I am a big fan of Hornady Steel Match if you can find it. Very accurate and consistent.

3 gun sucking away uspsa shooters?
Shooter116 replied to Sandbagger123's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Mark is right. One look at the prize tables for any major or even regional match will show you why people are flocking to 3Gun. I finished 4th in Limited at Xtreme and took $600 worth of stuff off the price table versus Dawson grip tape that I got for being 4th B in Limited at Cowtown classic. The matches cost the exact same amount to shoot. Where is my money going to go next year?? -
looking left and right after finishing stage

That is some funny stuff. Very tactical... -
I had some work done to my shell catch by someone at a match who bent the catch out a bit b/c rounds were bouncing out of the tube onto the lifter while loading (mistake) and now the shells are hanging up on the lifter in such a way that the lifter won't move upward to chamber the shell and its harder to shove the round into the tube. Shell catch too tight or is something else likely wrong? Was about to replace this one with a new one but everyone seems to be out of stock on them. I have a brand new extra long spring in the tube. Any ideas appreciated.

Huge fan of the LaRue SPR-E. Rock solid and the return to zero if you take it off is almost perfect.

So you think YOUR wife is gonna kill you? Please, I got you beat.

My wife and I don't even share money and keep everything separate and somehow I get bitched at for buying guns and she buys $2.4K Manolo Bahlnic or whatever boots and that is "normal"... -
9mm major open pistol - reuse brass or let it go?
Shooter116 replied to mag17's topic in Open Pistols
I reload mine 3-5 times then trash it or leave it for others. -
Buy a custom gun not an out of the box from STI. Mine didn't run at all after a month and I had to spend $600 and three months with a gunsmith before it finally ran consistently. I should have just bought a Bedell, Cheely, SV, etc.

My Brazos have always worked well for me. I have two sets of 40 and a set of 9mm and they all run with no issues.
-
Tripp or Wilson seem to work the best. CMC are pretty good as well.
-
Thanks. This worked and saved me $62.

I have been extremely pleased with the Brazos tuned mags. Not a single issue and if you buy 4 at once you can get them for $100 each instead of $125.

I have a Liberty safe (my second) and I really like it. Definitely buy one that is at least twice what you have. You will fill it quicker than you think.

Black Friday Bullet Discount at Xtreme
Shooter116 replied to RammerJammer's topic in Gear & Accessories
Likewise. Anyone know if you can pair the gift cert with the discount? -
I really like the Crye and Vertx. I have both and they are better than the 5.11s.
-
Definately worth the investment. I was shooting a G34 or G35 in USPSA and 3 Gun and bought a Brazos Edge. I couldn't go back to a Glock now. More in the mags, feels right and a bit heavier so less recoil.
-
Not. Bedell told me to take them out of any gun I have them in and run a guide rod and reverse plug.

Brand New STI EDGE, is this what $2200 pays for?
Shooter116 replied to Finbox's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I have an Edge too but it seems to run fine, other than the fact that the rear dovetail was cut into the slide at an angle so the sight sits an a noticeable angle too. It has some rattle to the slide too. I am buying an SV and selling my Edge. -

Shooter116 replied to Finbox's topic in 1911-style Pistols
I bought a brand new STI Matchmaster 9mm major open gun two years ago that ran fine for a month. Then it wouldn't go into battery on every other round and I would have to thumb it into battery to get it to fire. Finally got so frustrated that I sent it to Dan Bedell, who within 3 minutes of getting it out of the box named 3 or 4 things wrong with it including the wrong barrel linkage. STI told me at Double Tap right after that to send it back and they would "get it back to factory specs" to which I responded "wasn't it factory spec's when I bought it from you". Their quality control leaves a lot to be desired now that they outsourced a lot of the manufacturing to the Philippines (I think that is what they said). -
Never try to ride miniature Shetland ponies while drunk and 18. Those things are mean as hell.

Nice run.

Some do point shoot and Taran Butler is probably one of the best at it. Watch his you tube video of him mowing down a plate rack from the hip.

I love my shadown but Bigfish is right. You can get practically the same gun for less in the 85 Combat. Mink at Automatic Accuracy worked my shadow over and did a fantastic job on the trigger and i went back and had the short reset installed. Made a noticeable difference in the reset but its another $100. Also if you are going to shoot IDPA its tough to get the shadow to make SSP weight.
