  1. I'm enjoying this pistol so much I think it deserves it's own thread! Chambered in 9mm, stroked by 0.200", (3) 5/32" holes angled back ten degrees from vertical, Cheely CMore mount, slide lightened by 1.7oz, overall weight of 43.5oz. It shot flawlessly this weekend: I temporarily drifted in a slide racker for the match, but future plans include a ball detent, some trigger work, modification of the firing pin stop plate, and tuning the big stick for a few more rounds.
  2. I'm sure I'll see you around Iron Sights or Pala one of these days then
  3. The Tanfo one looks a little different, but the same idea.
  4. Nope, the heads are a different size/shape.
  5. I thought about about doing this but didn't know if it would be feasible. How much did you have to file off the CZ sight to fit it to your Tanfoglio? ~.012"
  6. No difference on the angle, but the notch is not very deep, that's what flies are for!
  7. I flied the CZ TS fixed rear to fit, it's less than half the money and makes a good slide racker! https://shop.cz-usa.com/productdetail/047007200706_fixed-rear-sight-tactical-sport
  8. I learned on a 550, bought a 650 and definitely suggest the 650 with a case feeder. When loading with the 650 one hand stays on the handle, the other places bullets (you could even put a bullet feeder on the 650 if you so choose); meanwhile on the 550 the left is turning the shell plates and placing bullets while the right is placing cases and pulling the handle.
  9. It might take a spring change for it to run with factory ammo, but give it a try. I shoot 9mm from 38s, although I also tear the tags off my mattresses, so take my word with a grain of salt
  10. I don't think not being consciously aware of your sights is the same as disregarding them. I think the only way competitors reach the highest levels in this sport or any other is to train their senses to bypass the conscious mind and react to stimuli instinctively. Your eyes saw everything they needed to see to break the clay, but your brain didn't need to project it all into your minds eye in order for you to execute the shot. The skill which sets great shooters apart is their ability to (and the speed at which their brain can) determine the level of sight focus required to make each shot.
  11. Last night I reamed the throat of a polygonally rifled Tanfo barrel using a drill bit with electrical tape wrapped around it I shot it today and it's as accurate as ever!
  12. You've got bigger stones than I do if you're willing to grind gunpowder in a coffee grinder If it worked I imagine it would make it burn faster
  13. It looks like the mag well is out of stock at CZC: http://czcustom.com/cz75magwellidpa.aspx But I think the magazine extensions are more important anyway: http://czcustom.com/cz75-extended_base_pad_long.aspx Do you use the thin grips?
  14. Awesome, I like your style! As I type I'm dreaming up a radically lightened Open TS, stay tuned... Which Open powders do you have available? I have lots of data
  15. Josh, what are your average split times?
  16. Busdriver you're suggesting a switch to minor, but can you quantify any tangible benefits of doing so? There's no capacity advantage and a scoring disadvantage, so what's to be gained? Faster splits?
  17. Your convenience is not a top priority for the CC company because you are not their customer.
  18. My preference is based primarily on novelty, they're all great guns, but whichever one I'm working on at the moment is generally my favorite.
  19. USPSA is full of shooters, tinkerers, reloaders, and collectors, which one are you? If you're a shooter, someone who dryfires, reads books, and is generally driven to win matches and get better, the Czechmate will serve you well. You can just buy it, figure out a load and shoot it. The biggest downside is that it's heavy (seven ounces more than your TS); some guys pay good money to add steel grips to their 2011s to make them as heavy as the CM, so there must be a market for Open guns close to 50oz, but I personally prefer them closer to 40oz. The Trubore is lighter, but still feels heavy because of the steel comp/bull barrel. As I'm sure you can tell, I'm a tinkerer and I wouldn't be happy with either.
  20. How many Open guns have you shot? Is there anyone local who would loan you a gun for a match or two?
  21. 40 is the way to go in Limited as you can't score major with a 9mm, but if you dream of shooting Open get the 9 and start the project
  22. Sorry Jack, but I would classify WAC as one of the more dangerous powders popular for major. Flattened primers are a generally accepted indicator of high chamber pressure and the faster 9 major powders flatten primers more at the same PF than the slower powders. I would call slower powders safer. The "fast" powders like WAC, CFE, Silhouette typically make major with charges in the 7-8gr range, HS6 in the 8+ range, but the slowest powders to make major in 9X19 like 3N38 and SP2 take over 9gr of powder (both of which have published loads which make major). The only disadvantage to these slower powders is that if you run the press like a drunken sailor they spill all over the shell plate. To answer Grumps question: CFE Pistol behaves nearly identically to WAC, does you program list it as an option?
