  1. After badgering me to upgrade the kitchen to SS, I'm waiting for SWMBO to get tired of cleaning fingerprints and demand we switch again. Do other households wear linen gloves all the time? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Don't polish Ti!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. If he was shooting one of those Chappas that left thumb would get cooked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks, but the durability question was about the moon clips for rimmed rounds. I've read K-frame clips are very flimsy. Are L-frame .38 special clips any better? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I've seen a least a couple of replies in this thread from people saying they were running L-frames cut for moons. I've read enough bad reports about K-frame moons not to go that route. Are the L-frames stouter? Also dumb question. Once cut for 9mm, can the same cylinder still handle .38/.357? Sorry but I've never used moons other than ,45 ACP. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'd be down with that, except it's a 4-hour drive to the nearest ICORE match. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. That's just what I was thinking. DA revolvers are the stepchild. We need a gimmick, like "Pre-90s Police Action Shooting". DA revolver, pump shotgun, semi-auto carbine. CAS looks fun, but I just cannot persuade myself to dress up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Keep us posted on how that works out, Kurusty.
  9. Cool! Thanks for the education. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Steel challenge makes sense. Even so, I can't imagine there being enough steel challenge revolver shooters to justify a dedicated model , much less two near-identical guns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I can't figure out what target demographic is for these. Are they supposed to be a lightweight revolver for action pistol? The two look identical except for the rail on the R8. Am I missing something?
  12. Fair enough. Are there that many overseas LE agencies that issue L-frames? I just can't imagine there being a large enough market to justify R&D costs.
  13. IDPA matches are a lot easier to find and require less specialized/expensive equipment, especially for us revolver shooters. Revo shooters can compete in IDPA with a LEO trade in S&W model 10 costing $300., a $60 holster and a few speed loaders. USPSA you pretty much need an 8-round PC revolver costing 3-4 times as much, speed holster, two specialized belt,s and tons of moon clips plus mooning/de-mooning tools. Oh, yeah, and a dot sight starting at $300. I do hate the cover garment rule. With 45 states allowing open carry, I think they'll have to do away with it & have a concealment class. Optical sights: yeah they'll probably have to permit them at some point. They're not gonna collapse if they don't do it now. Point down: so what? Everyone plays by the same rules. Who says you have to pick one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Continuing my Glen Frey memorial with "Heartache Tonight" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Now a clip version makes far more sense to me. Ignition/headspace problems? Clipped revolvers have been around 99 years. When did these issues surface? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I heard this was unveiled at the Shot Show: a 6-shot 9x19 conversion kit for the S&W L-frame that does not take moon clips. My response is, huh? Why would you build a 9mm cylinder that doesn't take moons? I know it would allow people to shoot cheaper & more plentiful 9mm ammo. But $500 for the kit? You could buy a good reloading outfit for that. It'd take a load of factory 9mm over .38 special to pay for itself. The "bug-out" crowd seems to be drooling at having a .357/9mm convertible with no clips required. From what I've seen, Korth makes a proprietary SL. So, instead of a cylinder that leverages the rimless cartridge, they designed what looks to be a pretty elaborate retractor so it can be shot/extracted wo clips. And if the shooter wants a speed load, they must by an expensive 9mm speedloader (that seems blasphemous.) Am I missing something here? I can't image a market. I won't even get in to who/how the fitting is to be done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. "SHOOT ME FIRST! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I'm pretty much a revo guy but I've got stubby fingers and no auto ever felt more natural to my hand than a Remington Rand 1911 A1. Well that & an SA milspec I foolishly sold. I picked up a new SA A1 the other day and it did not feel the same. I think the stocks are a bit thicker plus it had the medium length trigger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. What width belt does the SF 002 fit? I can't find it listed anywhere. Just realized I have a 2" El Paso Saddlery belt hanging in my closet that I've never used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Afoulk, What revolver are you running? After pricing it all out, It's almost looking like I may as well take the plunge & buy a 625 or something that takes moons. Guess I could run the same 4" M-66 I do in IDPA, I'd just need more SLs and holders. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yeah I've looked at the Safariland. What kind of belt does it take? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Before spending money on a USPSA gun I'm gonna give it a try with my 6" 586 (6 shot). So what's a decent entry-level holster? Belt? How many SLs will I need? Thanks!
  23. showing up to help and sticking around to break down really makes you feel (and be treated like) a member of the club. That's one other bitch I have about IDPA, though it's really the local clubs fault; I stayed after my first match to break down, hauled stuff out back to the trailer. The RO and match director didn't even stick around to tell me my score, or say much of anything. I had to go to the clubs web forum and bug them to post the scores (scores from subsequent matches had been posted almost immediately.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. what is the point of even pretending that idpa or any other sport is going to cause your mind to get wired in a way that affects non sporting life? I play hockey, but it doesn't wire me to pin other shoppers to the wall so I can get to the checkout first? I raced motorcycles for years and it never caused me to start block-passing people on freeway on-ramps. Lets hope not, because applying that analogy to the shooting sports means you would be shooting the other shoppers. Do you practice at hockey to body check little old ladies at Wal Mart? Of course not. You do it to prepare for a game. Do you practice your slap shot on empty ice, centered in front of an empty net, dust off the puck a few times, aim at the center of the net, and shoot standing dead still? Under duress, your rational thinking goes bye-bye (excepting people like LEOs who have experienced it or are exceptionally trained.). Instinct takes over and actions tend to default to what your body has learned through repetition, the way you've practiced. Thats why you used to hear about LEOs in the revolver days dumping empties in their hand and placing them in their pocket before reloading during a shootout. That's the way they had been doing it on the range. I read once about an IPSC shooter carrying concealed who thought two guys were about to stick him up. After realizing he wasn't going to get robbed, he noticed he had raised his hands to the surrender position. Competition surely boosts your confidence and hones shooting skills, but it can also teach bad habits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I tried it to get back into competition and found I don't like it. I guess short of a major LE agency firearm training program, it's OK. Real world you're not going to be walked through a COF and told exactly what to do. "Tactical order" seems like a good way to get killed if you let your mind get wired to that vs scanning for threats and assessing them. Suppose the nearest bad guy is unarmed and ducks for cover when he sees you have a gun, but his buddy is two yards further out with a gun? The point down penalty doesn't bother me. The best shooters will adjust. As I understand the recent BUG changes, one of the most popular carry guns, the 5-shot revolver, can no longer be near competitive. Not allowing moon clips or revolvers over 6 rounds seems stupid and puts revos at an extra disadvantage. Do they deprive semi-auto shooters of their fastest possible reload? Shoot while retreating is stupid, unless you're being attacked by snails. Also how smart is moving towards a threat? I don't worry about my score. I just shoot em as I see fit and dont worry about the stupid procedurals, like not moving my feet. I have no real-world experience or training, but I think Gabe Suarez technique of airsoft fights is sound. He turned a supposedly well-trained group loose with airsoft pistols one day and discovered all the stand & shoot training went out the window when people are trying to not get shot themselves. Maybe I'll start going with my son:-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
