in the class is great, and the people teaching these classes are experts. But 8 hours of teaching in a day is just too much to for the vast vast majority of people to digest. After 5 hours its wasted on probably most people. I really think an online course, with a single day in-class finisher would be more effective and draw in more people. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  17. I recently took the RO class after shooting our sport for about 4 years. Taking the class is a big commitment, like the entire weekend. We could make it less of a commitment by incorporating video. When I took my hunters safety course, I did most of it online and then finished the course in a classroom setting that also included live fire. I think having more ROs would be more helpful than the same number of better trained ROs. We could have more ROs by streamlining the course and having a lot of the prep be online. The online portion of my hunters safety course could not have been skipped through and passed. We could emulate that easily. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  18. I really don't want to hijack your thread here- I shoot limited with a TS and one day I'll probably shoot open with a CZ set up identically. I was just curious about an issue I was mistaken about. Never mind, carry on... Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  19. I'm sorry, I've always understood open guns as being difficult to get running and hard to build, perhaps mistakenly. So, I took your thread as a discussion about addressing these hurdles. I was asking for a dumbed-down explanation of why open pistols are so difficult to make run reliably. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  20. I guess I just assumed that was a common understanding. Based on the cost and reliability issues I've seen with open guns. It must have more to do with the 2011 platform than the dot and comp. You know what they say about assumptions... I guess when you add electronics and really long mags, you have more opportunities for something to go wrong. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  21. Since this is an open build theory, can someone explain something very basic... If a 9mm pistol's barrel and frame can handle major PF, then why is it more complicated than throwing a comp on the threaded barrel, & finding a mount for the dot? I know open guns are finicky, but I have never truly understood why. (Especially with open Glocks.) Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  22. This thread makes me curious to see what a *thumb rest [generic]* on my TS would be like. I am on the right side of the spectrum when it comes to recoil control, but I wonder if the *thumb rest [generic]* might give a little help and a tactile reminder for the times I'm forgetting to hold on tight. I don't think they are necessary at all with a good grip, but my match videos show that my grip pressure is inconsistent throughout a stage.
  23. Good call. I use coated bullets and titegroup. On mine I have never ever had a fail to feed that wasn't due to a case being way out of spec. You will likely find your TS to be boring reliable. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  24. I would ditch the SWC for the typical flat point profile most other people are shooting. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  25. This is what I do. If you are squared up to a target, who cares which eye you bring to the sights. I think this topic gets way overthought. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
