  1. Another option is have toolguy cut your m29 for moonclips. Then using his adaptor handles for the 44 you can compete in classic, L6 and even limited.
  2. Was it the consternation over dropping loaded rounds that's you probably won't find? Or were they hanging up?
  3. Yes I use that in my 1050 with bullet feeder for my 38 short colts. Worth the money.
  4. Yes pretty straightforward. Hope to see you on the 23rd, if you're back on dry land.
  5. Go to my practice score site for the July icore match, it's under stages. Will send it to your email.
  6. Best way is to a hundred, like a sample pack, of different bullets. Blue Bullets has the same 160 RN in .358 and .355, and test for accuracy from a bench. Even better if you had a Ransom Rest, but few do. More than likely the .358 will be more accurate, but it's possible there could be no detectable difference. There's so many variables such as muzzle crown, forcing cone, cylinder throat, rifling condition, cylinder chamber condition or even general bore condition. For example if the rifling has enough wear a larger or harder bullet may be best. If the cylinder throat is oversized a larger bullet will be needed. If everything is on the tight side of tolerances you might not see any difference between the sizes. Good Luck
  7. The main issue is overall length. A 160 may load deep enough in the case to bulge the case at the base of the bullet at a short length. Load a few and check to see. If they don't chamber you will have to go longer on oal. If they work, load 100 to chrono and sight in. Then use your cylinder or a moon clip checker to test all loaded clips. Or a cartridge checker to check all rounds. If they fit you're ok.
  8. Hogue would have their rubber grips, many like them on a smith. Think my gp100 came with them and they worked great.
  9. Tk custom seems to be the quickest and most reliable.
  10. Since it's already been modified, has what looks like a ppc or bianchi adaptation, I'd send it to tk. Wonder if the crane was stretched?
  11. I wanted to thank all of you for coming out to the 2023 USPSA Free State Championships. I had multiple Board Members, Range Officers and other competitors comment on how they enjoyed watching or running the Revolver Squad. They had nothing but good things to say about all of you. And were impressed by the skills you exhibited and the obvious fun you had. Revolver Division was the 4th highest Division with 14 competitors shooting, beating out Production and Limited Optics (13 each), PCC (10) and Single Stack (3). Congratulations to Mike Carmoney on his impressive win, the forthcoming article will of course have the "real story"! Kudo's to Cliff Walsh on 2nd Place overall with his 6 shot Major PF 625, quite impressive even for a legend, Young Sam Carmoney took 3rd overall and A Class win, I took the State Title at 4th (edging out the 2 Sutton's Joe and Seth), Seth Sutton won C Class, with Bret Budd and Kelly Brown at 2nd and 3rd C, Bob Border won D Class at 9th overall. I know I enjoyed competing with all of you and feel confident we are brethren. My goal for next year is to have 2 squads of Revolvers, we aren't far from it. As a side note give some thought to having a Revolver Only Match here in Kansas a USPSA (maybe a /ICORE?) match in the future? If anyone would be interested let me know as I will be giving my craziest ideas a place to run. Hope all of you have a good season this year, stay safe and be healthy. Dave Williams L593 PS find my Facebook site (David Williams) I"ll be posting some pictures and videos in the near future
  12. Remember the firing pin gets slapped by the hammer. When it does it goes to full extension and then will retract slightly. So it may be a case of a slight difference in the hammer to give the hammer more forward momentum and then it "retracts" slightly more. I have one in a 325 and notice the same issue, but it works fine. So I'd recommend putting it together and shooting it with the hardest factory ammo you have. If it lights off several cylinders you should be good to go.
  13. In shooting, other than safety, there's no bad decisions. In competition, except for that 1 competitor, there's no good decisions. So pick one and enjoy the ride!
  14. Think he's 68, a year older than me. Least that's what he said at the 2007 nationals.
  15. Baby steps back, don't look directly at the deer either. At least the supply is loosening up, for now. Next step is dropping prices. But inflation alone means $30 a thousand will never happen again. My hope is $80 and my prayer is nobody farts loud and scare up the prices again.
  16. Not that particular bullet but other similar I've used a taper crimp, both on and over the shoulder. Never noticed an issue with either way. Try both and see which is more accurate. I tend to stick with a heavy taper on the band.
  17. Just heard only 15 spots left and we have 15 revolvers, sitting at 4th highest. Any other revolvers willing to take the challenge? Have gem's cliff walsh and joe sutton and the indomitable marvelous mike Carmoney. So lots of action.
