  1. How does it do for precision rifle? I load .223 on the single stage with Forster dies and get amazing results with it, but after reading about guys doing their case prep on a separate tool head I like the idea of it. I just don't know if I shoot enough volume of that to make it worth the swap.
  2. I looked on SI and didn't see them. What am I missing?
  3. In the side of my range bag (Midway USA). I have a couple of the CED mag pouches for guns I don't shoot as often, when I want to shoot the gun I grab the sleeve and throw it in the range bag.
  4. I am slowly replacing my Dawsons with TTI's. The front sight on the TTI is had to beat for a FO front.
  5. All of my steel is from arntzen, I have a couple of 2/3 IPSC and 6 8" plates. If I only take one target for handgun shooting it would be a IPSC, but for .22's or rifles an 8" plate on a shepherds hook is really easy to carry around. Im not sure where my buddy got his steel, but it hangs on a t post and the acoustics are terrible.
  6. I have a really hard time picking up green. I am borderline color blind so that might play into it, but red is much easier to pick up.
  7. Go to a bike shop and look for a handle bar mounted mirror. You should be able to modify the attachment for the added diameter of the case feeder tube.
  8. I started with a 650 and have no regrets with the decision. My buddy has a 550 and after playing with that and comparing the two I think the case feeder alone is worth it.
  9. After spending countless hours reading on this forum I decided to pick up a Dillon 650. It sat in its box for almost 3 painful months while my wife and I were house shopping, and this last weekend it finally made it out of the box and into the new reloading room! I just wanted to say a huge thank you for everyone sharing their opinions and experiences on this board! I spent the first year and a half of my reloading on a RCBS single stage this machine is awesome. Set up only took a couple of hours (I took my time to enjoy the process, it could be done much faster) and loading has been pure bliss. I had two screw ups so far, one failing to seat the primer and another forgetting to prime altogether. I put too much brass in the case feeder which provided enough distraction to mess up the primers until I had enough sense to take out a couple of handfuls and let it spin appropriately. Now I just need more components, because after using the single stage this is addicting!
  10. Although I have only a small amount of primers under the bench I appreciate the information on taking it to the scrap yard! I need to reload more!
  11. I put a 3.5# connecter in my carry glocks, but I am very hesitant to lighten the striker spring. My 34 with a Vanek trigger and a 4.5# striker spring does not like CCI primers, but works perfectly fine with Federal and Winchester. For me this is no big deal in a range/match gun but if my life is on the line I will stick with factory springs and not worry about light primer strikes.
  12. Interesting idea with the box. Right now all of the steel goes into a heavy duty plastic storage bin. I will have to take a picture next time I go to the range so you all can admire the tetris game that is range day.
  13. Sounds like a sweet set up. How do you like the basepads?
  14. Sorry to hear about the truck, I hope you can replenish the toy fund soon. I will go against the grain here and suggest something wild. Marlin 39a or similar lever action and have the barrel threaded. It will be plenty accurate for any shooting you want, and you can be like a John Wayne silent ninja! I don't have a can yet, but if I am just going out to put a smile on my face the Marlin 39a comes out of the safe.
  15. What an ending to one of my favorite shows on television in recent years. That scene on the road was just perfect!
  16. Gun: Glock 34, Vanek Classic trigger, TTI Sights. Belt: DAA Holster: Ready Tactical DOH, 4 of their mag holders Timer: DAA shotmaxx
  17. When my wife and I started dating she referred to me as "murse" to all of her friends and family (I am a nurse, she was a student nurse at the time). Then three years ago the Air Force decided to let me play in the back of planes and gave me a shiny set of wings, so now I am a flight murse. P.S. Nothing to do with male purses
  18. I might just have to pick up 43 then. If I end up liking it more I could sell the Kahr and make money on the swap.
  19. I like the idea of rollers, but I would assume it needs to be really hot outside for it to dry quick enough.
  20. Thanks for the input so far. My 5.56 AR is a Rainier Arms RUC, 14.5" Mid-length with 12" rail, Aimpoint micro on top. My vision is still pretty good, no problems with irons or the red dot, but I like the idea of a low power variable with a reticle to use on longer shots.
  21. Sorry if I wasn't more clear in my first post. I don't actually compete in 3-gun at the moment. I just want something fun to play with at the range. In order to shoot at my steel targets I looked into building a 9mm AR, but the cost of doing so was a little high for just a range toy. I ended up getting a really great deal on this one, so I hope the 5k .22lr I have on hand will hold me over until it becomes easier to obtain. I think I will stick with a rail and optics at this point, but debating on a red dot vs a 1-4. Religious Shooter, may I ask what 1-4 you are using?
  22. But shooting steel is way more fun than cardboard. I take a couple of cardboard USPSA targets but the steel is just way cooler to shoot.
  23. Not only are the cases brilliant, but excellent taste in firearms sir! I will have to try this in the future.
  24. Good luck setting up the press! I have had my 650 sitting in the box taunting me for the last two months. I didn't want to set it up right before a move, and we closed on our house last week. Now I get to finally set it up and start making some ammo! I swear every time I walked past the box it called out my name.
