  1. The new CCI's are supposed to be more sensitive, even to indirect impact (the sales ad claims). I have some and they've been as good as the Federals I have. Actually using them in my 625PC & 325TR with 45 GAP brass for L6 with a 5 lb action and haven't had a light strike yet. But I've only fired about 2500, though several hundred have been used in matches ya know where Murphy stalks us. And they do feed well in my 1050. I just can't bring myself to trust them for serious matches yet.
  2. If you run a light action the Apex FP Spring is the lightest I've found. I've tried Factory, Apex, TK, RP and C&S and really like the C&S best with an Apex FP Spring. I've broken them all AND has several FP Springs collapse, split and fail. Doug is right about changing them. I try to put both in new at the beginning of the season and keep spares in my bag. But I do shoot a bit more than normal, put it this way my 1050 is trying to break me or me it! Now for the IRC!
  3. For the 38 i use a dillon 9mm taper crimp to .368". Plated and jacketed, without a crimping groove, have always been problems for me with pullout. I've settled on coated bullets, just as clean shooting and as accurate as plated or jacketed. Be careful, too much crimp with a jacketed bullet can collapse the case and can cut through the plating on a plated bullet. A plated bullet can even separate with too much crimp, and never solves the pullout. Welcome to the club!
  4. Good to see you're still around Doug, side note cliff even came out of hiding and shot the free state with us kicked my butt for sure even with his 6 shot, what factory cartridge uses f100m primers?
  5. My favorite rear sight is factory.196. Deepest notch out there. Midway sells a complete assembly, supposed to be in stock tomorrow, or just the blade to convert any factory.
  6. Been running new cci 500 in my 45 acp 625 with a 5# action with no problems. Will find out on feds have some f100m being delivered tomorrow, loading for the irc. Remingtons I've used haven't been close.
  7. 6 MOA is the favorite, don't get the 8 MOA Triangle DPP it's not precise enough. I have Vortex Venoms and a Viper, a JPoint, a DPP and an Athlon. The Athlon is good and bright, don't know about durability and it's mounting screws don't work with anything but their adaptor (there is a way if you're interested talk to me at the next ICORE Match at DeSoto) The DPP adjustments are a PITA and I don't like the triangle dot. The JPoint has a plastic lens, I scratched mine up it's still usable but distracting. The Viper is the lowest sitting but you have to remove the sight to change the battery, some don't like that. The Venoms are my favorite all around. Don't have any CMores, but a lot swear by them. I can bring all for you to look at, the next MC ICORE Match is September 24, I'll be at the range on the 23rd setting up too.
  8. keep thinking a recliner would fit?
  9. Great match, no gimmicks just shoot. Tom Howard ran away with high overall and top Limited, Juan Hernandez took high Open at 3rd overall and top Grand Senior, Military and LE, Joe Sutton was top L6 and Classic went to Jay McKeown. Top Lady was Kelly Brown (and we had 3 Lady's, a real good turnout), Mike Carmoney was top Senior at 2nd Overall and I snagged high Super Senior (and only had 1 Super Senior moment while RO'ing!) Squad 3 was 50% Certified Range Officers, made the work load very easy and the day flew by. A BIG THANKS to Don Rush and his Crew!
  10. Good to see you and glad you had a good time. 2 more to go for the year. May have to add another bay into the mix, it's going better than I had hoped.
  11. Email them and ask if you need to do anything else. I've not had any problems with them though, they have been to work with.
  12. There are 2 options with s&w, 1st have them do it with a flush pin and refinish this option is the most expensive. 2nd they have what's called a crown stud pin, it will leave a dimpled pin visible. Have had both, in think the crowned stud is stronger but have no proof. They did m29-3 under warranty, yet charged me $160 for my 3 year old m627 PC? Took them a couple of months. I'd contact tk, pinnacle or dave ohallso. Spelling not right probably.
  13. I never used one, but have seen a few semi-auto's in USPSA. They are less secure, if not locked, if you have to move, jump or run before you draw, think table start or even inside a car, then it is prone to allowing the gun to dislodge. I worried my DAA Racer x would have similar issues without the extension. In reality you don't gain enough time to counter security in USPSA or ICORE. SC is a different animal.
  14. Don't have the flex, but have a racer x and I had to whittle on the locking block where it fits the trigger guard to make it work with my 627's. Yet it worked fine with my 625.
  15. You could have the 627 reamed out to 9mm too.
  16. I shot a few dozen 38 short colts in a buddies 929. Worked great. They didn't swell horribly and sized down with my 357 die. Then shot them in my 627 with no issue. Repeated firing in a 929 may show issues after a while when going back to a 627. Another thought is the chamfers on some more aggressive, which could cause more swelling?
  17. I'm in with several local buddies from kansas. May be up to half dozen sunflower revolvers there! Local icore attendance has really increased this year. This will be my first irc, finally checking off a bucket list dream. Been to 9 uspsa nationals, 5 in revolver, and more excited for the irc.
  18. I had a GP100 6 shot and it took very little work to get a very nice trigger, not as nice as my 'Smith's though, and it did feel better than it measured. Thought of going 8 shot, simply due to Ruger's being built like tanks. But alas just had too many Smith's on hand and the platform of either ain't what's wrong with my performances.
  19. Can't even count the number of 'Smith's I've seen with the cylinder and crane flying out during a reload!
  20. Another option is have toolguy cut your m29 for moonclips. Then using his adaptor handles for the 44 you can compete in classic, L6 and even limited.
  21. Was it the consternation over dropping loaded rounds that's you probably won't find? Or were they hanging up?
  22. Yes I use that in my 1050 with bullet feeder for my 38 short colts. Worth the money.
  23. Yes pretty straightforward. Hope to see you on the 23rd, if you're back on dry land.
