  1. Ben, when you shoot down zero as much as you do, you don't have to add anything!
  2. Senario based stages Scoring Use of cover Just shoot it like "this" and do it faster and more accurately than the next guy The emphasis on accuracy The people
  3. Attorney time. Good luck to you, that's some serious BS. Ever hear of a book called "Screwed"? I don't own it and I have never read it. But it is about how to get back at people. If this happened to me, I might become a poster child for the book.
  4. I work nights and usually go to bed about 4:30 to 5 am. The matches are on the weekends and registration starts around 8:00 am. If I didn't drink coffee, I wouldn't shoot. I just want all of you to know, that if we ever start afternoon matches, I am going to finally be awake enough to shoot better. Rick
  5. Congrats North. You made it! You have to feel good about that.
  6. Super cool! Congrats, that is one big milestone. You have every right to be extremely proud. Rick
  7. I've been a happy McAfee user for a couple of years now. I use to run Norton, but like the McAfee interface better. I installed the 22006 version a couple of months ago and everything has been seemless. Just recently I run the program in addition to my scheduled times (I know that I should just change my scheduled times to more frequently) and the program gets to a point where it just doesn't move forward. If you are familiar with the program it has a magnifying glass that moves over a piece of paper like it is looking for something. This icon is still animated but the program won't advance. Right now it has been on file 69,596 for over an hour and won't progress. The list of detected files has 4 entries of potentially unwanted files but no viruses. What do you think, just wait until McAfee updates the dat files in a couple of days and see if it will run or do I have some type of problem that I should move on? Thanks, Rick
  8. That's very tough business Chills. I run a German Shorthaired Pointer. He has been a great field dog, but these days at 12 he is a great 70 pound lap dog. My dog, Fritz, has a couple of soft fatty tissue deposits. They concerned me until the vet told me that as long as they are soft and moveable they they shouldn't cause him too many problems. I grew up with animals, (No, not the brothers - the pets) and they have always been a big part of my life. I know that the day is coming and I dread it. Take lots of pictures.
  9. Boo, I read your recent post all the while going "damn, this guy has got the IPSC bug". I'm smiling with you. This is a good thing.
  10. Congrats Rika! Don't let her pass Brian, you get what you deserve in life and she deserves this one. Rick
  11. This is for the US ONLY. http://www.uspsa.org/members/ Click on Classifiers by State and it gives the total of shooters in the database as 14,049. Tried to find similar info on the IPSC link but was unable to. Rick

    Deer

To the Rocket crew, sorry that happened to you guys. It's really amazing the amount of damage that a single deer can do. Glad that everyone is OK. Rick

  14. Aero, click on the picture from the nationals a few posts up. Looks like everyone is just sitting and shooting. I will be shooting this one in Rockford in January too. Doesn't look like kneeling would be in your best interest. Rick
  15. "I wont discuss the modern most effective techniques used and taught today..." You tease, you! Don't want to share
  16. Congrats on your new position Ron. Clubs need new blood that are excited about being there.
  17. Loves2Shoot, this is one for you: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-RANDALL-MADE-KNIVE...1QQcmdZViewItem Let's buy a pair of these. You pay for both of them and I will take one Seriously, serious steel indeed. Rick
  18. If we get into the higher dollar blades, I like Busse combat: http://www.bussecombat.com/home/ Randalls are nice pieces of steel though. Rick
  19. Thanks David, sometimes I probably read too many of the posts on this forum and not enough of the local newspaper. If I am obcessive about shooting I am probably in the right place though. I've never been afraid to ask the dumb question. You don't know, what you don't know. Thanks again, Rick
  20. OK let the uninformed in on the punch line. I am not familiar with the person in question. I take it that there is more to the story. I would love it if the person in the picture was a big anti-gun person and had no one to play with on the playground. Rick
  21. 11.47 HF - Smoking Kath, just blazing. Congrats. It's nice when it all comes together. Rick
  22. My name is Rick and I am a cross over shooter. I find myself defending IDPA at USPSA matches and USPSA at IDPA matches. I am tired of all of the tactical Teds of the world though and have just started to mind my own business. I like to let my gun talk for me lately. It is interesting to see people who talk the loudest sometimes come in with the lowest scores. Agian, I shoot both games and within the last week just renewed my IDPA membership. I will shoot 80% USPSA this year and a few IDPA matches before the state shoot. Off topic, I know, but I would like to shoot the new game of TSA (Tactical Shooters Association). Havent' shot a match, but from reading the rules, it seems like what I think IDPA should be. Use cover, you can drop a mag and use the same holster that you actually carry with no matter if there is light in the belt tunnel. As soon as there is a club in my area, I will be shooting these too. If there is no USPSA match and there is an IDPA match, I will be there. In my area many times I can shoot IDPA on Sat and then shoot USPSA on Sunday. The bottom line for me is working my handgun from the holster and aquiring targets and going bang. Have fun, Rick
  23. I wonder how long it will take to get a response as well. Nothing yet, but this is the weekend and there is probably no one in the office. I would think that I would have an answer within a week. If not I will be pretty disappointed. Rick
  24. A few more comments on this rule and this thread. If a game, any game has two rules that conflict with one another, I define those rules as poorly written. One such example might be the face valve conflict between comstock and round dumping. Another way to look at it is that the round dumping rule, modifies the comstock rule as in extra shots are OK except in this instance. This is for you to decide which school of thought you fall into. Having said the above, I look at this game as an excercise in solving the shooting challenge presented in the highest scoring manner. Again, I wrote HQ but have not recieved a reply, as of yet. If they reply I will forward their answer. Scooter, analysing a stage is a great way to look at total times. In your examples I am not following the math. In the first example (round dump) you add the extra split shot of .2 which I am fine with then you add another .2 for the 2nd shot on target. That 2nd shot needs to be shot whether you round dump or not. Both examples need 2 shots on target, round dump example should have a .2 extra to round dump. You will also have a transition either way so there is no difference between a round dump with the transiton to the next target and the transition without the round dump. What will be different between the two examples is the extra split and the difference between a slide lock reload and a RWR. So let's look at your example this way: Round dump: .2 for the split plus 1.5 for the reload = 1.7 No round dump: No extra split but the RWR is over 2. seconds You will have to put your own times in here, but a additional split with a slide lock reload will always be faster than a RWR. Rick
