  1. Might try Blue Bullets their coating is one of the hardest/thickest, they can send a sample pack. A lot depends on the velocity, up to 1200 f/s some coated will work but over 1300 f/s? Last time I had a comp was about 1996, and JHP were the choice, don't think there were any Poly coatings and the Moly coatings couldn't handle it.
  2. Its easy to get major pf with 38 specials and I have worked up 2 major pf loads with 38 short colt cases. And using Starline brass can use my good moons.
  3. Yes and we all laughed about it at the time!
  4. And remember when we could actually find an affordable chronograph? I know I thought what's next, heads up display for our 1911's?
  5. The false hope? Will still take 2 reloads with 15 round mags and 1 up the pipe at start for a 32 round cof.
  6. Yes reread my response, i adjusted it.
  7. Not really. And it's not recommended to use full mainspring pressure with the side plate off. It's hard on the trigger stud to put full mainspring pressure on with side plate off. If you can't feel or see any issues with no mainspring attached, try attaching the main spring and tightening the strain screw just enough so it stays put then with side plate off try the trigger. It should be a very light pull. If it does create that wall feel, and the mainspring has no arch at the top, then it is likely knuckling. Don't force it though, and don't tighten the mainspring down all of the way with no side plate on. Re-reading your question, with the grip off, back the strain screw off until the mainspring has very little pressure, just enough that it stays put. Then try the trigger if the wall is still there, take the mainspring out and try again. If the wall isn't there, look at the mainspring it should have an arch at the top.
  8. Yes, the rules committee is formulating a poll. The uspsa bod rules committee chairman is following this thread, driver8M3.
  9. If the mainspring is knuckling it can feel kind of like that. Knuckling is caused by not having enough arch at the top. If you have another mainspring try it.

    Holsters.

Might have to go to a race holster. Daa, ced, Guga ribas.
  11. ain't that the truth. My dad had even crazier stories.
  12. It's not just revolvers, 22 lr ammo is notoriously finicky across all platforms. Ro'ing a steel challenege match is quite enlightening.
  13. I'd worry about the toxic fumes from the Pin coating too. Decades ago my dad had the idea to melt styro foam cups and make glue. I pointed out the fumes were probably toxic? Talked him out of it.
  14. My guess is the crimp will be a bit under .370. Looks good as long as it's accurate don't worry. It would even shoot in a semi-auto, accuracy may or may not be affected just depends on the gun.
  15. Did it once here at the mcpsl December monthly matches. Home of the free state uspsa championship, have been the 4th most populated division for 3 years had 14 revolvers in 2023 including cliff Walsh shooting major. We listed a revolver category, 2 of us shot open division/revolver category and 4 shot revolver division/revolver category. Most revolvers at our monthly match for a while.
  16. Well said, thank you.
  17. The top guys agree the dot is a significant advantage, and shoot dots regularly just not in uspsa. Yet they don't want to see dots in uspsa revolver. Questions for mwp and fishbtreath especially, Why? Is it the tradition? Or Less fun? Or Think it will hurt the division? Will you both keep shooting USPSA Revolvers if Dots were allowed?
  18. Ooh I'd love to shoot can you count with my dot revolver, will set it up at next years icore match then translate it to hf. Reason why is im curious if I just shoot it with the target in the window can I go faster? In December at our uspsa match we had a revolver category and I shot with a dot sighted revolver. There were several stages with close targets that I never saw the dot. And was surprised that I got decent hits. Of course I didn't win revolver category, Darren did.
  19. IMHO there are three types who benefit the most from dots. 1st those who never became comfortable with iron sights. 2nd those who are willing/able to put extensive practice into dots and get comfortable with them. 3rd the time survivors who struggle with iron sight focus. A 4th group MUST adopt dots, those in the top few percentage competitors. If for no other reason than the mental aspect of NOT giving up any points. Some have natural talent, or are comfortable with irons, and don't have time/wilingess to adapt to a dot, and I doubt if they would be harmed by staying with irons. The question is what would help or hurt our beloved sport?
  20. Definitely not delusional, equal? Never heard of any being equal. Each division has its pros and cons, those who like and those who don't. None are more popular than co, and I get it. Us revolver guys just march to a different beat. And we are discussing how, or if, it can be made a little bit more, fun, appealing or ??? Knowing full well we aren't the cool kids on the block.
  21. When the USPSA Revolver Nationals was a stand alone it had around 100 competitors and it was after the Single Stack Nationals which was several days and almost 400 competitors. But yes if done correctly it can be upped, as a curious note I wonder how it would be received today if a club repeated that pattern? The Memphis Charity Challenge matched those National numbers and had NO semi-automatic Divisions preceding it, wonder if that could be re-created? The IRC at one time was HUGELY popular, but they had a prize table that was out of this world heavy. I desperately wanted to attend but could never justify going all of the way to California for it. And once it moved out of there it seemed the prize table dropped and then attendance.
  22. Bob has been up here in the Midwest several times, great guy. I am so envious of you guys, short sleeves, running revolvers and under clear blue skies. God smiles on you, enjoy it for the rest of us.
