  1. I cut a piece of cardboard and taped it, making the tube long. This is much prettier though
  2. 4.5.1 The competitor must not interfere with the range surface, natural foliage, constructions, props or other range equipment (including targets, target stands and target activators) at any time. Violations may incur one procedural penalty per occurrence at the discretion of the Range Officer. 4.5.1.1 Exception - a competitor is allowed to move stone, sand or other loose material at the starting position for the purposes of achieving level and stable footing That doesn't sound like running into a barrel and knocking it over because no one bothered to secure it to me. I've slid in gravel and almost went through mesh walls before.. That's not a procedural
  3. I think it depends on what your trying to do. If you want to have fun by all means change it up, but if your trying to get better at one division you should stick with that one. I shot open for a year and switched to production where I've been for the last two.
  4. In production and Carry Optics you have to start hammer down. It's legal to start hammer back safety on in the other divisions.
  5. it wasn't always like that right? "Grip modifications such as, but not limited to, undercutting/smoothing the trigger guard, adding or removing finger grooves, or adding stippling, grip tape, or checkering are specifically allowed, without reference to Appendix E4" "But not limited to" makes me think you can do whatever you want? And "without reference to E4" would mean you could stipple all over the place?
  6. Carry optics has the same rules for the grip as production. I'm not sure what was done to it, but if it isn't production legal it's probably not carry optics legal.
  7. From the glossary : "Should ........Optional but highly recommended." 2.4 Safety Areas The host organization is responsible for the construction and placement of a sufficient number of Safety Areas for the match. They should be conveniently placed and easily identified with signs. At level II or higher matches, Safety Areas must include a table with the safe direction and boundaries clearly shown.
  8. 5.2.2 Competitors carrying their handgun in a holster must have an empty magazine well, and the hammer or striker must be de-cocked. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be immediately escorted by a Range Officer to a suitable range or safety area where appropriate corrective action shall be made. That's the uspsa rule. You said SO, I'm not sure if the same thing applies to idpa
  9. Open and limited guys tend to have it over lap in the back, because they have mags up front. Production guys have it over lap in the front, because they have mag pouches going around towards the back. Either way is fine
  10. Your allowed to shoot until the "if clear, hammer down, holster" command. If they was unable to show clear the command shouldn't have been given so no issues
  11. I carry my rule book but I only ever use it when older guys don't want to read it off my phone. It's was faster to search the pdf than to flip through pages anyways. I got one at my ro class, and the another copy at the cro class
  12. No. It's just makes it look pretty and adds a bunch of work. Dry tumbling is fine
  13. Do you shoot production?
  14. A big part of the game is bringing stuff that works. The shooter is responsible for the rounds that leave the gun even if your finger is out of the trigger guard. Dq
  15. If it's touching the shooting area, or Fault Line than it isnt wholly out and is fair game. 10.2.1 A competitor who fires shots while any part of their body is touching the ground or while stepping on an object beyond a Shooting Box or a Fault Line, or who gains support or stability through contact with an object which is wholly beyond and not attached to a Shooting Box or Fault Line, will receive one procedural penalty for each occurrence. However, if the competitor has gained a significant advantage on any target(s) while faulting, the competitor may instead be assessed one procedural penalty for each shot fired at the subject target(s) while faulting. No penalty is assessed if a competitor does not fire any shots while faulting, providing doing so does not violate (2.2.1.5 or 3.2.6) Shots fired after completely (both feet out and touching the ground) leaving a shooting area will be penalized one penalty per shot until the competitor establishes a presence in a new shooting area with at least one foot on the ground inside the shooting area.
  16. If you gun has decocker where ever it goes when you use it is fine. If you don't have one, hammer must be all the way down
  17. What? Sounds like and internal modification to me. As long as it makes weight what's the difference?
  18. Depends on the wsb. But if all it said was start outside, they were outside.
  19. Correct. I don't think the club can tell you must disengage it. They could certainly suggest it and the shooter would be better off. 3.3 Applicability of Rules: USPSA matches are governed by the rules applicable to the discipline. Host organizations may not enforce local rules except to comply with legislation or legal precedent in the applicable jurisdiction. Any voluntarily adopted rules that are not in compliance with these rules must not be applied to USPSA matches without the express written consent of the President of USPSA. All local rules allowed under these provisions will be documented at USPSA HQ.
  20. No rule against it. The only rule close to it, which doesn't apply, specifically says a strap and serpa holsters dont have a strap. 5.2.5.3 Unless specified in the written stage briefing, or unless required by a Range Officer, the position of holsters and allied equipment on the belt must not be moved or changed by a competitor during a match. If a retaining strap is attached to a holster or magazine pouch, it must be applied or closed prior to issuance of the “Standby” command
  21. It's getting to the point where a Internet connection us required at the range. With all the different emails and Facebook posts and extra pages explaining pcc rules. All to cover for the face that the rulebook wasn't wrote to include rifles
  22. Uspsa put a link to common questions about pcc and Co on their Facebook with Troy answering them. I would be surprised if he changed his mind because of this thread. It's not the only place in the rule book that pcc doesn't fit the wording. The post on Facebook was 'Q and A with DNROI PCC and Carry Optics" with this link http://www.multibriefs.com/briefs/USPSA/PCCandCOQuestions.pdf
  23. Technically it wouldn't be because glock didn't make a g17 with a 34 slide. Realistically it's the same exact frame and no one is going to care. As long as the aftermarket slide doesn't have slide cuts you should be fine. Post a link before you drop 500 bucks on a slide that will put you in open
