  1. Don't get me started on how they screw revolver shooters!
  2. Move 6-shot to bug since it's the same capacity. Or bring back ESR for 8-shot.
  3. This... Plus there are a lot more IDPA matches especially in the evening, as compared to USPSA. Same here. I can't justify the expense of a dedicated USPSA gun to shoot maybe one weekend per month. IDPA has a lot of stupid-ass rules (see my post about revolvers.) I hate being told exactly how to shoot stages. I think once you hit expert or shot x-number of matches without a DQ, you should be allowed to shoot the stage as you want. If there's enough people in a match fitting that criteria, put em all on one squad.
  4. Only for those who won't accept the challenge.
  5. To quote the Gipper. Free the 8-shot revolver. This this stupid-assed rule is a total mystery. Also why no 9mm revos? It's the only feasible way to use moons on a medium frame. They allow .380 BUG autos, but revos must still be .38s. Do they just hate revolvers? I'm sick of being the only revo shooter. I think there'd be more if they could shoot 8-round guns with moons. Also 9mm.
  6. I just shot my first IDPA BUG classifier with my 3" 64-5 and was very disappointed with my performance. A BIG part of the problem is the fat-assed factory ramp that lalmost completely fills the notch. It's near impossible to call my shots with almost no daylight around the front. So I need an FO post front of no more than 1/10" width that my old eyes can pick up faster. Problem is, the factory front is integral to the rib, thus will definitely need some milling by a gunsmith to install a new one. I took it to an LGS that advertises dovetailing, but they gave me a BS story about how they'd have to grind the rib completely off, blah, blah, blah. Apparently they just didn't want to do it for their advertised price.
  7. Yeah, I'll get me one of those soon as I can skip a mortgage payment.
  8. I'm a noob to action pistol and currently shoot only IDPA. I really want to shoot USPSA but simply cannot justify the expense of an 8-shot revolver + all the goodies for a discipline I won't be able to shoot more than once a month (due to my pletora of domestic responsibilities.) Anyway, it's kind of a drag being the sole revolver shooter all the time (one other at most, but it's rare.) Apparently the local club has previously tried revo-only IDPA and got crickets, so they refuse to do it again (strange considering this is Cowtown.) The nearest ICORE is 3.5 hours away in Oklahoma. It would be moot if the chicken-s--ts at IDPA would quit screwing revolver shooters and allow 8-shots. A 4" 627 is no bigger than a 625. Also permit 9mm revolvers.
  9. BTW, best to have three, though 2 should be sufficient since the max string of fire is supposed to be 18 rounds.
  10. OK, with the helpful advice of a fellow member, I took the plunge into unknown (for me) waters and bought a LEO trade-in Glock 22 to get started in USPSA Limited on the cheap. I currently shoot IDPA w revolver (hence the unknown waters) Now, sights fitting the following parameters: For my 56-yo eyes, I definitely need an FO front with daylight on either side to pick it up quickly, but still enough precision for the longer shots I hear about in USPSA. I'm a very experienced reloader but new to the Glock and .40. If I want to download for production, can I expect same POI? Or should I consider going adjustable? Also it seems the competition sights I've looked at are designed for the 34/35. Would height be correct with the shorter 22? Muchas gracias!
  11. Blueridge, What 6-shot do you run? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I was told by the only other revolver shooter in our club matches that he has run one and the recoil more than negates the time gained from moon clips. However, I was looking at IDPAs top 10 gun models shot in the Nationals, and the 625 was the only revolve on the list.
  13. I think the fact that they're recommended for lightened revo spings causes people to assume they're the best for everything.
  14. D/FW here also, which feels like Houston lately. You're fine. I do store powder & primers indoors.
  15. I haven't seen any shortage, but then I shoot revolver, almost never buy factory and haven't reloaded jacketed pistol ammo since the 90s. Why would government want to deprive us of the least-effective anti-personnel ammo? JHP I could see. Remember Winchester Black Talon?
  16. What BS. The only reason for that would be if the range only allows factory. In that case it should apply to all. How long before there are attorneys who are board certified in competitive shooting litigation?
  17. Then there's this: http://bigstory.ap.org/article/057945d6be7a4fb89d68bbf7d8b48bd8/hawaii-could-be-first-put-gun-owners-federal-database What've you got against Texas? Low taxes, gun friendly. Central Texas has lots of shooting sports
  18. Thanks. I'll have to take it up with the MD next time . Last match had a stage of 22 rounds, just one SOF per IDPA definition. Shooting revo, I got screwed. That was the first time I started with a full cylinder and used all 3 SLs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. What's the difference? SOF is defined the the rule book in 6.10.1 as a section of the COF that starts on a signal and ends with the last shot, and their can be more than 1 SOF per stage. I don't see definitions for Stage or COF. Based on that definition, I've never shot a stage that had more than one SOF. However, 6.10 states no SOF can exceed 18 rounds. I've definitely shot "Stages" that were more than 18, without any pick ups. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Can this thread please just go away or be locked? If you prefer USPSA/IPSC, there's another forum. If you hate IDPA, why waste your time in this forum? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Wow I just lost 29 years! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Ah, that makes sense. Rifle silhouette shooters have long been putting angled pistol grips on their stocks for the same reason. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Ok, call be a gross ignoramus if this is common knowledge. I just saw a reference to canting for the one-handed staged in IDPA classifiers. Unfortunately, the article didn't mention why. So I'm going to assume the technique used recoil to speed transition to the next target.. If this is correct, about how many degrees is optimal? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I run Ready Tactical. They're great, but amazingly, despite having no moving parts, cost almost 2x as much as the SLs themselves! https://cpwsa.com/products/ready-tactical-s-w-speedloader-pouch-and-moonclip-holder Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'm pretty sure there's never a scenario in which a non-licensee can legally receive a handgun via common carrier, even if it's being shipped across the street. Maybe if it had been shipped back to the mfr for warranty repair, but I wouldn't bet on that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
