  1. Thanks for the response Shred. All I have to say on the subject at this point is "have a great new year and shoot straight, fast and with power".
  2. Wouldn't expect anything less Steve. The first book is fantastic and I am looking forward to the next one whenever you feel it is ready. Rick
  3. Congrats Tim! So that's where you were during our Thursday night league. Ok, I guess we can overlook you missing one league night. Seriously, what a feeling to have the first born in the house. Congrats again, to you and your wife. Rick
  4. Do you do this with all calibers? I have heard of this more often with 40 cal glocked brass than anything else. Do you do this with 9mm ammo as well? Thanks
  5. Do you use the lube with carbide dies? thanks
  6. Thanks for the link Mark. We have been swapping DVDs lately and sharing some new ideas among our group. I just finished watch the Jerry Barnhart series and love it. Tonight I will get the Ron Avery 3 tape set and go through those. Learning never ends.
  7. Shred, I'm curious why you would discourage discussion of a shooting related rule change on this site? Maybe not in the "Tips for improvement" area but in a more appropriate section of the board??? I understand that these types of subjects can get heated. I like these types of discussions - that is about the rule changes and not the heated discussions. I don't like personal attacks on anyone and that should not be done on the board when posting to any thread, but discussion of a shooting related topic is why I visit the boards in the first place. Again, I'm curious as to why? Thanks for your comments in advance. Rick Rick
  8. If you tap on the case of the timer, it should set it off. Personally, I like to run with the par timer. I feel with the par times that I am just timing the movement that is required for the shooting and not some other type of movement. Try it both ways and see which way you like.
  9. Fantastic Man! It's neat to hear the pride in your voice (writtings) as I read your post. Congrats, Rick
  10. I just took delivery of 3000, 147 grain Zeros today but came into 1500 125 grainers at an extremely reasonable price (FREE). The 147 grainers are for my matches but the 125s might be going bang for practice etc. Who knows I might like the 125 grainers better. The 125s are .356. Thanks for the help guys. Rick
  11. I found this thread and was wondering the same thing. RC 1 do you have any feedback? I have a bunch of 38 or .356 bullets 125 gr JHP and am wondering about running them through my Glock. Has anyone else run .355 and .356 bullets interchangeably? What type of accuracy issues are there? Are there negative effects on the barrel from shooting the larger diameter bullets? Thanks, Rick
  12. Harm, cool training session. It's nice when a lot of work pays off and you can see some great results. Congrats. Rick
  13. Matt Burkett has a good section on grip in his videos and so does Jerry Barnhart in the Burner series. Both rotate the weak hand so if you were to open your closed fingers of your week hand in the grip the fingers would be pointing downward about 45 degrees when the gun is pointed parallel to the ground. The weak hand has good contact on the grip of the weapon while touching the other hand. The Barnhart series of DVDs has a very well done, detailed explaination of this. Rick
  14. The ones that I watched were on DVD. So yes they are.
  15. We are going to shoot this one in a couple of weeks. I haven't shot this one yet and am going off of theory and wanted to bounce some ideas off of you that have already shot it. I thought of drawing (right hander) to T7. I think that I can see it better and as S. Anderson suggests go from far to near. I just finish with the Burner series and Jerry Barnhart talks about doing your reload if at all possible going from right to left because it is easier to bring the gun down on the reload than chase the gun with the reload. So T7, T6, T5 and then T4 all from the right; reload going from right to left and then T1, T2 and finally T3. What do you think of the initial plan? Rick
  16. Phil, check the locking block. I have heard of these cracking and causing accuracy issues. At least Glocks are easy to tear down and look see what is going on in there. Rick
  17. Watched the Burner series and while somewhat redundant, Jerry Barnhart just rocks. He pounds the philosophy in on the tapes. You don't have to read between the lines because he will mention the same thing 10 times. First time that I have seen this series and I love them. I have all of Matt's DVDs except number 8 (shotgun) and consider the Burner Series right up there on the "must have list". Great stuff. Rick Rick
  18. I'll be thinking about you and your family today. Rick
  19. I haven't shot them, but am guessing that the elevation would be difficult. The human eye can center something easily. I focus on my front sight and the rear is a blur, I just get equal amounts of light on both sides of the post. Again easy for the human eye. In this design you must line up 3 different edges. The both of the rear notch much be focused to vertical sighting instead of just putting the top of the post even with both sides. Again, I would have to shoot it to see how easily it lines up, but it doesn't seem like it would work with the way the eye works as well as a notch and post.

  21. Thanks Kevin, I have been lazy and haven't weighed anything yet. That's what I was looking for - a down and dirty quick estimate - thanks! Rick
  22. Thanks Alamo for the response. Appreciate the pointer in the right direction. Rick
  23. Ok, I'm going to do it this time around; you guys convinced me to at least try. I called Angus Hobdell and bought 3000 of the 147 gr. JHP Zero bullets. I'm going to buy N320, clean is better than dirty and it comes out to about $5 / 1000 more than using Titegroup. I bought some range brass from a fellow shooter tonight. About 35 pounds of brass for a whopping $10- (He is a friend) On the primers, I am going to try the Federal Match Small Pistol primer. I won't say that I will shoot them for the whole season, but we are going to "give it a go" as they say. Thanks for the help and the words of encouragement. Rick
  24. Without counting individual cases, how many rounds of 9mm Luger are in a pound? Thanks, Rick
  25. I tended to use the FO like a bead front sight on a shotgun. Cover up what I was shooting at with the bead and pull the trigger. This is good enough for close targets. For precision shooting I like the old standard. Use the exact top, middle of the front sight. I have a Dawson FO that has never broken but so many rounds have been fired through it the FO is basically black and I don't plan on replacing the rod with something that distracts me again. Rick
