  1. I'm looking at acquiring a 627 PC for USPSA. Is 4" enough, or should I go longer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I agree on that. Some 625s should be hitting the market. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Was there a question somewhere in this post that didn't pertain to hot women? I'll go with #2. I don't care for the "femtactical" look. Besides, I got all the guns I need. Hot nekid women? Still trying to get that collection started. They sure put some lead in my +Ps! I shouldn't have any trouble making major[emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. No kidding. Like I just said in another post, who wears a shoot-me-first vest in real life? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Better than nothing I guess. Everyone I've seen is there to game. Who wears the "shoot me first" vest in real life? The 5-shot revolver is one of the most popular carry guns, but the BUG rule changes have rendered it non-competitive. So many COFs require shooting with feet in motion. Everyone does it slo-mo Makes no sense to me,. I see the practicality of draw & Fire while retreating. But the target doesn't advance and competitors would get dismembered by a knife-wielding opponent if they retreated as slowly as in a match. I agree with 9x45 on that. IDK what the drills he's referring to are, but it would be infinitely more real-world to have the target advance rapidly, shooter can fire as many as he can till it reaches a certain point. No zero hits = penalty or something. Shooting while advancing makes less sense. If I need to advance on a threat, it makes more sense to run like heck to where I need to go, then shoot. Faster and more accurate than shooting while shuffling my feet in super-slow motion. It also seems to me a civilian should be focused on neutralizing or breaking contact with a threat, not moving towards the bad guy to get stabbed or shot. How you train is how you do things in real life. I've heard stories of LEOs in revolver days engaged in shootouts actually dumping empties in their hand and pocketing them before reloading. 6. And taken a really long time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I agree. The shoot on the move thing bites me and I don't get it. I'm no combat expert but it seems to me you should shoot or run, but not both. People in the match move their feet so slow, a sloth could catch em easily. I guess it's sort of an exercise in thinking under duress, but trying to neutralize a threat while walking backward in slow motion seems like a very bad habit to get into. 8. No shock there, our top shooters are always down more than me. It still won't even come close to making up for my sloth-like speed. Besides, the top shooters will adjust. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. S&W Model 64, 3" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Their site shows a CF 2nd Saturday after the rimfire match. It's NRA not-hunting-pistol, but I guess better than nothing. I used to be a member at HCRPC and it was the snootiest club I've belonged to. I'll just ignore the cracks about shooting a real handgun:-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. What's wrong with the 625 for USPSA? Serious question as I'll probably buy a USPSA revolver next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I'm slow as molasses and couldn't care less. I'd rather be penalized for a miss than some of the stupid procedurals, like using boxes for cover that aren't really cover. Or not doing a slo-mo moonwalk as I shoot. As to catering to age: there's a senior division for us old folks. Don't screw with the rules for everyone just for old farts like me. If I wanna get faster and compete with the youngsters, I'll get in shape and start gaming (the latter I won't do..) CAS looks fun, but I'm not gonna play cowboy to shoot. 13. I agree. As I just said in another post, seems to me they're trying to cater to the "realist" and gamers and not doing either very well. My guess is opening up more to gaming is an attempt to pull in USPSA shooters.I refuse to buy a "shoot me first" vest only for the purpose of matches. I wear a big fishing shirt that I actually do wear other places. Unfortunately, "Daily wear" is a nebulous term. What if someone is retired and really does wear a fishing vest daily? Seriously, how many civilian CHL holders carry a BUG? For most, a BUG is their carry gun. If they wanted to make it real, they should have a pocket pistol division. At the end of the day, if you don't want to wear a cover garment, shoot something else. I'm still waiting for the jump buck-naked & soaking wet out of the shower COF. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. What he said. I thought it would be fun, but my eyes are glazed over by the time they explain EXACTLY how to execute the COF. IMO, if you do it safely and drill each target, people should shoot it how they want. I get so many procedurals, I've quit worrying about them. At least the ones where I'm not moving while shooting and using cover that isn't really cover. IDK much about actual combat but shooting while moving seems stupid to me. I notice everyone moves so slowly when they do this, may as well be standing still. Move fast enough to matter, and your're not going to hit much. Seems like a silly waste of ammo if you were in a real shootout. If you need to move, I say run like hell to the nearest cover, then shoot. Shoot or move, but not both at once. Plus as soon as I invested in an SSR, they changed the revo rules. They also screwed the 5-shot revo shooters with the BUG rule change. IDPA is supposed to simulate CHL and yet they made the most made the most common & practical carry revo non-competitive. Seems to me IDPA is trying to make it "realistic" CC practice and cater to gaming, and not doing well at either. Haven't tried USPSA yet, but I'm about to. Sorry to bash, but I find it boring. 15. Yeah that's back when I shot NRA, until I got tired of running a Contender that had no use besides pinging those animals. Show up with a real hunting revolver and you got treated like a leper. Guess I'm stuck in the 80s. I'd love to find a pin or IHMSA match. IDPA has gotten boring and annoying. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I'm hoping to find an IHMSA club/match within a 100-mile radius of D/FW. I shot NRA not-hunter not-pistol sihlouette for years and got tired of the equipment BS. I'd like to be able to shoot.a real handgun at long-range steel without beating treated like the village idiot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Yep, one of these if you can find em: A 3" S&W K-frame, fixed sights. One of the handiest weapons ever. This ones an M-64 .38'Special. Honestly, I'm not a Ruger basher. My first CF handgun was an OM Blackhawk .357. Still have it & love it. #3 rifle, M77, tons of SBHs have come & gone. Try as I may to love Ruger DA revolvers, they're doomed to stack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. The belt: http://www.thewilderness.com/tactical-belts/original-instructor-belt/ I also run a 4" S&W K-frame (M-66). Safariland 568 holster. Comp III SLs I can't remember where the SL holders came from, but they were the most expensive part of the equation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Holy cow! I bet Usain Bolt could outrun that bullet.
  20. Thanks, Sounds like it wouldn't be worth the time & trouble for me.
  21. Well this was a most useful post since I was just about to ask the "can I get a Ruger as smooth as a Smith". All the hoopla about the match champion Sounds like the answer is no (well not as light, anyway) I've always been convinced the coil main spring on the Rugers have doomed them. No matter what, they're going to stack, unlike a leaf which can maintain the same stored energy through its entire travel.
  22. Thanks for the informative post, Tom. The "sweet spot" makes sense. Removing material below and leaving some mass at the point of contact could induce some flex, which would increase energy transfer. Kinda like a modern golf club.
  23. Yes, Federal only. I prefer to think of it as magic. Does that involve dressing up like Harry Potter, gathering at midnight under a full moon, placing your revolvers in a cauldron and chaning "Jer-rie Mi-cu-lek" while the high priest sacrifices a Glock? Seriously, is a 6-7 lb pull achievable with after-market parts, or does it need to go to someone like Carmoney? I can smooth an action pretty well myself and have lightened factory mainsprings with no ill-results. But never down to 6 lbs.
  24. How do you guys get em so light? Are they then Federal-only guns?
